Just came from the game. All 3 qbs stink. That is all. Go big red.

Regardless of their individual skills or lack of, they shouldn't be asked to execute plays utilizing skills they don't possess.  I put a lot of this on Satterfield.

I can’t decide if I should pay the one month peacock subscription to watch our offense suck and underperform. After last week’s game, my hopes for this offense have vanished.

I eventually justified it because of the 3 addional basketball games.  (By the way, is there any rationale for why the Husker radio call on BOTH football and basketball and the various TV providers can't synchronize the call?) Probably have to be accomplished on the Husker end by the crack in-house wizardry, but I'm almost sure that was accomplished years ago, way before quantum leaps in technology. I really enjoy the inside knowledge of local talent vs. the limited imports that butcher names and FACTS. Who you conna call?

You are probably correct but a caveat worth noting is that his favorite target is almost always Fedoni and scouts surely will know that as well.  It's almost as predictable as always keeping on the option. Seems like some serious self-scouting would be beneficial.

I don't think he was seeing the safety sit.  From the high-angle replay on a slowed-down view, it's easier to see.  But I don't know how there's any way he'd be expecting the safety to turn the deep guy loose.  The safety was right with Bullock.  If that's Trey Palmer, yeah, I say turn that one loose and count on Palmer out-running him.  When your choice is between the walk-on WR who looks like the safety is going with them and the high-four-star TE who has the linebacker beat, I'm going to the TE 10/10.

With there being 20 days until the first game that counts + they have a "secret" scrimmage with Utah on Saturday, it's time to guess starting lineups.

PG - Lawrence/Coleman - whichever doesn't start will likely be the first off the bench most games.  I'm guessing Lawrence will win the starting job.

    SG - Tominaga

    SF/Wing - Williams

    PF/Wing - Gary

    C - Mast

    PG - Coleman/Lawrence

    SG - Wilcher

    SF/Wing - Lloyd/Rice

PF/Wing - Allick - he will probably be the first "big" off the bench.

    C - Keita

Hard to figure out between Lloyd & Rice.  Rice was impressive in Spain this summer & not much was said about Lloyd.  Rumors were that Lloyd looked really good in practice while he redshirted last year.

I'm sure Hoiberg will be in the rotation.

Jacobson might find his way into the rotation based on his performance in Spain.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Diop redshirt.

Ulis will sit until the NCAA decides what to do with his gambling issue.  Based on what NCAA rules are and what he's admitted to, I'd be shocked if he ever plays college basketball again.

Grace & Burt will probably only play in mop up situations.

Hearing rumblings that Keita still not healthy yet

I was thinking about this watching the first half too.  It’s definitely weird.

To be honest, it's very difficult to change someone's "natural" throwing motion. Even with hundreds of reps, at crunch time, it invariably reverts back into it's natural position. Suggesting that coaches are  actively teaching someone to intentionally throw sidearm is probably incorrect.

  7. Interesting that our 3 remaining top targets all reside  in the killer "B" alphabetical category. (Baker, Brix, Benning). Landing all 3 would seem destined to forever group them together in a remembered Cadre for better or worse. I'd love to land all three, but with all the surrounding uncertainties, I'd happily settle for 2 out of 3. Realistic shot or Wishful thinking?

That's horrible news.   Just when I was starting to feel a bit of optimism about the running game.  This offense just cannot catch a break.  I would withold judgment on Satterfield this season.  It's going to be bad, and it's not all his fault.

Emmett "Mr. Football" Johnson, come on down.

I wouldn't sleep on Emmett just yet. Very talented, just unproven. Hopefully he will surprise us.

I believe we would win with both, but with Deion it comes sooner with the risk of him leaving after 2-3 seasons vs taking 2-3 years to possibly turn a program around. Matt Rhule is proven. His offensive staff is not. His QB is not. Love the defensive staff.  I truly believe this program will not return to glory without taking the current blueprint to win titles (Money out the wazoo). We didn’t spend anything compared to top programs this year on staff, recruits, etc

You make some interesting points, but the larger question remains..........how do you clone Dion? (IF  you agree with my premise that HE would NOT come here)

I was in this forum a year ago saying exactly what would happen with Deion, and it came true in Colorado. But you know, let’s keep doing what we are doing so we get more Jeff Sims

I would submit that the Dion versus Rhule argument is incongruous simply because there is only one Deon. Deon would never come to an "uncool" place like Nebraska  because it doesn't fit his persona. I'm not judging whether that's correct or not, or even fair or not; but the reality is that  Colorado is a perfect FIT for the elitist bandwaggoners who don't historically have much passion for college football. This hire at Boulder is a rare golden junction of opportunity. There just aren't very many Deons out there.  To roughly quote Bum Phillips, "I don't know if he is the best of all time, but it don't take long to call the roll".  Most believed it would take Coach Rhule a few years to establish his culture and methods and recruits and accepted that over the last 8 months. Now, after two games, a few are suggesting it can't be done. Really?  After two games on the road vs.  2 power 5 opponents? (and leading the nation in turnovers);  I'm more that willing to continue to trust in the process and then see if development can even the field. GBR

So, does the Pac-12 have any assets once the 10 leave?

Thought I read today that the Oregon State coach's salary is $5 million a year; and the Pac 12 payout is also $5 million a year.  Something is wrong with this picture.

Good stuff, Guy. Especially "what exactly is Big 10 football" at this point.

"Physical & talented defenses" sticks out as being on the list. But as you mention, in recent years a lot of spread offense and snaps from the shotgun have come into play for most teams.

But another that sticks out to me is good coaching. I really didn't expect Barthel & Rhule to do something late in the game like put Grant in over Ervin, really didn't. I'm big on not focusing only on a late game error but rather the game as a whole, and obviously our offense f***** up for pretty much four quarters straight. But if we're even going to be a team that makes a bowl game most seasons, the in-game coaching gaffes have to stop.

Not to mention the pre-fumble series where we were obviously tiring their run D out, and we (despite all the off-season blather about the importance of the physical 4th quarter 4 minute offense) throw it on all 3 downs, not only going counter to our preferred style, but taking virtually no time off the clock? Baffling.

College game day 8/26 and they talk about Nebraska...

"Well, Nebraska has a new coach.... again"  *snicker*

"wonder when they will ever win a game again"  *ha ha ha*

I know respect has to be earned, but I hope Coach Rhule plays the clip for the players and tells them from the get go, it's time to make a statement.

Nothing would make me more proud than to see Kirk Herbstreet and the rest of the SEC loving people at ESPN eat their words.

Actually Herb Street has been pretty fair over the years and respects the program .... it's Desmond Howard who adds nothing but negativity and ignorance to the show
