Akron: What did we learn?

The first 10 pass attempts it looked like the offense was playing Akron on freshman difficulty. Raiola was beyond sharp, he played nearly perfect at the beginning of the game. When playing QB, having a bad opponent helps, but you still have to make the throws. Overall, it feels like a pre Riley era cupcake victory. There may be some issues with this team but every team has issues and this team is playing some of the best football this place has seen in the last decade.

We will get gashed during B1G play. Our run defense is not good.
If Raiola can do ball control thru our dink and dunk offense, it’ll help. But overall, our defense cannot hold up against a good run game.
I get it that we had some trouble last week with a mobile running QB. But, what is it about this game that made you say that. Yes, I know Akron is bad. But, they only had 113 yards rushing on 36 attempts. There were actually a lot of negative plays on rushing attempts.

First half they only had 30 yards rushing.

I'm very excited about Lateef's potential, but it's also difficult to not automatically worry about losing him to the portal. If any of you are rich, now would be the time to give him an NIL deal.
Same with Mozee tbh....Hard to "build" a team anymore. As soon as you show case a guy at this level, the secrets out. He's not "unproven" now so previous uninterested teams see what they could have now....Just the way it is now.

Exactly you know teams are going to be calling for him after the season offering money to come play for their program and another valuable point is how long does he want to be a backup for us if DR sticks around for 2 more years at least? I hope we don't lose him after the season.
I'm hoping with the way Rhule is building (team first, culture) that it might help to keep kids so long as we can be "competitive" with NIL. Hope he's getting some guys that are like Arch Manning and willing to stay to play. Also in a great position that by the time he gets the keys to the kingdom (2026 or 2027) NU will possibly be "back".

We’ve won a one score game. We destroyed a team we should have destroyed. Those two things haven’t happened in the same season for a real long time.

There are a ton of marginal teams and I actually think we are in pretty good shape. I’m seeing a lot of teams with absolutely no offense.

I’m glad we are not Kansas State or Iowa.

For Kansas State their qb can't carry the team on his shoulders with Dylan Edwards being out of action. I believe their offense was going to be built around DE and that was the reason why they were ranked to begin the season and for Iowa they have no run game which has hurt their pass game. Playing Iowa is always a tough game for us bc they are a lot of Nebraskan's on that team and they feel a certain way towards us.
