Dylan Raiola

But, when you are not winning at the level you had hoped and fans fell in love with TJ, prematurely… it possibly changed his pov… why stay at a place that doesn’t want him.

I think our fans that think Dylan can’t win a lot of games here are just bad college football analysts, or potentially they just can’t handle having a QB who doesn’t have any running ability (or both).

The Minnesota loss was almost entirely on the coaches, and I plan on repeating that the entire offseason.

He gets hurt in the 3rd quarter of the USC game…he might have led us back to a win in that one.

Then against Ped State & Iowa, I don’t know if any QB in the country could have helped us get the win with how terrible our defense was.

It’s been confirmed he went back to Georgia, with Luke 5 carry-on bags… but he should be back for finals, and hopefully be around for bowl practice, that might be the indicator

Would suck if he left. I want him staying here at NU. If it happens I am thinking he replaces Carson Beck at Miami. That is, if I was a betting guy.

They pay good, they play in a crappy conference (ACC) that can make the playoffs, and they have NFL clout history.

I think Dylan dreams and wants to be a first round pick so he can walk the tunnel, put on a hat and hug Roger Goodell in front of cameras. I think he would love to do it at NU but.... who knows if that would happen.

If he stays and NU, he will get drafted for sure. But where at in the Draft? Because he still has a lot to work on within his game IMHO. Including pocket awareness (tacking sacks), quicker feet (he is sluggish and slow), and how he handles man coverage (he hesitates) and his passes in man coverage (it hasn't looked very good at all). Lots to work on to become a 1st rounder. He can do it. Hopefully he puts it all together at NU.

Minor point, but we were leading 14-6 and driving after a USC interception when he got hurt.

Just to add context - Dayton did play in the Georgia 6A state semi-finals last week and the whole family was there. FYI - They won and play for a state title on Tuesday, 12/16, so there is a good chance Dylan is on-hand for that game as well.

whatever.
The guys that come back will come back.

The guys that don’t come back, won’t.
Dylan could make a mark here, but if he (or anyone else who leaves) decides to move on we must also move on.
We cheer for Nebraska.

Do you think other Offensive assistants should be replaced?

I still don't see much future with Barthel. If you wanna try and argue that he coached up EJ, then why hasn't he coached up any of the backups into something we're comfortable playing more than a snap or two per game? Also: who the hell are we gonna have at RB next year? Our lone RB recruit is the lowest-rated guy in the class.

I think Mozee is going to turn out to be a good 3rd down back at the very least and at best a good full time RB. He showed some shiftyness, and a little explosive ability. He needs to bulk up his body to handle the every down duties. Keep in mind he came in as a WR/DB recruit and was a true freshman this year that got playing time at RB.

I got the sense Holgorsen didn't want EJ off the field more than he thought the backups were bad. Mozee was a RB full time until partway through fall camp IIRC, and I like that he rarely went down on first contact. Nelson had a couple nice runs, sounds like he just needs to lock in on his assignments. I wouldn't read too much into Rule's recruiting ranking, he can play. And I'm sure we'll at least kick the tires on some transfers.

It's not going to be EJ level production, but RB is honestly not that high on my list of concerns for next year. We will absolutely miss EJ, but he ran for 200+ against Iowa and we lost by 24.

Freshmen, redshirt freshmen & redshirt softmore. Ives & Nelson were plan B or C. Not sure he has had a chance to develope yet but the fact we have not been able to recruit a solid RB is the issue!

Agreed.

Another problem we had this year IMO was not being setup for power running in the red zone. A lot of people may point the finger at Donovan for that, but for me it's almost entirely on Holgorsen.

We've got the talent to move the chains. But then we need something different/better for punching the ball into the end zone with power for next year, I'd say.

I'm actually glad EJ isn't playing in the bowl game so we can see what Mozee or Nelson can do with a heavier work load and getting in a rhythm in the game. We've said for years that we need to pick an RB and let him get in the rhythm of the game. Well, they did that and it worked great. Now, everyone's looking at Mozee and Nelson saying...they suck. Well....let's see what THEY can do now with getting more touches and more of a chance.

I'm actually more disappointed that Spindler isn't playing because with him, these guys would have the best chance of having similar line to what EJ had all year.

I like Mozee. Runs hard & can be a receiver.
