And i can understand that what I don't understand is the coaches can't tell us as fans that Ochaun Mathis is as advertised and then not hand out a blackshirt to him bc he hasn't earned one in practice. If he is advertised like the coaches say he is then he has done everything right to wear one or he isn't as advertised then and still has work to do.

His own mother said not to worry about it so why are you?

There lies the problem sir.  What does earning them even mean?

If you start you're on the Defense.  We've all turned this our own definition.  Give the shirt.  Pull the shirt.  No one should have shirt...Blah Blah.  Even when they held back black shirts for weeks they certainly didn't pull the stuff off huskervision.

It's become lame.  Again..give out 11 shirts and be done with it.

I don’t have a definition, I allow the coaches to create the definition and celebrate the tradition. That’s it.

What makes you think they haven't earned them?? Bc the coaches want to see how they are going to play first before they get one give me a break. You and I know that they already know how they are going to play bc of what practices show. You can't give me a example on how someone like a player Ochaun Mathis has to go on the field in order to produce or to show the coaches what he is capable of if you already knows he plays like a blackshirt in practice already.

Started looking at the stats for when Whipple first started at Pitt, when Pickett was just some mediocre unknown and not a Heismen-level guy and their roster was geared toward being a run-heavy team.

The first game Pickett threw it 41 times.  The second game he threw it 37 times.  The third game he threw it 51 times.

    You get the idea.

Pitt also graduated two 1,100 backs when he was hired, they didn’t have a strong RB room his first year.

What a crazy article, It made it sound like Frost stood on stage for a minute with a scowl on his face and refused to talk.  He walked up, she asked if he wanted to make a statement, he smiled and said let’s go to questions.

Putting someone who doesn’t have the tools to do the job in that spot is a failure on the boss. Dawson is a DL/OLB coach. Not a dedicated special teams guy. He had some experience in assisting before. Not leading the whole unit. That’s on Frost. This is also the fourth year in a row special teams has been horrible no matter who is in charge of the unit. That’s on the HC.

That’s not even true, he was a special teams coach for three years at Boston College.

Yeah, I always thought we were probably shooting a little too low.  There are just more transfers now-a-days.  That's just how it is everywhere.

I have us at 82 at the moment.  10 high school recruits and four new transfers as of now.  I hope that list is up-to-date.  I've tried to keep up with people not coming back but sometimes it's hard to separate the speculation for the actual announcements.  I still have Jurgens on that list even though it seems likely he's gone.  I took Deontre Thomas off because I thought it was reported that he's gone but I don't think that's official yet.

I'm also not 100% sure if the transfers are on scholarship or not.  Of the four in the link (highlighted in red) I know Williams and Bleekrode are on scholarship.  I assume Hill and Singleton will be.  Not sure on any others.

We seem likely to add Johnson and Gould to the list.  So we would have four more spots after those two.

This is awesome Mav!  Thank you so much for sharing.  Jamin Graham is still on your list.

  9. Everybody is having a meltdown for no reason, every other team that also fired their offensive coordinator hasn’t made a hire yet either. Of course other coaches are still out recruiting for their current teams, they are doing the jobs they are under contract and paid to do.

Based on what, exactly? The illegal formation call? The PI on Domann that gave them the margin of victory? The "disconcerting signals"?  The replays that needed to be overturned in the booth which  continuously showed how badly they were trying to screw us?

missed illegal formation on Nebraska’s first TD

    missed offsides on Michigan interception

took 2 Michigan TDs off the board

    overturned a fumble

didn't allow Michigan to sub on TD run

21 Nebraska points came off ref errors

in fairness they agreed PI call was bad…

It’s a process. Need to build up depth year after year so it doesn’t matter when you lose people. It doesn’t happen in one season. Maybe the offense will carry the defense next year

I agree, that was the point. I think our defense will be fine next year and offense should be better.

We're definitely making progress, but the thing is, AM is the one who gives us the best chance to win. A lot of our defense won't be back next year, either. What happens when an inexperienced QB takes the reigns, and young guys are on defense? It may very well be a step back.

we are losing 4 on the defense, maybe 5.
