  1. Shuffling Gerry around makes me nervous. If he has the potential to be a good-to-great safety. Put him there, redshirt him, let him learn the finer points of the position in Pelini's system, and let him be a long-term solution there.

Moving him around to "get him on the field" is fine, as long as you actually get him on the field, more than a cute token amount. I'd hate to see it turn into another Corey Cooper-type deal.

What if he has the potential to be a good-great LB?

As Dude said, this move should make you nervous, even if the risk is minimal. When you slide players around like this, from position to position, you run the risk of stretching them thin mentally, at the very least.... I'm all for getting our best players on the field, but there is some kind of risk involved for the player's long term development at their "true" position, and I was under the assumption that safety was Gerry's spot....

This is a true freshman, how do we know for sure that his 'true' position is safety? He's just starting in practices at Nebraska so maybe the coaches are finding out his 'true' position is actually at linebacker. I think this is something to worry about if it was a Redshirt Soph or Junior moving but not a true freshman.

  2. Is this the guy who was supposedly close to committing at the beginning of summer?

He was high on Nebraska and came out for the spring game, and a lot of people were speculating he would commit on the spot if he was offered while on campus. However, he left without an offer. A few weeks later, Nebraska offered, but his interest seemed to have cooled by then.

Sucks that the opportunity to close was there but we held-off on an offer that he ended-up getting anyway. We're improving but still a work in progress.

Based on the amount of flip-flopping that occurs with recruits I have trouble believing that even if he committed after the spring game that he would have stuck it out the whole time if things have changed so much since then.

  3. Any idea what this is going to do to the 4 non-conference games that have already been scheduled for 2016? Going to be pretty upset if that eliminates the No. Illinois game at Soldier Field...

It won't affect it at all. Nebraska has 7 home games scheduled for that season so the game vs. N. Illinois at Soldier Field will take place as scheduled.

I think the problem lies in there being 13 games on the schedule, only 12 regular season allowed.

  4. Any info on what kind of competition Fordon's playing in? I find it curious that he doesn't have at least 1 scholarship offer from anyone else. Recruiting is a funny business. Even in today's day and age, lots of guys slip through the cracks.
It might have something to do with whatever injury he had that in his words slowed down his senior season. there is another thread about who would be the surprise player out of this years signing class, well I think this guy will be it. When you watch him he does a great job of wrapping up, and getting his head across when tackling. If he can grasp Bo's defense mentally then he could see playing time quicker than most probably figure a walk-on would.

Because Providence is a Catholic School they play lots of other Catholic schools in Chiacgo. I believe they are in the 6A playoffs almost every year.(8 classes) But because they play other catholic teams they play alot of 5,6,7,8A class teams. High competition level.

They are 7A but they play in the same conference as the 8A state champions from the past year.

  5. I can't believe all the hate here... Dixon would be a huge keep if he decides to remain a husker... My hope is that he rethinks it and decides to stay :bigredn:.

Is this the first time you've read a thread after a recruit flipped? There is always hate afterwards, no surprise.

He played in pretty much the toughest conference in Illinois.

  7. I didn't know where else to put this, so since Ole Miss landed Treadwell somehow now it looks like 5 star OT Laremy Tunsil will be a Rebel. He didn't even list Ole Miss as a favorite until last weekend when he took an OV. He is from Georgia, and was considered a UGA lean since day one.

Not only that, they are somehow getting Christian Morris the OL commit from UCLA to visit this weekend.

No way they are going to get all these kids to play together as a team, only Nick Saban can do that with high calibur talent. Cant believe everyone just brushes this under the table, EVERYONE knows whats going on.

Bloggers at Yahoo are poo-pooing it....

Kids tweet out pictures of $100 bills all the time! Nothing to see here people, move on! :sarcasm

Nothing new here? They are predicted to get the TOP 3 kids in the 2013 class. That would be something new. This has never been done to my knowledge. They also have the number 1 JUCO. If they do they are predicted to have the No 1 overall class. Ole Miss, the number 1 class. The random blogger has a clear bias towards ole miss. They WILL NOT end up with the number 11 class.

Last year they signed 2 (TWO) 4 stars and had around the 20th class. Now they are going to sign 5..5 stars (FIVE) and this after a 7-6 record. Give me a break.

Way to pull out 1 article from a random blogger to back your point, its obvious whats going on here, even without the picture of money.

Guess I forgot something, fixed it for you...

    Edit: SARCASM!

  9. Red Reign on HuskerMax and several others were talking about Brandon Cavanaugh, aka Kid Nickels, aka FLU, aka Baton Rouge Husker. Obviously they have spent some time over here, but they say they are all one and the same. And apparently he even has a vote within the media polls because he was at one time given a UNL credential. That is what is being posted. Not sure if 100% true. Apparently he has been a quasi Husker journalist for a long time.

Writing for BR does not make you a journalist, anyone can go sign up for an account there and start "writing" for their favorite team. Did they say how someone like him would get a media vote? That's usually saved for actually journalists.

He's also writing for Corn Nation about to become a 'recruitnik'... http://www.cornnation.com/
