how many players did nu have on the team or on scholarship in the 80s and such....was it more than OU and UT? i am referring to the comment about the "osborne" rule

it is hard to compare todays team with the earlier teams but one thing i did learn reading a book by a ex-sooner that got busted for selling coke was that back then there werent limitations of scholarships so teams like OU, NU etc would give out all kinds of scholarships just so other teams wouldnt get those kids..today that cant happen so parody it much greater because of it so is harder to beat those teams you should beat all the time..... but great info bout the earlier years...how well was the option received in the first few years...i assume it didnt take off right away

i mentioned this in another thread but wanted to put it out where everyone could see it. I was in grade school in the mid-80's and such and i remember shutting off the TV during bowl games cuz i couldnt stand watching us lose....What was the talk of that time or even better in the late 70's? Was TO the devil that BC seems to be? i have heard stories of how McBride needed to be ran out of town and such...what was the talk...were the records of the team about the same and the loses about the same? in other words are we in the early stages of a cycle that will eventually turn around...i think if i remember right, TO was a passing coach and switch to the option so he could beat OU...maybe we are just in an experimental stage..i think our offense is much better, we just dont have the horses to keep up with the roid filled WR's of today yet....what you guys think....lets here some history...

look i am frustrated too but BC still needs time to keep us going...i think we have shown improvement overall....the defense is questionable i agree and maybe a guy from wisconson is not the guy to go with...but my main comment is for some of you older fellas....i was in grade school in the 80's and i remember shutting off the TV during bowl games cuz i couldnt stand watching the huskers blow a game like they seemed to....am i right? if so what was the conversations then around the state...was it time to get rid of TO? Did we have many 9-3 or whatever years? i think we just need to be patient and see what happens in the next few years....i am concerned though that we dont seem to have a young QB to take over after next year, assuming Keller does work out if not we are in big trouble.... In the weeks leading up to my trip, I had thought nothing of flaunting my Colorado Buffaloes gear in enemy territory, but my pre-game confidence quickly gave way to the realization that I was outnumbered - 85,181 to one. Me. Alone. And yes, even a little bit scared. Of course, I would soon discover I had nothing to fear, and that upset me even more. It was as if the Big Red Nation wanted to prove it was better than me - us. They did, and it wasn't hard. As I walked along the chain-link fence that separated the University of Nebraska players from the fans who idolize them, I felt a little like one of those poor Louisiana Tech players on the visitor's sideline - outnumbered, undersized and pretty sure that at some point of the day I would be humiliated. (They were, by a score of 49-10. And so was I, but CU's opening-game loss to Division I-AA Montana State wasn't announced until most of the crowd had left the stadium.) As a proud CU alum, there was nothing about the University of Nebraska that I could even pretend to like. The Cornhuskers are the Giants to my Dodgers, the Raiders to my Broncos. But that was before my visit to Lincoln, Neb. Don't get me wrong - I never have been nor ever will be a Cornhuskers fan. But I just can't conjure up the hate like I used to, and it's because the University of Nebraska is what my beloved CU will never be: a college football paradise. It was instantly apparent how much better of a college football atmosphere thrives in Lincoln than ever will in Boulder. It's like comparing apples to oranges, or Champs Sport Bowls to Orange Bowls. The student section was standing-room only 45 minutes before kick off; CU students often don't file in to Folsom Field until the second quarter, if they bother to show up at all. Nebraska's marching band actually takes the time to learn each opponent's fight song - and plays it before the game as a sign of respect. At Folsom Field, visiting players (and their fans) are greeted with hurled oranges, marshmallows and language that would make Andrew Dice Clay blush. Pouring rain had zero - ZERO - effect on attendance at Memorial Stadium last weekend. In Boulder, a light drizzle provides many "fans" with an excuse to not go to the game. Cornhuskers fans know every team cheer, chant and song. The best-known cheer at CU is an eight-word diddy that includes two f-bombs. I had always joked that Nebraskans so love their football team because their geographic misfortune leaves them little else to do. And that still may be the case, but I have a new respect for the greatest fans in college football. And in case they should forget, there are signs over every stadium entrance ("Through these gates pass the Greatest Fans in college football) reminding them of their place in our football-crazed country. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. And if I'm lucky, I'll get to see it again.

i see what you are saying....just in the video we are up and then the next thing you know they are kicking for the win and you dont know why...just a hole in the story i guess....maybe just show the anouncers saying Texas has the ball or something....just an idea..but still awesome work...something i could never do...also i love the way you set it up because in my school i teach at the filters stop u-tube....

just curious why you didnt put the fumble at the end in it? it was a huge factor...but great job...i love your vids....i make my students what them every week...they hate it but that makes it even better.....

is anyone gonna make some wallpapers for the OSU game? i love putting them on my computer desktop and then when i turn on my lcd projector my kansas students have to look at them.....it drives them crazy....it is great fun for me.....

i went to the KU vs OSU game that KU lost. KU jumped on them early as usual for KU and blew it in the 2nd half. I noticed that OSU's QB seemed to make mistakes when rushed. KU put on a good rush and got 2 or three interceptions. In the second half KU sat back and didnt rush so OSU's QB had time and was able to find his wide outs...if you give him time he can make plays..but overall i was not impressed at all...in the first half i thought they were really bad but in the second they played better but that was also against the MIGHTY BUFFET EATER and he seems to find ways to lose games...we should win this game with little problems unless we go into a base defense or something instead of being aggressive....

Nunn cost us this game.....he gave up 50 yards in field position with his mistakes on the punt returns...then he fumbled the most important catch of the season...he always seems to try and make the ESPN highlights instead of just getting the job done...just like last year in Missouri....if he goes down we have the ball on the 1 yd line and we score and their crowd leaves...but he tried too much as usual....how many fumbles does this kid have anyway?? Also, why is it coaches cant seem to grasp the concept of clock management..dont they plan for all events of the game. After Texas gets with in 30 yds, you have to assume they make the field goal..if he calls timeouts right then we have over 40 seconds to move the ball down to try a long field goal kick with the wind behind us...you dont run some stupid throw back return thing that wastes another 7-10 seconds by the way..... If you take away Terrence Nunn from this game we had it won....this guy needs to go, this isnt the first game he has hurt us in!!! oh ya...colt mccoy sucks.....take away those 6'5 reciever and he is nothing...

I think that in the long run that this running back by commitee thing will help these kids move on to the next level. It will show their ability to be a team player first of all, something that is lacking often in the NFL. but i think if a coach looks at these kids, he would have to realize that they have taken atleast 1/2 the beating that a normal back takes in college so they will be much fresher as they move on to the next level. I hope that all of our RB's think about this and keep going with the plan our coaches have come-up with. GO BIG RED!

does anyone know of a site where you can find out how many times each school has had sanctions put on them by the ncaa....i ran into it once last year and i cant find it...if my memory is correct, this latest sanction for KU puts them in the top tier of schools that have been caught cheating...this does account for all sports of course but i am curious how many times this is now.....

does anyone know whether or not KSUcks has cheep seat like missouri or an area you can watch the game from a hill like KU? i am not sure i will have the extra money to get into the game but might drive over there just to see it from a distance.....i know in missouri you can sit on the rocks for $3 any game i wondered if there was like a hay bail or something at KSUcks.....anyone know...

i hear what you are saying eric and i am not taking them lightly agian but i can not respect a team that has won once in 36yrs....36!!! i wasnt even born when they won before last year....i cant respect a team and fan that at every opportunity needs to mention that win like it was the national championship....I think the players are focused on this game for the same reason we are..REVENGE...now after the game i dont preach to run onto the field and tear down the goal posts or to spit in anyones face....I say smile and shake hands and realize all is right with the world once again because ORDER HAS BEEN RESTORED!!!!

Living in KC all i have heard for a year is about the KU game..my students bring it up...my friends bring it up..the garbage man brings it up....i havent wanted to destroy a team in a very long time. ...I think the teams performance against Troy shows we are back this year.. ..KU will be pumped about their "big" win this saturday, it will make it all that much sweeter to destroy them...Do you all think BC will call off the dogs in the 4th qt when we are up by 45 or let them eat??? I say let them eat!!!! RESTORE THE ORDER IT IS TIME TO REMIND THE BIG 12 NORTH THAT THERE IS NO PARITY IN THIS LEAGUE!!!!!! edit: It's parity, not parody.
