  1. There are reasons that coaches should not have relationships with players and I'm betting it is part of a code of conduct that is part of their contract. Coaches determine playing time and when a player needs to be taken out of a game. If that judgement is skewered by the coaches feelings for one of the players then his loyalty to his head coach, the university and the other players is in question.

And that’s fine. Time to operate like a big boy program. Fisher said it best. We’re trying to bring in someone better than you every year.

I agree fully. The days of waiting 4 or 5 years for a high school athlete to mature and blossom are nearly over. Nowadays the thinking is find a guy with one or two years left and plug them in.

I fully admit I could be way too close to the sun here and my perspective is colored by seeing Genatone on the wrestling mat (where I'm always going to biased towards wrestlers) and on the track.  Dude is just a flat out stud athlete, top 1 or 2 in the state easily.  The good news is we get to see how this plays out and if Genatone turns out to be the 2nd coming, he'll have opportunities to transfer.

In the words of every Star Wars character “I have a bad feeling about this!” Vince G is one of those hard nosed players every team needs. Very smart and athletic and unfortunately going to Montana not Nebraska.

Probably ok if you're an SEC team

After the Supreme Court told the NCAA hands off on players benefiting from NIL it seems to be the wild wild west for college sports in general and football in particular.  What got SMU on the death list is now the way of the football world. There will be an even bigger divide between the haves and the have nots in the next few years. Hopefully there is enough money in the coffers for the Huskers to rent a few O and D linemen.

  5. I have said this before here but it speaks to the reality of college football. It was either the first or second year of the Frost Era. The S and C coach was quoted as saying to the group of kids in for weight lifting. He said “ It’s my job to make you a stronger better football player but it’s the coaches job to recruit over you.” We have seen that happen in the last month. New coaches and better recruiters with a sense of urgency have found arguably better players than we had. Now it’s up to last years players to learn the new playbook, get stronger and faster and show they are serious about competing.

But don't you know that all of our offensive issues were on Adrian Martinez?! We still gained 450 ypg solely because of the OL and not because we had an escape artist at QB...

Not sure if you are tongue in cheek here since I didn’t see a “sarcasm “ emoji. AM gained a lot of yards on his own but it seemed we had issues many times getting the running backs positive yards in the red zone. I’m hoping that improves.

If we add another DB to the team I think it’s safe to say that several if not more of our current DBs will transfer. It’s a good coaches job to recruit over current players. There can be no waiting in the que for your right to play.
