  1. I obviously haven't watched the game to scout his entire performance, but it definitely seemed that Rodriguez was playing pretty poorly. I mean, 2 false starts, on the same drive? Figure it out.

AR had 1 false start but the second one MSU had clearly jumped offsides. Other than those 2 penalties, did anyone see anything that suggests AR played poorly?

He looked pretty poor to me. Especially the play he totally whiffed on 2 guys and Taylor got creamed. He's gotta block ONE of them.

I hate to pick on Huskers but ARod has really been struggling the last three or four games. There's been more than a few plays where he hasn't blocked anyone. My DVR is on the fritz so I haven't gotten to re-watch as much as usual so maybe he is playing well some of the time but he's been very noticeable for several bad plays recently.

  2. Not to dampen anyone's spirits, but I think we got majorly lucky at the end. Take a look at the winning TD and you'll see none other than RT Andrew Rodriguez getting away with obvious holding. If that flag gets thrown, there's a ten second runoff and time runs out.

Not to nit-pick but that wouldn't have been a 10 second runoff. The time runoffs are only when there's a pre-snap penalty with the clock running - false start, illegal formation, etc.

  3. Gotta give him a lot of credit. Had all the sanctions and players leaving, and his team is still playing solid. At the end of the day we are more talented and the game is at home. I don't see a problem here....McGloin can't scramble.

True...but how many times this season have we played teams that we out-matched and out-classed on paper close? Let's see, we've got:

    -UCLA

    -Wisconsin

    -Northwestern

    -Michigan State

All four teams that, on paper, we run circles around. And all four games in which multiple board members went around saying we're going to blow 'em out of the water...

I have a feeling that this week's game against Penn State will be more of the same--we'll shoot ourselves in the foot, and make a spectacular 4th quarter comeback attempt. Problem is, Penn State is resilient and disciplined enough to quell any sort of resurgence by our team...

Do I think we'll win? Yes. But it may be closer than people think, especially in the 4th.

UCLA probably stands but I think it's now pretty obvious that they are better than expected and we weren't as good as we hoped.

Wisconsin got their points after one big play, a fumble on our 23 yard line, a roughing the kicker penalty that kept a drive alive and a fumble on our 13 yard line. Not exactly running up and down the field on our defense - 295 total yards, 1.4 yards per rush.

Northwestern scored after a fumble on our 14 yard line, a shanked punt, one big play, and another drive where they took over near mid-field. 301 total yards - 3.3 yards per pass attempt.

Michigan St. scored on a drive featuring two pass interference penalties, one big play, one really good drive to start the second half where they settled for a field goal, and an INT ran back to our 38 yard line and assisted by a gift late hit. Bell did have 36 carries for 188 yards rushing but it included runs of 3,1,1,3,-1,2,3,1,2,2,1,3,1,0,1,2,-2,1,3,0,3, and 1 yard. That's 22 carries for 31 yards - not exactly gashing us. He had almost half his carries on three runs - 23,40, and 26 yards. If you get 36 carries your bound to break a couple but his other 33 carries netted 99 yards (3.0 ypc). Not a great day but not exactly terrible.

Obviously the defense had a few self-inflicted problems but many of the scores we've given up in those games were when the defense was put in a bad position through no fault of their own. In the last three games you listed (other than UCLA), the defense has given up a total of three TDs where the offense started on their side of their 45 yard line.

As has been stated, we've been our own worst enemy.

  4. The 247 link in the OP doesn't seem to work. Should be here.

They apparently think Purdue has the edge at the moment but you'd think a return trip here - where we don't have an underclassman on the two-deep at tackle - would really be a good sign.

  5. We're a republic, correct, but that has nothing to do with the presence/absence of the electoral college

Yes and no. You don't have to have an "electoral college" to be a republic. But the electoral college was one mechanism put in place to institute the republic.

  6. I don't care that they advertise at me. I'm intelligent enough that I'll read up on these guys and form my own opinions. Political advertising doesn't mean squat to me - it's just an annoyance, and something to recycle.

Don't have enough +1s to use on this one.

  7. Guys, I don't know about how this works but Romney is up 19 to 3 in electoral votes currently.

Do I need to be worried? Like, seriously, do I need to be really worried? Guys, please. Help.

North Carolina, Virginia, and Ohio. If he gets those 3...then you worry.

    :yeah

The "lead" will probably swing several times based on when the polls close. Especially with California being one of the late poll closing and biggest pickup for Obama. California will likely be between 15% to 20% of Obama's total for the night so that will give him a huge "jump" when the polls close there.

  8. Its called an opinion. Martinez really? 3 INT's and almost a costly fumble, card could be played the same way.

I can't give the game ball to Martinez, 3 INTs is just unacceptable. He ran great, he made the big plays when he needed to at the end. But he didn't play a perfect game.

You can't give a guy that threw 3 picks the game ball. If it wasn't for a penalty one of those picks sealed the loss.

So let's recap. Martinez is the co-Offensive Player of the Week in the Conference, a finalist for the Player of the Week for the entire nation, but some are insisting that he couldn't possibly be the MVP for our team. Interesting.

  9. On a related note, I've been noticing Choi on the sideline a lot. Did he even play in this game?

Choi started the game. Not sure why he was on the sidelines. I didn't notice.

We rotate a lot of lineman. I think we consistently use 8 or 9 linemen to stay fresh and be able to run the hurry up offense.

Choi has been playing less the last two or three games. Not sure if that is more confidence in Pensick or less confidence in Choi. Hopefully the former because fresh legs and more depth are a great thing.

  10. Sounds logical. Glad they cleared it up that that PI was the last play of the game. I was under the assumption that if that call was not made, we woulda been able to kick a field goal to go to overtime and win there. Guess I was wrong though. Too bad. Now this win really is tainted.

Or that there was a pretty questionable late hit that gave them four extra points. Pretty sure the B1G has it in for Sparty.

  11. Apparently no one wants to say. But there's usually one injury that causes the coaches to take away your helmet and that's what happens so it will probably be a couple day before they say much about whether he'll play or not.

  12. 5

The magic number is five counting the championship game and the Rose Bowl. Too many times have I seen us in a great place to win a conference championship and play in a BCS only for us to f#*k up.

Get it done this year boys!!!!!!!!!! The magic number is 5 and no less. 12 win season would shut a lot of Bo doubters up.

That would be the TMagic number! :koolaid2:
