Tangent Thread - Lifetime Edition

I found this one interesting. It’s extremely similar step wise to how I brew beer except my equipment and methods are different from his. I mash in large insulated cooler and boil in a pot over flame (use turkey fryer setup). All my transfers are made by gravity flow rather than a pump and finally, I use a large stainless conical fermenter instead of a plastic bucket. And I haven’t yet used CO2 to carbonate in a keg, I just bottle and wait two weeks for it to naturally carbonate. But other than that, very similar  :lol:   If you brew, you know what I mean.

Let me phrase this in a way you might understand. I just drove down Main Street and picked up supper. On the way home the food smelled good and I was hungry after working all day. Yet 4 cars in front of me and in the fast lane no less was a car driving 20 MPH in a 35 zone. I could feel my blood pressure starting to rise wondering why they were driving so slow!  Then it hit me.....I'm acting just like Ulty and his band of minions who think they need to control any behavior they deem unworthy. Should I have gunned it, pulled to the right until I was even with the owner of the slow car and waved my fist till they got the point that I didn't approve of their driving?  Maybe in real life you have an impressive building with your name on it and with the snap of your fingers people jump.  If you want to "have a discussion" and call the OP out because you don't like their etiquette, feel free to make your own thread and type till your fingers bleed. If you want to continue in the woodshed let me know.

Well, you nailed it with the histrionics, but fell quite short with the having a discussion part.

Three questions for you:

1. What did you pick up for supper at Main Street?

2. Tell me more about this band of minions, sounds awesome!

3. Why can’t we have a discussion in this thread?

OR

There's a thread in Husker Football about Maurice Washington. And then, because they want to, someone starts another thread about Maurice Washington in the Lounge. Only one person posts in that thread, and it meanders from page to page to page to page, constantly posted in by one person, and really no one else. And when you ask that person, "Hey, what's this about?" they rudely tell you to stop reading their thread.

You know what the mods would do? They'd move that Maurice Washington thread to the appropriate forum (like they did with this thread). And when it became clear that the only thing the new Maurice Washington thread was about was more Maurice Washington discussion, they'd merge those threads.  Because we already have a thread about Maurice Washington.

Except for some reason that's not happening with this thread. And people find it curious, and they ask about it.  And then some other people come in all lathered up and challenging people to meet them in the Woodshed because... why again?  Because they're white knighting the OP or something? 

We're trying to talk to Roxy about this anomalous thread. We're being met with hostility by you, and that's really weird. Because nobody is harming Roxy. If this thread got merged with the appropriate music thread, it would not harm Roxy.  She could still post her videos to her heart's content. 

 
so what exactly is the "going to do this" thread about? looks like JJ was "going to shear some sheep", but it got moved here. Dewiz was "going to stripe his lawn" but was moved here. how are they off topic when they "were going to do that"? and if the rest of that thread is nothing but music videos, how does it not overlap with the "what are you listening to" thread? especially after a few videos of things people were going to do got moved.

 
And please tell what difference it would make to 95% of the people on this board if there are two threads of music. Roxy has put on 98% of the music in her thread. I started putting a few on a few months ago but I quickly ran out of songs I liked plus I'm approaching my busy season.  In the past she has only posted in the recipes section and wanted to start something that would make her happy in hopes several would join her. Besides if you put the volume of music from her thread it would completely cover up the music people have been adding for years in the other thread.  Also the two threads aren't compatible. The original one is songs added by a wide variety of people with varying tastes of music not usually heard on the radio.  Roxy's music is not going to appeal to that crowd.  Hers seems to be memories from her past, the type she would listen to with her girlfriends from high school. Since so few have posted to her thread I don't think people are confusing the two.

Lol, even after it had been established that anyone could post in the thread by Roxy herself, everyone else’s videos were moved out!

Because after years of posting on this board she still doesn't know how to find topics that already exist and has no interest in doing so.  Same with the whole editing a post thing.  It's easy to do, quickly fixable if a blunder is made, but still she will make 5 threads with one post each to get the same point across.  And any time someone points that out or suggests doing those things to her it is met with the "I'll just leave if that's how you feel" response.  But she is a helpful and kind contributor that we all just have to give the benefit of the doubt and accept the eccentricities.

I'm torn.  On one hand she is hurting literally nobody.  She is having fun and sharing her interests like a cordial human being.  On the other hand, it's definitely a special treatment thing using the "doesn't know any better" mentality when mostly anyone else would be expected to conform to community standards.

Her reaction to any friendly, legit question is to get furious and threaten to leave the board. Then all the knights in shining armor come to her defense and it's a mess.

Several people have honest curiosity about the disparate treatment she receives, and it's always met with rage. Crazy.
