Like it or not, the polls drive the media buzz until the playoff rankings come out halfway through the season. They are important for national coverage, which helps with recruiting. Nebraska fans didn't start dismissing the importance of them until NU started not being in them.

As you can see... polls are very important if they are favorable to Nebraska... but if they paint us in a bad light then a certain group of fans ... always... over an over... claim them to be "irrelevant".

This particular poll is irrelevant in regards to winning the National Title. It's always nice to see your team ranked but that has to be earned and we didn't do that last year.

no kidding...I hate it when Nebraska fans act like polls aren't important; like they don't play a huge role in who ends up in the playoffs.
