  1. Keep in mind that one of KSU's 4 star commits was a certain QB that was supposedly on his way to Nebraska
  2. By far our best recruiting tool (besides Blake) is gameday in Lincoln. The real problem is actually getting prospects to Lincoln for gameday. This year (like every year) looks like we are targeting a number of "Uber" recruits from Texas and California. So, playing both USC and Texas (maybe twice) this fall is the smartest thing the Huskers could do. You know every major recruit will be either watching or at the USC and Texas games. We beat either USC or Texas, and suddenly Nebraska pops up as legit team in the minds of the local prospects. Heck for the Texas game, we should invite every "Uber" prospect in the state to come up and watch the Texas/Nebraska game. Actually, thinking about this, every year Nebraska should play USC, Texas, and either Miami, UF, or FSU since these are the three recruiting hotbeds in the country.
  3. There is something very special about this year's recruiting class that I believe will go down in the history books. When was the last year any recruiting analyst made the comment "The strength of this year's Husker class is its wide-receiver corps," or the "Husker's receiver recruits are the envy of the Big 12"? Acutally, when was the last time the huskers recruited more than one stand-out wide receiver in a year? or for that matter when was the last time we recruited even a single receiver with national prominence? It has been a few years. I believe this is a sign that the Husker program has turned the corner. Kudo's to the recruiting staff at Nebraska!
  4. Currently according to Rivals, Texas Tech now has 34 recruits in this years recruiting class. Any insights into Texas Tech's math, or lack there of?
  5. Unless you are an elite prospect at your position, the old saying is true. You Snooze -- You Lose
  6. Nameless, Whether recruiting information, or information about other Big 12 teams, your work is amazing. For us husker fans that are "out of the loop" 9 months of the year because of geographic location, your tireless effort to bring us the latest information is deeply appreciated. Nameless, Eric, and the other adminstators, thanks for making this one of the best college football websites in the country.
  7. Mr. Henry, That personal board ROCKS!! If your hands are half as good at catching footballs as designing cool computer stuff, the husker offense is going to be beyond insane next year. Its great to see the Huskers recruiting athletes that have both Brains and Braun! This is gonna be a fun next four years WELCOME BIG GUY!!
  8. Welcome Mr. Henry We are very, very excited to have you aboard!!!!!! Unlike in Texas, give you one year at Nebraska, and ANYWHERE in Nebraska you go everyone will know who you are and kids will be lining up to get you autograph. Welcome to the family!
  9. Sorry, I have not seen a husker roster recently. Who (in terms of starters and significant contributors) are we losing to graduation this spring? Also, last fall we were thin at O-Line and D-backs. What position(s), on paper, does the team look thin at going into next fall?
  10. Why is it that if Nebraska has any depth at a position, recruits pass on Nebraska, stating that they are concerned about early playing time. But it seems like schools such as USC, Texas, LSU, Michigan, or Miami have more depth than we ever have, yet the top recruits are tripping over themselves to get into these schools? I swear every year USC (or Miami) may have recruited the best RB (or WR) in the country the past 3 years in a row, and if I go to Rivals, this year's top RB is being quoted as saying "Gee I can't wait to go to USC, they have such an awesome program for RB's" Or another way to put this is, if USC or Miami or Texas has had a top 5 recruiting class every year the past 4 years, why would they have a top 5 again this year? From a depth perspective this makes no sense for the top recruits to look at these schools. Any thoughts are much appreciated.
  11. Looking at the weaknesses of the Huskers this year, our three biggest recruiting needs are: WR, OL, and DB's. For a while I was very concerned about recruitng for OL and WR's, but the coches pulled through. Kudos to the Husker recruiters for bringing in quality players at each of these positions. I assume we have around 4 scholarships left. Any insights into who the coaching staff is going to recruit hard to fill these last four slots?
  12. Lassie, Quick go for help!!! Timmie, err, I mean pud is in big trouble. He is up past his eyeballs in s**t this time!!!
  13. Way to go Zac 431 passing yards and NO INT's ! Taylor has given me hope going into Texas Tech. Last year was beyond painful. INT after INT after INT. How many total INT's did we throw last year? Zac just keep up the good work with Zero INT's next week and we will be fine
  14. Back in HS, our team sucked my senior year. We got a new coach andI felt strongly our coach had an offense set up, and looked our players, not talent, to fill the positions. The coach insisted we run the wishboad--although we had several good recievers, we had no solid running back. It was a long ugly season my senior year. I felt a better coach would have looked at the talents of our team and built an offense around our talent. I get the same feeling about this year's Nebraska offense. Instead of trying to cookie cutter players into a pre-planned offense, Coach C needs to assess the strengths of our team -- a solid running back, a quarterback who can complete short passes (2 step drop or less)-- and build an offense around the avaliable talent. IMO its better to start over sooner than later.
  15. As I read through the posts, seems like fans are pushing for two extremes. Some feel BC has destroyed the Huskers, others feel he is the savior of the program. I think the real problem, aside from OOL (Oblivious Offensive Linemen), is the complexity of the WCO. A 500 lb playbook and 5 audibles at the line of scrimage is difficult enough for any one person to figure out, let alone trying to have 11 athletes figure it out simultaneously. Is there any way to run a simplified WCO? I remember under Osborne, the offense used to have two different plays each time the team broke from the huddle. As the quarterback got under center, he would assess the defense, if the defense was lined up against the first play, he would audible, and the offense would then switch to the second play. Is something like this possible with the WCO? I mean honestly, with athletes, like people in general, have a wide range of IQ's. And realistically, it is improbable that there will ever be 11 atheletes on the field, at the college level, that all simutaneously understand each play of WCO. Finally, would a simplified WCO work? The WCO is designed with an infinite number of short and long passes, and running plays to exploit the defense no matter how they line up. Could a reasonable number of pass and run plays work to effectively exploit the defense? Rigth now, our WCO is so complex we aren't exploiting anything, as a matter of fact, we just seem to be running the same plays over and over again.
  16. Last year, I distinctly remember serveral sports writers talk about what a weak conference the Big 12 is, and how the Big 12 was overrated. Even at the beginning of this year I read how the entire Big 12 Norh confernce is weak. Yesterday the Big 10 started the day with 3 teams in the media's top 10. All 3 teams lost, Mich to ND, Iowa to Iowa State, and Ohio State to Texas. Well it will be interesting to see if the media uses the same language with its poster-boy conferernce; Will the media talk about how the Big 10 is overrated and clearly a weak conference? I doubt it, but I could be wrong I bet the media will put the "This year even more than ever, we see more and more parity all the time," spin on yesterday's big Ten meldown. Hello! think about this big media--Yesterday the second week of the season, the entire big Ten conference was effectly eliminated from National championship contention. Anyway, I will be interested to see how the media handles yesterday's big Ten meltdown.
  17. Long time reader, Figured it was time to start contributing. BTW, Eric, Nameless and Blackshirt, your insights have been deeply appreciated by many of us not close to sources. Here is a hypothetical question I have been wondering for some time. Being I hate Colorado and Miami; I can't stomach either team's ethics. Actually, thinking about Colorado's dirty recruiting tricks lead me to this question: Could an average Joe wreck a program like Miami? What would happen if a person went to the Rivals top 100, and became a self-proclaimed Miami fan, and mailed each of the Rivals top 100 a crisp $20 bill a letter stating that as a Miami fan, I really want you to come to Miami, and if you commit, more "presents" will be on their way. He may also send $20 and a letter to the graduating childern of any NCAA executives. What would happen? I believe this would definitely be a recrtuiting violation according to the NCAA, but I dont know of any state or Federal laws prohibiting a person from giving a gift to another person. Love to hear everyones thoughts, also has this ever occured? What would prevent this from occuring, since in reality, today's college football is a multimillion dollar business?
