  1. As for Nebraska, I don't watch much Nebraska football as some of the games aren't shown here in Michigan, but from what I've seen, I think Nebraska needs to get bigger at the LOS if they want to win the Big Ten. The team is talented and BP is a good coach. I think the issue is, the team is too small upfront. I believe that's why Nebraska has suffered blowout loses to teams like Michigan (2011), Wisconsin (2011 and the 2012 BIg Ten Championship Game), and Ohio State (2012). In each of those games, Nebraska was beaten up at the LOS. If the team gets bigger and more phyiscal upfront, they will be good to go. Just my humble opinion, thats all.
  2. Though Brady Hoke may not be the best coach in Michigan football history (Feilding Yost, Fritz Crisler, and Bo Schembechler all probably deserve that honor), I think its asinie to say that he's not a good coach, given the mess the man inherited back in January, 2011. Not only was Michigan coming off a 7-6 season, which included blowout losses to Michigan State, Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl, they were coming off three of the worst seasons in Michigan Football history. Recruiting wasn't up to Michigan standards and the team was unprepaired in most games, especially in conference play. Not to mention, there was division within the program. Michigan football was a total mess. In one year, Hoke took a team that went 7-6 in 2010, and manage to have a 11-2 season, including a major bowl win. Second year, manage to go 8-5 in one of the toughest schedules in the nation, where they were competitive in every game except one (Alabama, which is no shame, since that team won another National title). Though the team hasn't won a Big Ten title yet, the fact that this team went 19-7 in two seasons, given the roster problems this team had (lack of depth and talent at critical positions), I say Hoke has done a fantastic job with this program. To say Michigan isn't on the rise is inaccurate. Recruiting has picked up considerably over the past couple years, and the team is definately a program on the rise. They should be better in 2013. Just saying. I say the list ESPN has is accurate. Not a fan of Urban Meyer or Ohio State, but one has to give credit where credit is due.
  3. Hey everyone, I am considering making a trip over to Nebraska next season when Michigan travels to Lincoln to play the Cornhuskers. It would be my very first time going to a college football game on the road. Not to mention, it would be my very first time going to Lincoln. I've heard nothing but great things about the college football experience in Nebraska. I heard the fans there are awesome. Anyhow, does anyone know of what good hotels to book in the Lincoln/Omaha area? What are the best places to eat? What are the best places to hang out on a football night? Is Lincoln quiet like Ann Arbor is, or is it more lively on a college night? As for Memorial Stadium, is there any difference between the fan experience Memorial Stadium and the fan experience at Michigan Stadium? I'm just wondering, thats all.
  4. I don't think so. Not only did the 1997 Michigan team have the best defense that year, they also played one of the toughest schedules in the country and won every game. They blew out then #8 Colorado. They beat Notre Dame, blew out then #15 Michigan State, beat #15 Iowa, destroyed #2 Penn State in Happy Valley of all places, beat #25 Wisconsin at Camp Randell, beat #4 Ohio State at home, and beat #7 Washington State in the Rose Bowl. That Michgan team a force to be reckon with. Nebraska was a great team that year too, but they wouldn't have rolled over that Michgan team at all, not with that defense. My guess is, it would've been another slug fest between the two and would've been a very close game. Nebraska that year didn't face a defense as good as Michgan, so they wouldn't have put up the massive numbers agains them on offense, like they've done everyone else. Let's not forget that Michigan's defense was equipt to slow down option teams. Case in point, Colorado. Michigan beat them 27-3 that year. I say that it would've been a 20-16 game if Michigan and Nebraska would've played that year.
  5. I agree that us Michigan fans were spoiled. We became so used to winning, that yes, we did become arrogant. I think the whole Rich Rod fiasco humbled the entire Michigan fanbase. No longer will we disrespect our opponents. No longer will we take anything for granted. I've learned to appreciate my football team a bit more, and to appreciate good compeition more. Bad times often humbles us and its safe to say the entire Michigan fanbase has been humbled. Now that the football program is back on the mend and becoming relevant again, I will never take anything for granted ever again. I am just happy to have a good football team again. Not to mention, I am excited about the future of the Michigan football program, and the future of college football as a whole. I truly believe the Big Ten is going to become the best conference in the next two or three years. I think the addition of Nebraska to the conference, as well as Michigan becoming a national power again, along with Ohio State becoming a national power again, and Michigan State, Wisconsin, and even Iowa becoming a force will play a factor in all of that.
  6. If his contract is up soon, he'll come. Nebraska is his school. Its been 13 years, but he's still passionate for Nebraska football. Having him back at Nebraska would be great for Nebraska, and great for the Big Ten as Nebraska's offense would be a force again. It would force the rest of the Big Ten to adjust to what Nebraska is doing.
  7. I say, yes. First of all, Frost is a proven winner. He helped Nebraska win a share of the National Championship in 1997. Second, the guy is a great competitor. That would definately rub off on the football team. Third, Frost, IMO, is definately one of the reasons why Oregon's offensive is so explosive. Have you seen Oregon's offense? Man, they can score on will against anyone. That offense pratically made Stanford look like high schoolers and they've always give USC a hard time, even when USC was good. I think that Bo needs to let go of his pride, and let Frost be the Offensive Coordinator. I bet you that Nebraska will definately be a force to wrecken with in the Big Ten if that happens, and they will definately be a nightmare for even the likes of Michigan and Ohio State. Not to mention, I think that Scott Frost being around would definately make Taylor Martinez into a better QB. I can see Frost taking Martinez under his wing, and molding him into a great Nebraska QB. Martinez has the tools to do it. He just needs the right guidance, IMO. Frost would be the guy to help get him there. I say go for it. Not only would it make Nebraska better, it would force other Big Ten schools, even powers like Ohio State and Michgan, to get better.
  8. I love Suh. He's a great player. Probably the most dynamic Lions player since Barry Sanders. Living in the Detroit area and having to deal with a losing team for over 10 years, its great to have someone who can dominate the line of scrimmage. However, what Suh did on Thanksgiving was stupid. As much as I love the guy, he really crossed the line, there. He needs to learn to control his emotions, and stay focus on the game. If he doesn't, than he's going to continue to get suspended.
  9. First of all, I just want to welcome Nebraska to the Big Ten. As a Univ of Michigan alum and a huge fan of college football, it is an honor to have such an awesome football program in the Big Ten conference. It is an greater honor to have a school with such wonderful, classy fans as yourselves, in the same division as Michigan. Though I'm a huge Michigan fan, I've always had great respect for the Nebraska program and for Tom Osborne. You guys represent what college football should be all about: toughness, grace, dignity, and integrity. Nebraska is truly the mecca for college football. Anyhow, do you guys think that Michgan at Nebraska will be an ABC/ESPN night game in 2012? I say, yes, most definately. First, it will be Michigan's first time traveling to Lincoln for a football game. Second, the game is in October and the Nebraska/Michigan game was a highly rated game on ESPN this year. I know the game was lopsited, but it did gather interest. I think Tom Osborne is pushing for Michigan/Nebraska to be a night game, for those exact reasons. Regardless of what happened in this year's game, I still say that Nebraska is going to be our biggest rival in the Legends division, besides Michigan State. Nebraska has history, tradition, and name brand on its side, along with Michigan and Ohio State. I am looking forward to watching some great games between Michigan and Nebraska. I say the game in 2012 is going to be an instant classic. I don't see Michigan blowing out Nebraska again, definately not in Lincoln. Nebraska will definately be ready for my Michigan Wolverines in 2012, and its and its going to be a close, hard fought game. Michigan is improving and I think Nebraska will be a better team in 2012. So I'm ready for a great game. God bless you all, my friends! Thank you for being such wonderful fans. p.s. Michigan and Nebraska both disserved to win the 1997 National Championship. Both were undefeated, and both had great times. They truly were the two best teams in college football that year. Both disserved it, IMO.
