  1. I love your optimism and I hope you're right. I have more doubts than you, but I love the Huskers win or lose (but a wee bit more when then win). GBR!
  2. I didn't agree with Pud. I think that the Huskers were on track. I think that Solich's new look coaching staff (Pelini, Cotton, etc.) were definitely on track, and I think that recruiting would have gotten better because of them (not Callahan good, but better than ranked in the 40's). How many of Solich's recruits helped us win this game today? A good number. With that being said, what's done is done. No point holding a grudge or looking at the past, because that isn't going to help us move forward. Callahan will likely be the coach for at least 2 more seasons after this one, so I support him and his staff. I think they are likeable guys who work as hard as any other coaching staff out there. I don't know if the NFL guys have quite adapted to the college game, but they showed serious improvement today and that's all I really want.
  3. I don't know about you, but 2 TD's in the red zone in OT kind of gave me confidence that these guys can score.
  4. at the end of the year, how long do you estimate before Callahan (and likely Pederson) get the axe? I am trying to stay positive and look on the bright side, but I think I am starting to absorb some of the negativity of my co-workers. If our offense is anemic in nearly every game this year, do you think this will be it for Callahan? I think he gets one more year regardless. Of course, if (god forbid) the consecutive sellout streak ends, this will definitely get the board of regents attention.
  5. Reading through most of the topics, there is doom and gloom all over the place. The Pitt game was certainly ugly, but it was a win and I know that a few of you were predicting a loss. Why speculate about the future games on the schedule when we really have no clue what will happen? Sure the offense hasn't scored a lot of points, but I think they have improved. The first half of the Pitt game we showed that we could sustain some drives, the O-line did a lot better run blocking and Cory Ross did a great job, and we had no turnovers. Definitely some good things to build on, and the staff has two weeks. Perhaps the offense will sputter, maybe it will gel - the point is we don't know. I certainly won't throw this season away. The kids are playing hard and deserve our support. GBR
  6. I heard he had a great time, liked what he saw, and is giving some serious thought to committing early.
  7. Callahan wants to succeed. He certainly doesn't want to lose games. Getting fired will not help BC find a job anywhere else in the country (look at Solich's hard time landing a job). BC has a point when he refers to USC's success with the WCO. When it clicks with the proper personnel, it can be pretty unstoppable. Our players also want to win. They certainly don't put up a lackluster effort because they don't care. Maine has shown they can step up in big games (at least we weren't Mississippi State last year). Have patience. I'm guessing that if things don't work out by the end of next season, we will have a new coaching staff.
  8. It seemed Taylor was right on the money for quite a bit of the game. I can't remember that many incompletions either. Even though there were several drops, I think there were also several more catchable balls that just weren't. From what I heard, receivers weren't catching hardly anything that wasn't right at the numbers. I was disappointed last night, but after a day of reflection I don't think things are that bad. A lot of teams struggled against lesser competition, and there is lots of time to get better. I don't think anyone is really giving any credit to Maine. They played with a lot of heart, and that counts for a lot.
  9. To those who saw the game, what is your analysis? It sounds like most of the pass coverage breakdown was up the middle. It also sounded like most of our runs were right up the gut. Is this a one guy problem or the whole unit? Hopefully just one guy is throwing us out of synch, which would make the problems much easier to correct.
  10. It's nice to see so much optimism, but I am a little more pessimistic. Thank god that Wake Forest and Pitt both struggled in their openers too. Hopefully we can get back on track, but our offense was kind of pathetic. Some really easy catches were dropped, and if the pass wasn't right on the money, it wasn't caught. The biggest concern is the lack of a running game. Exactly why couldn't our running backs make plays? Why couldn't our O-line open holes? It will be interesting to see if Callahan and company can make the necessary adjustments.
  11. I was actually worried about the linebacking corps going into tonights game. Granted it was Maine, but it was still a stellar effort. GBR!
