I would hate to lose Barney as well. However, we do have Cortez Mills and Larry Miles will be here early. Dangerous in slot and PR returner.

So it would initially sting but not for too long.

I know people like to bag on the short DB and also on players leaving the program, but Hartzog had a literal game-winning interception.

It was also his blown coverage that allowed them to be in position to score. He is a great guy and I hope he finds success but I'm not sad to see him leave. I was honestly nervous he would heal and get back on the field.

Every DB gives up plays. Cincy went after Hartzog on the last drive and he won us the game. I'm not saying he's the best DB out there, but he was the best we had and he made the play when it mattered most.

Completely fair opinion. I just felt like he was picked on more than others due to his size. I was elated he made the interception but I'm not sure how much it was on him making a play vs the QB underthrowing that ball.
 
I honestly think our DB room was better with Hartzog being injured then him playing. He was picked on in every single game for his size and propensity to guess routes. Very aggressive style that made him a target. Felt like last year a third and long that was converted was always due to his coverage lol. The guy had heart and was a hard worker but the only thing that matters is on the field play.

I know he got picked on a lot but would you say he played bigger than his size? Yes he made plays here but he also got picked on bc he was the smallest db on the field so the coaches either trusted him to be out there or out of crap ton of db's on our roster we didn't have anyone better than him and that's why he was out there.

I think he was rightly picked on considering he is 5'8". He got exposed like he was that short. I think they were fine without him this year.

Dude didnt win the game. He made a play that closed it out. They went after him for a reason. Think that one over.

I actually think you are both correct in your opinions about Hartzog. He is a kid that gave his everything for Nebraska and outplayed his size. He came in as a feshman and made a few plays and also gave up a few, which many wrote off as youth and undersized. The fact that he was a leader and his efforts always seemed legit, he became kind of a fan favorite, which is why some hate to see him go. In reality, the guys ahead of him this year were better. He was picked on vs Cincy (well documented), and if Sorsby throws that ball on time it is probably a different ending, but his pass allowed Malcom to pick the ball, ultimately being the hero! I love Hatzog, but as mentioned, the guys that played are better. He really should seek out South Dakota State like IGC, Bullock and Bretz. Yes, I am a Jackrabbit fan also.
