This should be your moment. The first days of a true Republican Utopia. Yet I've never seen you so defensive, so inept, bringing some of the most witless and small minded arguments in your long HuskerBoard career.  You went with Team Dips#!t. Just own it and shut the fuck up.

I disagree, in the strongest of terms.

Sorry but that’s a bit harsh. Effectively it may have been a vote for Trump but he did not vote for Trump so it’s out of line saying he did. Our system is dysfunctional. We shouldn’t have to vote for somebody we don’t like just to keep somebody we dislike even more from getting elected. It may work that way but that is hardly anybody here’s fault.

You’ve made that clear.

I acknowledge that it was effectively a vote for Trump but our system and lack of good qualified candidates is the real problem. We shouldn’t have to vote for someone we don’t want just to keep somebody worse out. Voting for a 3rd party candidate is not the same as voting Trump. Heck you should know that especially in Nebraska. How would you like being told you voted for Trump because your state’s electoral votes went to him because that’s what your vote for Kamala effectively accomplished? Similar system fault, just another way to look at it.

Now I’m getting worried I may be wrong…I agree with @Archy1221 on this one.
I didn't want to derail the thread this was posted in, but I feel like many of us are actually more in-line with our thinking on various topics than some of the discussions here might often reflect. There are many posters here, Archy included, who post things I agree with. Sometimes we have to wade through deflectory debate tactics and unnecessary whataboutisms, but most of us are guilty of that from time to time.

I don't really have a point here other than it's refreshing for people to find and admit common ground on things even if they tend to have disparate views and arguments on a lot of other things.

Yeah I think most of us (not all obviously) want pretty close to the same things at the end of the day. Many/Most of the disparate views and subsequent arguments arise because of differences on how to get there and the unhelpful but human nature gotchas along the way.

You KNOW we would enjoy have a beer or bourbon together while listening to Teach’s classroom stories.   I think almost all of us would enjoy the bar or garage beer for a night or a Chardonnay glass for Guy I guess. Probably only 2 people here I can think of that would be absolutely awful to spend any amount of time with.

Back when I was in college, I actually met up with quite a few of the posters here. This was probably 2010ish? Some Lincoln bar. I think knapplc was there and several others that unfortunately I just don't remember now but they were pretty prominent posters at the time... might even still be regularly posting, if I could remember the names lol.

Anyways, it was a good experience. I don't think there's any currently active members that if I met them at a bar that we wouldn't get along. The only one of recent note would've probably been Loe Doesn't know, but since he's no longer welcome here, that isn't a problem. And that's not really because of his political views but just because of the things he said and the way he treated people, especially in DM's and such.

I’m not sure I could have handled Loe either.  Mostly because he/she probably couldn’t contain himself/hereelf from talking crazy and it would be a buzz kill while trying to enjoy everyone else’s company.  Similar to “Mr. Christ Like but also tells @JJ Huskerto go f#&% himself and his horse while telling us to be Christ like” blowhard Knapplc.   I can only imagine how awful having drinks with that person would be…..unless he/she pays of course.   Then it’s maybe tolerable :)

It’s like watching a movie.   I can get through almost all movies once I start, but every once in awhile it’s soooooo bad I just gotta get up and walk outta the theater.  Knapp and Loe are those bad movies.  Probably add Danny to that list too. I couldn’t handle listening to him moan about how hard life is.  I guess addd Scarlet to that list for obvious reasons.

everyone else I could find enjoyable things to talk about.  I’d enjoy hearing Commando stories about house rehab projects and how he did them, JJ I’m sure has funny work stories given some of the characters he said he’s worked with, I’d enjoy hearing from Guy what the CA wine and cheese crowd is like, Strangelove would get along with as we have similar thoughts outside of politics, zrod knows lots about cars and would enjoy hearing about some of that, etc….

We had some fun bar meetups and tailgates back in the day  :wasted

Assuming I like Chardonnay because I'm from California is like me assuming you're a cattle inseminator because you're from Kansas.

Over many years on this board I have clearly expressed my fondness for beer, whiskey, steak, football, and big titties. You need to respect that. My liberal leanings are loaded with testosterone (non-toxic only).
