Ohio State Refereeing Lowlights

lol,

I've been saying it for years. The B1G schools do not want Nebraska in this conference. The calls will "always" go against Nebraska. Bo Pelini's "us against the world" mentality was a result of this and getting zero support from the UNL administration. Fast forward to Rhule and Co.. same old same old... the officiating has been, continues to be and will continue to rule against Nebraska for the next 20 or more years. Nebraska while in the Big 12 and Big 8 embarrassed virtually every Big 10 school they faced and this group of OG's hasn't and won't forget it.

This would be a compelling thing to believe if it wasn't for reality getting in the way.

Don't suppose you remember this one?

Whoever put this video together did a master class.  Showing it like this makes it un-ignorable.  Keep up the pressure, seriously.

All of these were horse s#!t calls that favored OSU.  About the only one I didn’t see as completely obvious was the final game ending INT throw.  By then the damage was done.  We should have never been in that position. But hey there’s a big OSU V PSU game up next, can’t ruin the script!

It is a disgrace the B1G doesn't have full time refs and can't be held accountable for bad calls during the game.

I don't know how people gamble on games when you have refs like this in charge.
I agree with those that think conference refs are increasingly obsolete.  We should have a national or at the very least P4  fulltime group of refs for conferences out of a central office.

The no call PI on Barney was fine too. The refs didn't have a good angle to see it and it was kind of subtle.

The INT ends up being a little egregious when comparing it to the PI called on Hartzog earlier in the game that I think led to OSU's first TD. Same type of contact from Hartzog and the OSU CB on the INT.

And holy s#!t on the amount of defensive plays this year with no holding penalties. Expect another game where we get 4 holding penalties like against Purdue a few years ago now.

While I love the idea of a conspiracy I just can't see how it would work.  The league could NEVER even mention something like "Hey, make sure OSU gets a few calls", that would come out and destroy the conference.

The refs doing it on their own?  I mean, I guess, but why?  Unless it was just that they were a fan of one team and/or disliked the other, but even that is probably sort of rare.

By the way, Rhule has more flags thrown on him than Bo ever did (I think), so all of you that were "so embarrassed" by Bo and him getting mad...you all need to grow up.

They most certainly do get "something going" with a player, section of a team (line, WRs, QB, etc) and punish them for a while.  Some even go into the game hating one of the teams, a QB, a particularly vocal player or coach, etc.  They'll punish them with flags and the crew will generally go with it.

Now days we seem to see the conference wigs coming out with statements later on, after the damage is done to the victim team, often a loss, affirming that a mistake was made.  That affirmation, that expert opinion, should be available at a time before damage is done.  There are dozens of games each week, so it'd be one hell of a task to monitor each play of each game.  But perhaps it's time to think about finding a way to do that.

So I could see that, a grudge or bias.  That is human nature and I get that.

When I used to coach football still I would tell my coaches to NEVER yell at the refs, always be nice, joke around stuff like that.  It never hurts to be nice to them.

I just don't think it is some big conspiracy.
