Dylan Raiola

IDK the source quality, but apparently somebody was saying that Dom & co actually do like the Geep hire. And supposedly there's work being done to find NIL dollars for Raiolas.

I think it's telling that Dayton hasn't committed anywhere. I give it 50/50 odds whether his decommit was a sign that Dylan was leaving vs leverage to boost Dylan's NIL dollars.

The game itself is probably meaningless outside of getting to see some reps from QB, RB’s etc, but that’s the same for every non playoff bowl game.

What could be meaningful is allowing our new Oline coach and D coordinator see players in practice settings to get their own eyeballs on who can contribute next year and what portal additions are needed based on that.

Probably. But if TJ Lateef looks in anyway special in leading Nebraska to a win or near win against a ranked opponent, are you still willing to guarantee Dylan the starting job? Or tell TJ he's looking at a year on the bench?

Something less dramatic is more likely, but it's something to watch.

Total speculation, but after Dylan’s injury, Dom may have told Rhule that they are leaving unless he can protect Dylan better. Pretty easy for me to think that after him getting sacked 9 times in one game then ultimately a broken leg.

Again, total speculation, but if true, I hope they realize that Dylan needs to improve also to prevent those sacks.

IF DR leaves, then gimme Sam Leavitt and call it good.
Maybe we'll see a swap, Sam will be a Husker and DR will be a Sun Devil! :p

It's odd, Leavitt really seemed to like it at ASU and Dillingham. But this will now be his third school, so doesn't seem like he wants to stay anywhere for long. Also, my aquarium guy sources have told me that Sam was dealing with a foot injury and further aggravated it playing pick up basketball at the Student Recreation Center, which did not sit very well with the coaches and team. So, maybe a split there is a good thing.

Anyone remember when Trevor Lawrence snapped and attempted to assault an overly aggressive intramural basketball player who was guarding him too close? I would've thought the NIL agreements, for QBs in particular, would at least attempt to prevent that kind of thing. But 18-22 year olds are gonna do what they're gonna do.

Exactly right! I know the ASU players are not supposed to be playing basketball in season, so that's part of the issue. But who knows? Could all just be rumors.

Or, hear me out here, he could’ve been focusing on the playoffs where he is playing for a state championship.

One other idea, we moved on from Dayton because between Dylan, TJ, and Trae Taylor our room was too full for Dayton. I don’t think he’s a P4 QB but he’ll I’ve been wrong before.

I'm a run the damn ball guy and biased towards a dual threat QB. BUT I just want to win. Running, passing , kicking, just win. Dylan did QB to 1st winning season and bowl game since 2016 and 1st back-to-back bowls since 2014. Experience at the QB position matters. Better OL play, better D could make for a better season than I anticipated with our previous staff. And next season looks to be brutal if the caliber of our opponents stays the same. I hate Dylan got hurt, but glad TJ got the live reps. Last season was the 1st I can remember in a few years since a starting QB made it all season. And if we had a game after Iowa could TJ have played. We need 2 solid QB's (but hard to keep). Never want a kid of that caliber to hit the portal. Just wish he'd announce either way so Rhule and Co get start planning for the future.

Maybe everything went in “reverse” order than everyone’s thinking. Maybe Dylan informed Rhule that he will be actively looking in the portal for the second straight year, and this time he will more than likely move on. Rhule visits Buford and says, is informed that Dayton will not be coming to Lincoln… in turn, Rhule finally has the “freedom” to fire Donovan.
I think that as of now Dylan is staying… I just threw the above scenario out to join all of the conspiracy theories.

Who said we moved on from Dayton? And what kind of idiot says nah, we don't need a QB this year? Between injuries and transfers, you need to keep that pipeline loaded at all times.
Well, there is something called the transfer portal. Also, just throwing out a scenario.

You seem like you’d be fun at parties, quick trigger.
