What did we learn - Maryland

I learned for all his coach speak, Rhule thought NU would win this game comfortably. Why else do you take the ball & go for 4th & 2 on the opening possession? Trying to win the game in the 1st quarter was a Frost era mistake, but no harm, no foul.

Ezkler continues to prove he's every bit as valuable as the OC & DC hires.

Growing pains and learning curves, but this program is making progress. I'll take the absence of signature wins with the absence of signature loses as a positive step. Minny on Friday night, LFG!

Sometimes I like to go on other teams' boards...

That’s more crazy than we are. Their freshman QB is good!! Their defense is hit/miss but at least making plays.
They lost because we are better.

We lost so many games the 10yrs because we beat ourselves. We won today because we overcame ourselves. At least we didn’t beat ourselves again. They lost because we were better today. If we can clean some stuff up we win that game by 10-14pts.
But at least we won.

Nothing learned. As others have mentioned, this is a VERY far from perfect team. Deficiencies have been obvious since game 1, slightly obscured by the wins against the JV teams in the weeks 2 and 3, but brutal too often. HOWEVER, this team is playing/competing FAR better than we've seen the last 10 years. You take the crap wins just as fast as the good ones.

Extra point, there have been guys on the sideline making a good chunk of change to hold the title of Special Teams Coach the last couple of years and they should repay every dime they got from NU. In six games Ekler has out performed them all combined and he takes dumps more productive than anything they "coached"
I don’t know…Cincinnati is looking pretty good right now.

I watched the game while I was working so I didn’t see everything, thank god I’m at a brewey! ….honest question, why were they dirty?

My stupid Fox One app kept crashing, but one time it came back on right when they were showing a replay of a late hit on Raiola. Maybe the most ridiculous and blatant late hit I've ever seen. I was surprised dude wasn't ejected. I think there were a couple other plays that made me think, "man, **** this team". But I don’t remember them so maybe they weren't that bad.

I think they had 3 unsportsmanlike penalties in the first quarter. 2 might have happened on the same drive.

It wasn't a late hit...it was an unnecessary hit...two different things.DR had thrown the pick, thus making him a "live" player, however the ball was so far down field that the hit by the Maryland player was umnecessary

This teams biggest turn around is the ability to flush a completely horrific play and move on. Teams of the past 10 years lose this game. Probably lose to Cincy as well. Sounds crazy to say this about guys who have played football for years, but Rhule has finally got them believing they can win and "learning" how to win....

the hit came about 7 seconds after the pick...was the play blown dead by then? and Dyan was hit and knocked to the ground....then he got up and was hopping on 1 foot to the sideline when another guy came in and hit him. hitting a guy who is trying to hop off the field on 1 foot even if the play might still be alive is a dirty hit IMO.

This wasn't an ugly game. If you didn't have a dog in the fight, you'd say it was a really exciting game with a ton of highlight plays.

Emmet's 50 yard run was among the best non-touchdown runs I've seen as a Husker fan. Even his six yard gains showed impressive field vision and timley jukes.

We can keep blaming the offensive line, but they are doing mostly good stuff most of the time. Raiola still holds the ball too long.

My life would be more pleasant if the Huskers won in blowouts, but something about the last two come from behind wins makes me think it is building a stronger team.

Q: what would Scott Frost's record be in that 3-9 season if he had just half the talent and focus of this year's special teams?
