  1. I would be ok with it with our low numbers thus far, but it still baffles me how we don't have any other WR targets (off topic I know)....

As for the WR spot. Alonzo Moore probably ends up there if things go the right way. There is a lot of young talent at the position right now, so it wasn't an overly pressing need. The coaches are raving about what Tariq Allen did on the scout team. I think he becomes a stud

With Enunwa, Bell, Turner, Allen and Westerkamp, we are pretty set at WR for a few years. One is good for this class.

  2. We can always use a good OL. Seems like we are always short of those....at least lately

Agree. Seems to me like two per class should be the absolute minimum. Even if we get Peat (*hoping*) I still wouldn't mind another. Especially with talked of a transfer out.

  3. Also been rumblings that braylon heard may make the move to cb. A lot of schools originally recruited him in that position including OSU.

Heard?! That's a new one to me. I think a few people mentioned Abdullah moving to CB.

I heard that also (not pun intended). That seems odd to me as Abdullah seemed to be the #2 RB by the end of the year.

  4. From ESPN:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have identified Oregon head coach Chip Kelly as the main target of their search for a new head coach and the two sides are involved in active contract discussions, multiple sources close to Kelly told ESPN.

Kelly interviewed with the Buccaneers last week and the two sides are aiming to work out a deal within the next 48 hours, according to one source.

Pretty fast rise for Kelly. Considering how no one thinks you can run a spread offense in the NFL, this is an interesting choice.

  5. If anyone has ever seen this kid play or wrestle, you would be singing a different tune. He is VERY athletic for a kid his size and would be one that would work his a$$ off all the time. On top of that, he is very smart also.

I watched his state final in wrestling last year and he was very good. I watched him play football this year and wasn't overly impressed. In fact, I had to specifically watch for him because he really didn't make very many plays that night. However, I wouldn't mind him getting a shot to see what happens.

  6. So ...

Democrats trust sources that have a liberal bias.

Republicans trust sources that have a conservative bias.

This news brought to you by the democratically-affiliated polling service.

We now return you to your regularly-scheduled programming ...

  7. I've been very optimistic throughout this entire process, but the last few weeks getting zero commitments when I expected at least 2 or 3 has put a little doubt in my mind. I really hope that we can land 6 to 8 more recruits in the next week and a half, but I'm not sure if it will happen. I realize that even if nobody else were to commit, this would still be a quality class that shows a lot of promise, but the fact that we haven't picked up a high school CB or S yet concerns me.

Not sure what your definition of a "few weeks" is but we did get Afalava and Moss just over two weeks ago. Those are the only two in the last month, however.

Edit: Only two commits of the non-silent variety.

  8. Erick Strickland? I dunno. He is listed as one of the 50 best on this SI list: LINK But there are 40 athletes listed ahead of him.

If you're talking about athletic accomplishments in Nebraska, Strickland is way up there. Tough to top Gale Sayers overall, IMO.

Tough to not rank Sayers on any list of athletes..................but beyond high school, he really has nothing on his resume other than football........or did I miss something...........?

True, but I guess I don't penalize someone too much for being so outstanding at one thing such that they didn't have to do anything else.

He set the NE state long jump record that stood for about 45 years and even now is only 1/2 inch off the record. Plus, even though he only played football, he showed his versatility by not only being a two-time rushing champs but also being one of the best return men in the history of the league. Kind of a good at many things vs. great at one thing arguement.

  9. I think you may have the RB situation a little mixed up. It should be Rex/Ameer with the others on the rise. Ameer was definitely the top choice after Rex. For some reason people keep putting him farther down on the depth chart than he really was. I wonder if it has anything to do with him being the only 3 star out of the group.

Probably just remembering from early in the year. Abdullah was the KR from day one but it was Green and Heard who were in the backfield quite a bit more early in the season. Later in the year, you saw more of Abdullah back there. As of now, I'd say AA is #2 but he didn't start out that way.

  10. You referred to "government mandated sub-prime mortgages." Please back that up. Government mandated implies that the government ordered private individuals or private companies to offer sub-prime mortgages. The fact of the matter is that roughly 76% of sub-prime mortgages (not to mention the most toxic) originated in the private sector and were bundled and sold without risk to the originator. Enormous profits were made. Greed, not altruism, led to this collapse.

I thought that's what I was doing. Perhaps there's some slight disconnect between presidents mandating affordable-housing quotas and Fannie and Freddie accomplishing that by buying sub-prime loans but I think you can connect the dots. I know Fannie and Freddie aren't technically part of the government but both articles were showing how they are responding to what presidents and congress were ordering. If not that, I guess you'll have to explain to me the difference between the examples I listed in the two articles and you saying the government didn't mandate it.

  11. Venabels is headed to Clemson. Now the Tigers D will suck. But the guy is one of the best Texas recruiter's around.

Because their D was so good this year? :D

Maybe this is why M. Stoops was "on the market" so long - now he's DC all by himself.

  12. Rich Rod has been successful with those QBs, but Arizona at best is going to be 3rd place in the South Division. Rich Rod has a lot of ground to make up.

We were 3rd in the Legends division this year. Just saying.

We were thrid to two Top 15 team. Arizona was dead last in a division that had two teams with winning records. Not quite the same.

  13. The fallacy of Paul's comments is he's implying that they actually liked us before we "endlessly bombed" them and that they were innocent bystanders in all of this. Not saying that is justification for war but he's making up a straw man arguement.

    How did he imply that?

What he was saying was that they started hating us alot more after we started bombing them.

That makes sense, I would hate anyone who started bombing me.

He said "we endlessly bomb these countries then we wonder why they get upset with us."

Not "more upset". Not "are upset". To "get upset" means you were not upset before.

  14. The fallacy of Paul's comments is he's implying that they actually liked us before we "endlessly bombed" them and that they were innocent bystanders in all of this. Not saying that is justification for war but he's making up a straw man arguement.

Fair enough, however he still has a point. From the start w/ OBL there were other ways to deal w/ him that were all legit and legal...we choose the war one because we wanted blood/revenge after 9/11. Shoot first, ask questions later.

I'm curious what you think these would be?

We can get away w/ this because we are the #1 power. Most countries can't, so they have to go through the proper channels. For example...Cuba can't invade Florida and take out the terrorist that we are harboring...although if you think it was legit for us to take out OBL like we did...you should think Cuba has a right to do this. Bosch is the name of the terrorist we protect in FL. Google him if you're not familiar w/ him.

Another straw man arguement because it makes the assumption that we would be willfully harborning a known terrorist. If we were playing both sides of the terrorism game, it would be a totally different story on a lot of things. Are you making that case?
