It's a crazy basketball world. Chucky goes to Wisc (and now is in the portal.) Huskers poach one of Wisconsin's better high school players and now maybe a kid off their team.

Hope Hoiberg sees that a ball handling point is needed.  Uconn guards are eating Purdue up!

If Ulis is available next year it would help. It put us in a bind when he was penalized but those charges were dismissed. Not sure if Janowski is a point or a two.

"Nebraska guard Keisei Tominaga (leading scorer, 20 pts) was the biggest problem. The left-handed guard had 18 first-half points and scored literally at will. Freshman Gabe Cupps, who did a great job guarding Northwestern's Boo Buie on Sunday, was completely overmatched. Trey Galloway and C.J. Gunn took their shots, too, but to no avail."

Nothing brings on the positive vibes like booing your own team at home.

  4. Even though Tom O had one of the best coaching careers ever, it still could have been much better and would compare to Saban's now. The loss to Clemson was winnable, the PSU lost cost us a chance to play for a natty, The loss to Miami was winnable, the loss to Fla St was a robbery gift to the Fla St coach, the loss to Texas in the Big 12 championship game (when so many of our players were sick with flu all week) cost us arguably another natty.

Mast getting fouled at the end was not the only time Illinois "stripped" the ball and no foul was called.  Virtually every time they drove and the ball was stripped there was a lot of arm & a little ball (especially in the first half), but on the other end it was always called.

The other thing that annoys me is that every time Keisei comes off a screen the defender is grabbing his jersey and it gets called maybe once per game.  If they truly want to have freedom of movement, then that needs to be called every time.  Tominaga would shoot 20 free throws a game and the other team would be in foul trouble five minutes into the game.

That is one reason Big Ten teams don't do well in the NCAA Tourney most years. They get officials who have a vested interest in calling a fair contest if they want to keep working and Big Ten teams get into foul trouble 10 minutes into the first half.

The shooter drives and tries to jump back to his left to counter-act his momentum taking him to his right.  Wilcher's chest runs into his shoulder which pushes him back to he right.  That's about as easy of a call as it gets.

I remember seeing this play live and wondered where the foul was. Upon replay from another angle Wilcher closed out quickly and bumped into the shooter.. It was a good call. Likewise the play with Mast at the end of overtime should have been called with Mast shooting three free throws. The Illinois defender made contact with Mast's arms causing the ball to pop free.

  7. For a team without a true point guard and no real 5 in the paint to command the boards, Fred has gotten the most out of this team. From what I remember of Fred at Iowa St he didn't use a true 5 there either. Playing on the road against a team with decent bigs and a veteran point guard is the recipe for disaster. They are what they are. If we can hold our home court and somehow manage a road win or two we should see the NCAA tourney. If we get the NIT then maybe we get the home court advantage for a few games. That might not be bad.

  8. Good grief. Don't score for 10 minutes, give up 25 offensive rebounds. Diop needs to grow up quickly. It's not the first game we've been out hustled. If Fred would have told the team to shoot as soon as they crossed half court they probably would have made a couple.

  9. They go one game moving the ball and can't miss a shot to throwing lazy ill timed passes, not moving through the zone and settling for a difficult three. Very lazy defense. All five players with their back to the Iowa post waltzing into the lane for a layup. Red hot or ice cold.

  10. Gibson Pyle and Grant Brix  both had several pancakes today. Pyle looks like a very good pick up for the Huskers. Give them both a year in the weight room and we'll have a solid line in a few years.

  11. I read a month ago the high school team Dylan had transferred to in Georgia was not having a good season and heard today that in the last game of the season Dylan was only in for the last play of the game to throw a hail mary pass which was incomplete. Don't know if he was injured or he was not playing well. Possibly Georgia told him to seek another team like Ohio St did to McCord. Rhule has some decisions to make over and above who the O coordinator will be.

  12. Does Nebraska have even one player that can keep anyone from driving to the basket? How many times did a Husker play off of a Bluejay and watch him drive to the basket? We lost our composure and decided to get into a run and gun game when we aren't built that way. A team can't quit playing defense and get back into a game.

I don't believe in curses, I believe we made this s#!tty bed that we have to sleep in every night.

HOWEVER, if there was an event that started the curse, it isnt Solich firing.  Its the god damn flea kicker catch between frosty and davidson against missouri in 97.  While we won the title that year, that play zapped every single source of good luck/good will out of progrum for good in order to make that happen and keep the 97 season alive.  Its the only way to explain the title that never was in 99 and the decline from elite that we witnessed beginning in the last month of 2001.

Everyone knows curses abide by Newton's 3rd law of physics.  A curse this vicious couldve only been born by something magnificent and extraordinary- that fateful evening in columbia in 97 cursed us all to this day

One would think that 26 years should be sufficient to pay the price for that 97 championship. It's time to get back on top!
