Are we though? Have we even tried to get any to visit? It's so quiet in that area.

Aren't Malcolm Simpson and Tyson Terry from that class? I got to think they will be needed this year.

During the season people felt we couldn't stop the run bc we were too light in the middle (not enough 300 lbs DT's). Other people would point out that we were about the same size as most other teams in the big (280- 290). So which is it? I know Juedy was not great. I also get we were young. Were we undersized for a 3 man front but OK for 4?

In the end, I'd feel better about 2 portal DT's that have 300+ next to their weight.

On the rare occasions when they did take a correct angle, or not run into the back of one of our DL, the actual tackling was horrendous. If these new guys can flow to the ball and then actually finish the tackle when they get there it will be a huge difference. Same for our DBs. I hope basic fundamental tackling and pursuit angles are a big thing for our new DC.

We are grabbing a lot of LB’s for sure. Any thoughts on talent vs coaching for lack of success? I know a non-existent DL didnt help.

That room has been hit by transfers: Randolph Kpai, Jimari Butler, Mikai Gbayor, Ismael Smith-Flores, Willis McGahee, Rahmir Stewart, Maverick Noonan, Roger Gradney. Some of that is probably bad evaluation in the recruits we were taking. But some is just needing to reload the room as well.

Yes. And yes we have. Venture into the portal recruiting theads made by Mav & Co.


they are both coming off injury and missed all of the season including the summer. Do not expect much.

Terry's surgery was at the end of his HS year. Missed spring training, so they redshirted him. Simpson had a minor injury. I think Lefotu will setup this fall as he was 305.

You are correct, it was shown during the season that the size of our D linemen wasn't that far off from other programs. Not sure if those programs were also running a 3-4 defense though.

Seeing that, I always wondered if our issues were two fold:

1) Our LBs were sucking so bad it made our D line actually look worse than they were.

and

2) Was our D line so young that they had the size, but not the strength that they would gain with another year or two in the program? Size is one thing. Size with strength is another.
