The UA's offense was tentative and prone to panic against the Huskers' "Blackshirts." Its defense, a strength throughout a roller-coaster season, caved against a Nebraska attack that gained just five first downs in the Big 12 championship game against Texas. The Huskers dominated on special teams, too, benefiting from a bowl-record four field goals by Alex Henery.
"Offense, defense and special teams never really engaged in the game in any way," Stoops said. "That starts with me and our preparation, nothing was right all night.
"The game's over before it starts. That's where we lost this game. It's my fault."
