What Did We Learn? - Michigan

I'd be cautious on October, we should be favored in every game, but you look at the history and other considerations: We have not beaten Minnesota in goodness knows how long. Maryland is not horrible. Michigan State has a great QB. Only game I feel really secure about is Northwestern, and even there, they have been really annoying in the past. I think 7-1 is very possible, but could also see 5-3. I sure hope for 7-1, we will need that.
I’d just like to be locked into a bowl prior to our last game of the season.

I wouldn't say Princewill was a key guy last year. He didn't play a whole lot. Maybe would've played more this season but his development wasn't the best. They should've paid Butler.

And I mean, we should have paid Tony White.

Like, let's say our program is actually serious about winning titles. Tony went from being paid $1M/year in year one to getting a 60% raise to go to $1.6M/year in year two.

What's another million dollars per year? Like, just beg, borrow, or steal the money. A good defense with this year's offense was a minimum of 9-3.

I don’t have any proof but I got the feeling Tony White and Butler didn’t see a lot of things the same. Tony, and Knighton, didn’t seem to take it well when Rhule brought Phil Snow on board to “audit” the defense last year either

What would Tony's defense look like without Ty and Nash? Our guys were in place to make the plays on most of the plays that hurts us. They just missed tackles or took bad angles, or just weren't fast enough. In general our defense was very successful except for 3 plays and that was with lesser talent. I tend to feel the coaching is there, we are just missing the key talent.

We just don't have the talent on the d-line to go without stunting and twisting. When a team with the running game of Michigan blocks it well, it's on our second and third level to make the tackle. Our absence of Big 10 level guys at DT was expected but I really thought we would be better at linebacker.

On the plus side, Raiola is the best QB we've had since Crouch.

Some people don’t like the corn coast. Not for any amount.
