  1. Sorry, I think I pretty much duplicated another thread......Feel free to nuke.
  2. Hey guys, I haven't been here in a while, but I was just wondering what you think about the state of the B1G (probably not good). Somebody needs to win a big bowl game (preferably against some SEC team) some time this decade. Nebraska makes that more feasible. How are you feeling about your season at this point? You guys are obviously always pretty damn good. I know you were disappointed about last season, but your school has high expectations for football every year. Many teams (like, ahem, Minnesota) would be thrilled with your record last year. My feeling is that the B1G is going to get stronger, but maybe not quite this year. I am just so sick about hearing how the B1G sucks so bad. I think it will come back a bit over the next couple years, and when it does, I hope somebody from our conference destroys someone from the annoying SEC. Thoughts?
  3. Nebraska is a household name in college football and MSU is "up and coming." Nebraska is a guarantee when it comes to selling out bowl games, tv ratings ,etc. I think Nebraska would have a better chance than MSU.
  4. The media, in general, loves to print misleading, "shocker" headlines, without context.....It's all about "clicks" and web advertising....they grasp for straws.
  5. Here's a little love from our local media, for your reading pleasure..... http://detnews.com/article/20111028/SPORTS0202/110280344/1132/sports0202/Nebraska-football-boasts-legendary-status--support
  6. It would throw the Spartan D off, from the standpoint that a Wildcat QB is easier to identify from the shotgun instead of under center. Interesting. Yeah but, if we know about this on a message board, it's not really a secret anymore....Diversionary tactic?
  7. MSU's free board is the Red Cedar Message Board at SpartanTailgate.com. It's where most of the best (and worst because it is tRCMB) discussion takes place. Thanks a lot!! It'll be a TERRIFIC game. GBR!! You sort of have to take the Red Cedar Message Board (spartantailgate.com) with a grain of salt - even if you're a MSU fan. The whole spectrum of fans is there, including the "fringe." It can be very entertaining.
  8. Strange, they never called us classy, isn't that right Badger_HB i love our badger fans (that have stuck around) as far spartan fan..... welcome. I know I am thrilled to be a part of the big 10. I miss our old big 8 foes, but in general I am much happier with the big 10 than the "big" 12. Speaking of Badgers, I've been to Madison for a game and it was awesome. It's a great college town and a great campus. The people were very nice and welcoming to us. Cheese curds and beer....mmmm.
  9. Lots of astute comments on here....I think you guys pretty much have it figured out. Our offensive line is vulnerable and our offense stalls a lot, especially if we can't get a running attack going. It'll look great one minute, and then go 3 and out for the next three possessions. On a scale of 1 to 10, Cousins' escapability is a -3. If you can get into our backfield enough, you will probably win. Cousins can look great at times, but then he'll just make bizarre decisions that affect the outcome of a game - like throwing red zone interceptions, or waiting too long in the pocket and getting sacked in critical situations, throwing off his back foot, fumbling the ball, etc. I love the kid, but he's gotta clean up some of that stuff in order to be considered a very good or great QB. It just seems like MSU has a tendency to make stupid mistakes that end up hurting us a lot....In the Wisconsin game, we fumbled on the first play of our 1st possession, handing Wisky an invitation to our end zone for a quick 6 points. Thankfully, we were able to overcome that, but eventually mistakes like that will lose you games - especially on the road in a hostile environment, in the Big Ten.
  10. Thanks for all the nice posts....It's a beautiful thing. You'll likely get a few bad apples in here along the way, but I think most of the B1G fan base tries to be classy (well, most of the time). Besides being a perfect fit for the Big Ten athletically, the B1G academics are also a much better fit for NU. At the end of the day, academics is what it's all about. NU is a big state school with big academic and research aspirations. Hopefully, being in the conference will lead to more research dollars and to other academic collaborations with other B1G schools (like study abroad programs, etc). Let's play some good football....and cure cancer! I'm glad we got Nebraska and not Missouri (sorry Mizzou, no offense).
  11. Fixed it for you. Were actually NU. Northwestern can be nu if they want but we are the real NU! Oops, I didn't realize you use NU. I've always just thought of Nebraska as "Nebraska" or "University of Nebraska- Lincoln"....So much for making a good first impression. Thanks for setting me straight. I fixed it.
  12. Thanks, I'm loving every second of it! After years of putting up with the arrogant sense of entitlement of some of their fan base (and people in their program like Lloyd "there was a crown in the field" Carr), it's nice that they're a little quieter (not enough) now, and maybe just little humbler.....On second thought, they're probably not any humbler (which makes them even funnier). Pride comes before the fall....HAHAHAHA! Ya gotta love the Curse of Michael Hart. Priceless.
  13. Believe me, there's nothing I'd like to do more, but I have to do family stuff this weekend. I'll definitely try to get out there for the next game in Lincoln. You're right, though - it is a pretty good trek to get out there from Michigan. Geography is the only (sort of) disadvantage for NU being in the B1G. Then again, you had to travel to as far as Texas in the Big 12, so maybe there's not a huge difference......
