On a similar note, and from the reports, it seems we have hit on Farmer and Pola-Gates at safety (as much as you can 'hit' on two players who haven't seen any action :B)). Some speculation but Jones, Gray and Francois may have thought they'd be handed a starting spot after a year on an up-and-coming team but have seen the writing on the wall... just my 2 cents or red colored glasses.

Two players you named are an example of the ultimate combination. Hit on your eval for the "underrated" prospect in Farmer and land the "star" in NPG. When you do that and you are right, the roster gets dangerous (for other teams).

However, there is no NPG in this DB class to this point.

To that point, unlike LSU's D Coordinator and his staff, I feel this staff will over recruit its roster. Which will force those that are dead weight to move on. Whereas BP allowed kids that didn't contribute stay on scholarship. He also routinely did not fill his classes. This staff is almost always going to take its maximum scholarship allotment every cycle(+3 included).

So far they have done a great job of that, which is encouraging. It's been a break even due to the turnover, hopefully as the program stabilizes it becomes an advantage.

Typically speaking, the more high profile players are more prima-donna's and more apt to transfer, especially if they don't get immediate playing time.  IMO.

I respect your opinion and you could be right. But also typically speaking, the lower level prospects are more likely to be "dead weight" for 4-5yrs never contributing....which is just as damaging.

I would agree.  Not to mention we haven't exactly had the greatest success with high profile commits in the secondary recently (Francois, Gray-I know, covid and extenuating circumstances).  My point is I would rather recruit someone that needs developing and will be here for 4 years (assuming it's not a wasted scholly on a non-contributor), than a high star guy who doesn't even make it to the season or transfers after a year.

So you are assuming the four star will transfer but then assuming the lesser prospect will develop into a player, talk about creating a scenario that fits your narrative.

Oh well, i'll continue to give Fisher the benefit of the doubt because of the job he's done since he's got here but there are some ins/outs that confuse me.

Don't really understand why folks are down on this class. Watching all these kids videos and I see why the staff offered, and believe this class is very underated. Remember some of these kids would have got a ratings bump if there were camps or a senior season.

Because we aren't looking at it through rose colored glasses while working on our sixth glass of Kool-aid, to put it nicely.

I believe he is going on his own dime. I don’t know if it is an OV per the Iowa writer.

Ah gotcha. Still not nearly as scary as a real/normal year OV would be.

You may end up right, but i'm sticking to my guns for now.

Yes and I just think the relationship with LSU continues to be strong, probably just as strong as with Frost and co. That campus tour is also conveniently when LSU plays Texas. The longer it goes the worse it gets for us in my opinion.

I'd be surprised if that OV happens, or if fans are there, or if the game actually happens.

Farrell thinks Neville helps with Fidone. Gorney thinks we lead with or without Neville’s recent commitment.

Does he say why? I don't see an obvious connection between Neville and Fidone?

Obviously they feel he is underrated. Or we aren’t too hot recruiting wise in the DB room. Or both. Not sure here but hey. Mike Hughes was an eye raiser for UCF too.

Don't see the comp here.....Mike Hughes was darn near a 4star, with offers from UF and Auburn coming out of HS. Talent was never an issue for Hughes, he had to mature in other areas of his life.
