Akron Game Preview

Their starting Will (Shammond Cooper) is playing his 7th season of college football, and previously played against us while at Illinois in both 2019 and 2020 - no stats in either game. I'd mentally blocked how wild some of those early Frost games were. In 2019 we outgained Illinois 685 to 299, and only won by 4 on a late go ahead TD.

Lots of people go to school for 7 years. Yeah, they're called doctors

Sounds like in meetings with the team, Rhule's been talking up his last game against Akron's coach. It was his first season as HC at Temple, and Akron's coach was at Fordham (FCS). Temple lost it 29-30 in what was considered a big upset. It was Fordham's first win over an FBS opponent since they reinstated their football program in 1970. Guess Rhule was saying how he was embarrassed in front of his family and all, and he wants the scoreboard to be as lopsided as possible this week.

It sounds like he wasn't too happy about how the Cincinnati game went, and was on everyone's a$$ in general this week.

Winning this weekend just made me more anxious for next week’s games. Do we come out and dominate like we should? Do we win but struggle more in some areas? Does Cincinnati come out and win easily?

I don't think Cincinnati will win big against Bowling Green. Penn State only beat them by a touchdown last year.

Nebraska will win big against Akron, though. Cincinnati would win big if they were playing Akron.

Agree. Bowling green played A&M to a 1 score game last year as well. Pretty good team. Bowling green would likely beat Akron by several scores.
