Early returns this fall indicate Nebraska junior Jack McVeigh is starting to claim his. Coach Tim Miles said he noticed progress this summer when the 6-foot-8 forward prepared to play for his native Australia in the World University Games in August. “Jack looked really confident, he looked at ease and I thought he was shooting the ball better,” Miles said. “He put a lot of work into improving since last season — on his jumper and being quicker into his jumper.” The advancement has continued into fall camp. McVeigh, in 20 minutes off the bench in NU’s 76-72 exhibition victory at Mississippi State last week, was a key figure in the Huskers rolling up leads as big as 23 points. “Jack played exceptionally at Mississippi State,” Miles said. “He did a lot of the right things. He was on the board in rebounds (3), assists (2), steals (1), scoring (8) and made 3s (2 of 5). “When we stretched that lead, he was in the middle of all of it. I’m excited about his potential this year.” 1 Quote Link to comment
