He does need to recognize when a play is dead, but I admire his effort in trying to find opportunities. Makes you wonder how good he could truly be if he could enjoy sustainable pocket protection. But, I think he’s passing up opportunities at times, then his second or third option is covered then it’s to late.
 
A QB can have a lot of time to throw, in which case good on the OL.
A QB can also take a lot of time to throw, in which case the QB may be courting trouble.

There are plenty of variables, but Dylan statistically holds onto the ball longer than most. NCAA Power 4 average is 2.76 seconds. Carson Beck is at 2.39. Shedur Sanders was at 2.96. Dylan was at 2.95 against Michigan and 3.35 against Minny. They didn't appear to list his season average.

For the season, Dylan has gets rid of the ball in 2.39 seconds when not pressured and 4.03 seconds when pressured. Overall he's at 2.87.
 
Just in case people wanna use PFF as a standard for how QB’s played during a game. Here is their “assessment” of two of yesterday’s QB’s that played each other. One team beat the other 31-0. One team had less than 100 yards of offense. That teams QB got rated higher than the QB who is on pace to be better than Josh Allen’s MVP year from last year. BTW. PFF thinks Mahomes has been avg to slightly below avg for the past 3-4 weeks now 😂😂. So keep that in mind when looking at PFF going forward.

throw in a half cup of a shitty o line, mix in a quarter cup of a rattled QB who's taking way too long to get rid of the ball, add a dash of an ineffective run game and smother all of it with an incoherent play caller and you get the turd of a plate we were all served friday night.
 
It may be an unpopular take, but I haven't had much issue with Holgorson's play calling the first six games of the season. I'll have to trust you that Minnesota was a playcalling debacle, but some folks really didn't like Holgorson before this.

I loved the hire and really didn’t have a problem in the first 6 games but, this one was so bad that he deserves some major criticism. It’s not just play calling. He’s in charge of everything on offense.

Now, I’m always willing to give someone an….oooo that sucked. But, now he has to prove that was a one off and he needs to show he can put something much better together for the rest of the season. We have way more talent on offense than what was shown on Friday.

I don’t even know if my concern is play calling as much as it is offensive cohesion. The line play is trash- we all know this- can’t run or pass block consistently.

What might be more concerning is Rhule’s comments around RB and TEs whiffing their assignments. That’s poor communication between position groups, something that falls squarely on the OC to figure the hell out. What we saw Friday was a crap line getting pushed around and RBs/TEs also having zero clue where they should be and who they should be picking up when they’re called to block.

Minnesota had zero sacks the last 2 games entering Friday and ended the game with 9. Just a complete failure across an entire unit and a horrendous look for Dana and the HC

His worst game for sure. I am leery as he is an Air Raid guy and I am a "run the damn ball guy" so admitted bias. I was really hoping that prior to this game he made mention of wishing he'd run more and using the run to protect Dylan. Loved it. Of course I loved Rhule last year saying run for 150 in the 4th and do body blows....Neither one came to be against Minny. EJ is on pace to be the 1st 1000 yard runner since Oz in 2018. Still waiting to see the change in RB 2 they talked about. EJ is still RB 1-3. I have no issue with that. Just wish we did a lot better of addressing as many areas of need as possible.

Draws/counters/quick routes will do wonders for the passing game. And running game. Maybe use a 2 back set. Can't lie, I'd love to see Dylan keep a RPO. No team is scheming for him to intentionally run...

If I am Rhule (and I don't leave to PSU) every position coach and coordinator position is under review. Satt is TE coach....Barthel is RB coach. How have the RB's looked in years 1-3....Still no RB 2 one spring, one fall and 7 games in.....Again, I'm looking at everything.
