People can put out any stats they want to back up an opinion. Quit the crap about Big 10 defenses being better than last years big 12 defenses. When the offenses in the big 10 are is inept as they were this year, of course the conferences defenses are going to be good statistically. Throw the top 2 Big 10 defenses into a big 12 schedule and their ranking is going to suffer dramatically.

After seeing Carnes for all of 10 plays this year, the one thing that I can say with confidence is that the kid has an arm. No other distinctions can be made about him from what I saw. As for Turner playing QB, again I think we can all agree we learned almost nothing. What I saw though was certainly a kid that would be a nightmare to try to keep in the pocket and bring down for sacks. And when you have a below average O-line on pass protection, a guy like that can do wonders. For being a "mobile" QB, I think most agree Taylor is not a guy that buys time well, or even average. He's certainly made improvements this year, but he seems to lack the instinctual ability to get out of trouble in the pocket.

A players biggest leap is typically from year 1 to year 2 of game experience. Was that a big enough leap?

1. Taylor Martinez is not a QB, certainly not a QB that is gonna lead this team to any sort of championships. I think a good % of people already knew this, but on this board it was blasphemy to speak that opinion. I have so much more to say on this subject but will leave it be for now. Pry get crucified by you magic lovers. 2. Beck deserves a ton of blame for that 2nd quarter. After that big pass to Turner with 2ish minutes left and we go with 3 straight passes? Raise your hand if you saw a pick coming? Thought so. 3. Sean Fischer is a total liability. Remember the hype when he went down with an injury in fall camp last year? Everyone thought it was a big deal that he went down? Yeah... we lack depth at LB. 4. We absolutely don't have a #2 CB. Or a #3 CB/nickel for that matter. 5. Rex Burkhead is being wasted. If we ran the Rexcat all game, we put up at least 17 points. 6 carries in the first half? What a joke. Don't give me his stat line in the first half, 2 of his carries were for a huge 3 yards. One a big first down on 3rd and 1 where he as usual fights through contact in the backfield to get the first and his other a 1 yard TD that you can't convince me any other back on our team gets into the endzone on. 6. Martinez isn't a QB, but again anyone who watches this team that isn't blind has known that since last year. 7. Speed. Another one of those terms people on this board love to throw around. "Our offense is so fast look at our freshman and Reed!!" Why does anyone think we have any sort of significant speed advantage? Martinez in a straight line I'll give you that. No lateral movement, no shake and certainly no bake. The freshman I-backs? At best mixed results in the non-con and a no show with no opportunity in this game. Kenny Bell? "Oh he was so wide open on that play action pass that completely sucked up the safety so all he had to do was run right by him." (Bold is stuck on, its outta my control at this point) I don't get this board. Its the same board that says Zach Lee was garbage because he only lit up non-conf opponents but when our young guys make plays against the same crappy non-conf opponents there labeled as future stars. Basically, stop proclaiming anybody to be future studs until they put up meaningful performances against similar level of competition. 8. (Bold magically un-locks itself) I cannot get over the terrible decisions Martinez continues to make on a weekly basis. One read and he gets happy feet. Just imagine if Martinez would lose a meager 35% of his fumbles over his starting tenure the past year and a month. There is NO WAY any coach in America keeps him as a starting QB. The ball does not normally bounce your way the way Martinez's 30ish fumbles have the past 2 seasons. And his decisions throwing the ball are just awful. Awful. There's no way to defend it but Martinez backers go ahead and give it your best. Maybe we have nobody else, but if he's the future then were in for a crappy few years.

Can we please stop with this pervasive myth once and for all. 1.Myth: Ciante Evans was a stud last year. Reality: The only play people remember Ciante making last year is the pass breakup against Missouri in the end zone. Go back and look at the play yourself, he was beat by at least half a step but the ball was slightly under thrown allowing him to make the play. There is no other image anyone can say they remember as Ciante making a play. He played against mizzou and again against ISU and was beaten time and time again against the clones.

Oregon's TOP is a bad comparison to most other teams in the country. It's like apples to oranges with their pace. There average plays per game would be a much more relevant stat in my opinion. Oregon's offense doesnt just score fast in 1 big play, they consistently move the ball down the field, at a frenetic pace which exhausts the other teams defense, and scores fast. There is a significant difference in my opinion.

Cant believe all the hate on rex. Did you not see him get hit at or behind the line of scrimmage time after time and still fight his way forward for a yard or two? As for him running the wrong way on the option TD, from the tv glimpse i saw it didnt appear martinez even turned to tell him the audible, maybe i missed it. Oh and the spacing on the option was rex's fault? you mean the time martinez took it all the way to the boudary then handed it to rex? or the other 5 times that the blocking was poor and it was blown up in the backfield. I would put the majority of the option failures on the o-line, as would most i presume, but martinez needs to make guys commit one way or another before he pitches it. He looked hesitant and predetermined on whether or not he was going to pitch it from the start. Again, this is not all on martinez at all, the blocking was bad.
