    No.

By going for it he gave himself two chances to win: either the TD there or one on the next drive. Kicking the FG leaves only one opportunity to win the game, and that's only if you can get the ball back with only 3 minutes left and 2 TO's.

Kicking the FG would have been the correct call.

reasoning: if you fail on the 4th down. Purdue gets the ball on the 20ish yd line and you have no points. And if you do get the 1st down you begin using the rest of the clock making that most likely your final possession.

OR you kick it end up down 2 where another FG can win it for you. Purdue would most likely end up with the same field position as if you failed on 4th.

Riley chose the outcome that made it MORE difficult to win!

nebraska had consistently shown they could drive within FG range but NOT put the ball in the EZ.

At this early stage in his career, it's hard to argue that he isn't.  Looking at their remaining schedule, they should be in every game they have left.  Purdue fans should be excited about the direction of their program.

I agree that Purdue fans should be excited. But let's not get carried away about where their program sits in the pecking order of coaching jobs.  Watched for the past 6 months as they finally got a respectable athletic complex and finally got lights on the stadium.  Their new facilities put them middle of the big 10 now.

with regard to on the field product, it is night and day compared to previous years. The team actually looks like they are competent.

Regarding being able to run on purdue, I think their D front 7 is their strength. I don't have stats on that. Just based on watching. And the d-line coach Johnson lives next door to me ;). They just don't have depth right now. I don't see Neb being able to just line up and push them around IMO.

If played on a neutral field this game would be a push or Nebraska would have a slight edge.  Purdue gets a field goal for being at home and another for the night game atmosphere.  Nothing to react to imo...  we both stink this year.

This is only Purdue's second home night game ever. they just put the lights up this year. I drive by the field everyday.

all my neighbors (Purdue fans) think Brohm is the second coming of Tiller. One even told me that Purdue is now a better job than Neb. I just laughed. West Lafayette <<<<< Lincoln

I don't think it will move all that much.  This is not going to be a heavy action type of game, It is two crappy teams.

I don't think it will move much either. Vegas wants money in Neb

  5. What is the rule for playing the sound system in the stadium between plays? I was at the game and the sound system was blasting up until Nebraska snapped the ball for probably 3/4 of the snaps. They could not get crowd noise so they artificially made it. It was blaringly obvious

Sorry if already mentioned but I just woke up and did not care to look on here after that game.

  6. Hope they beat us. That is coming from someone who has mostly Hawkeye fans as friends and family and has a trophy that goes to the winner. Tired of this regimes inability to win a big game and consistent blow outs when the spotlight gets big. They can handle the 9-4 season obviously but can't handle anything more. It's tired and old and monotonous.
