I think it is natural because it just doesn't make sense to most fans. He was set up for success but for whatever reason didn't apply himself fully. It's easier to blame outside circumstances than it is to blame him just not giving 100% to the job. In retrospect it may be easier to understand... he really only committed to Nebraska after begging from the top level two different times. Once as a player and once as a coach. The first was a success because he was surrounded by greatness.

While I *think* that's what he said, I just downloaded the whole clip, did some denoising and boosting of the audio of the part where he whispers, and still can't make it out with any great certainty. There's no visual angle for lip reading either, so your claim of it being quite easy to make out sounds like it's just easy to convince yourself of what you want him to have said.

I think this is a great point. Frost enjoyed a meteoric rise with his success at UCF. I was one of the many who thought he was just destined to be successful no matter what he did. I knew Riley left the program in a bad, bad place, but figured Frost would fix it within a couple of years. When he was announced as coach, it was the first time in a long time that I thought we had program unity from players, coaches, admin, boosters, etc. While some cracks did emerge and we got shafted with the Covid situation, the fact is that Frost did not make the necessary adjustments or recognize his/the staff's weaknesses to get the program turned around.

Were he and his wife happy to leave Orlando for Lincoln? Nope. Does he come here if it wasn't his alma mater and a big pay day? Nope. Was he depressed? Sure seemed like it. The fact is that he and his staff were unable to figure things out and did not provide the belief that they would figure it out in the near future. All this talk about being a drunk, sleeping with coeds, skipping recruitment visits with 5-stars, etc. seems to be highly inflated and twisted beyond reason. In today's world of Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter/X, pictures and video of such activities would be out there. Relitigating ancillary reasons why Frost failed is not solving anything. I'll wish him the best (Once a Husker...), but I am thankful that we got Rhule and to have optimism going into this season.

If we are even fair about it, the stories don’t matter. The one that always ate at me was being late to practice in Ireland.

He verified his incompetence this week and there should be NO more questions about the circumstances of his failed tenure.
 
I do like that some fans think that coaches are robots and not like other humans that also show up late, leave early, joke, drink beers, look at girls...blah blah blah.

I know, I know "But he makes a lot of money!'

Look, as a coach myself, we are normal people. Stop treating us as gods. Gosh
