I can't say I care what some hacks on some sportsrag think of the hire. I'm a big fan of Mike Riley and think he's exactly what this program needed.
He's an offensive mind, for an offense sorely in need of some direction and an identity. He's great at player development and has a great history of developing quarterbacks...and player development under the prior staff was spotty at best and terrible when it came to QBs. He's a solid recruiter, who I expect to step up his game now that he has a job at a school worth recruiting to.
But beyond all the things he adds on the field, far more important are what he bring in terms of character, integrity, leadership, etc. Most of the problems I saw with the team had far less to do with X's and O's and far more to deal with lacking and dysfunctional coaching and leadership from Team Pelini. The hire of Coach Riley will lead to immediate and dramatic improvement in that regard.
So I couldn't care less what some sportshacks think. Riley was not only a great hire, but is exactly what the program needed to cure what has ailed us.
