You’re addressing this as if Nebraska actually had any control over what Dylan/Dom decided to do. They didn’t, unless putting control of the team in one prima donna player’s control is deemed a smart move.

It’s a fallacy to compare what our next starter does compared to whatever DR may do at his next stop. His next team may be better suited for an immobile pocket passer. We may not fill the position with a QB that is as good of a passer as Dylan (highly likely based on history). However, we will likely fill it with a QB that takes fewer QB caused and OL caused sacks. It’s apparent that Dylan and Donovan were always a package deal and one of them obviously had to go. There are way too many variables and situations to simplify it to our next guy vs DR at his next stop. And none of it was ever fully in Nebraska’s/Rhule’s control.

Clearly our OL needed new direction so we’re moving on from Donovan. That’s smart, not dumb. The rest of it was basically up to the Raiolas and their apparent attitude that anything less than perfect is somebody else’s problem.

We may well miss his arm and playmaking abilities in many situations but I don’t think we’ll much miss the overall package that entailed.

It seems like we traded Dylan Raiola for Geep Wade. Geep better be one hell of a miracle worker.

That’s the gamble that I was talking about, because Rhule knew there was a good chance Dylan would bounce when his dad learns that Donovan was going to be fired.

I’ll be thrilled it it works out, of course. But I’m saying it’s going to be relatively obvious what our ceiling is going to be if we pull a Junior QB transfer out of the portal that’s really average.

Hopefully we’ll get a good QB out of the portal.

The flip side is also true.
Relatively obvious what our ceiling is with an immobile QB behind a subpar line.

I’m glad Rhule is willing to make changes to things that aren’t working. It may work, it may not, but the status quo wasn’t working.

I don't think Donnie being canned had much to do with Dylan leaving. From what I heard Dom and Donnie were not really on the same page as the season went on (let's just say the family Christmas will be awkward this year).
