Who was it in here that made the Bugeater Throwback concept art? We need to get that ball rolling again.

I had put this one together earlier in the thread

NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......mainly because it's nike.

And I am not going to lie, I think it just unappealing. I understand its a concept but I'd vote no.

Is the whole team watching the Notebook immediately before the game to prevent lack of emotion?

Yes, either that or Marley & Me. That movie brought tears into my eyes.

My wife made me watch The Fault in our Stars.... it was a Marley and Me type deal.

Avoiding sacks are credit to the QB though and Tommy is much better at that. Not saying that Tommy turns potential sacks into home runs like Taylor(BIG championship game) but he avoids them as good as anyone, whether it is throwing the ball away or scrambling. My point was not to diss Taylor as I enjoyed watching him as much as anyone, I am just saying that as a game manager and doing what needs to be done, Tommy has got the edge. Just my opinion

I think it's funny, that I say we shouldn't argue over the quarterbacks because it only divides and it turns into an argument about the quarterbacks. You value one thing I value another it doesn't really matter we want Nebraska to win I don't get why you keep arguing.

I was trying to create a divide, I was using stats to compare the two through their sophomore years and everything I said was disputed. I was just bringing up facts/stats to support what myself and others were saying. GBR

And you're picking stats that best make the argument you want to make and ignore those that don't.

For example you chose Sophomore year to compare, when TA is only 5 games in against weak competition. It's disingenuous. I'm sure since he's the better QB your argument will stand with freshman year stats... right?

    TMart Rushing 2010:

    162 ATT

    965 Yards

    6.0 Avg

    TA Rushing 2013:

    67 ATT

    202 Yards

    3.0 Avg

Well, I know what QB I'd rather have. But since Martinez was a horrible passer, surely passing stats will still favor TA.

    TMart Passing 2010:

    196 ATT

    116 CMP

    59.2 Completion %

    1631 YDS

    8.3 AVG

    10 TD

    138.8 Rating

    TA Passing 2013:

    131 ATT

    68 CMP

    51.9 Completion %

    966 YDS

    7.4 AVG

    9 TD

    124.3 Rating

    Oh.... never mind.

Ok.... You just did the exact thing you said I did. I pulled up Taylor's entire soph season and compared it to Tommy thus far in this season. The only area where Taylor was better was completion percentage. I brought up this years stats because this is the season we are in, not last season. And what was all the stiff competition during the start of 2011, UT-Chatanooga, Wyoming, Fresno and Washington?

Better throwing mechanics, yes, at times be does, but he isn't the better passer.

If you wish to continue believing this, I highly recommend you don't review Taylor's passing stats through the first 5 games of his sophomore season.
Why do i need to go back that far, he was horrible for his whole career,,right?
I agree with the Dude, Taylor's sophomore season was what 56% 13 TD's and 8 INT's with roughly 2000 yards and a 126.5 rating? Tommy is already at 10 TD's only 3 picks, 1052 yards and a QB rating of 154.2..... Only through five games. One may argue Taylor was a better runner, but his sophomore season he had 4.6 yards a carry, Tommy is averaging 8.4 yac. Not dissing Taylor but stats are stats

Taylor and Tommy don't play in a vacuum however, and the offensive line we currently have is far and away better than anything Martinez played with.

Do you remember that those rushing stats include sacks, which you can't really blame on the quarterback.

For about 3.3 years, a guy that had ball security issues was horrible, but a guy that has similar ball security issues has "avoided turnovers,"

Turnovers were absolutely a key nemesis for us during the Martinez years. Now if you're saying Armstrong had "similar" issues last season, I'd agree. But this is 2014.
Yet Tommy still stares down receivers and hits defenders right in the hands.

I'm not making this up. It happens, too much in fact.

I know I'm not the only one who's seen it.

Staring down receivers is not on the stat sheet. Turnovers are. Is this clear?

And atleast Tommy has mechanics. Last year was what 9 td's 8ints? This year he has already shown a vast improvement from last, he has 10 td's, throwing at a better completion percentage, currently at +21 in the Raw QBR and in each game has had a completion of 40+ yards. He also has only taken two sacks this year and I don't believe he has lost a fumble.

I think you go deep on the first play, off of play-action...set a tone, see if you get lucky and let them know you are coming for them. Then you pound the rock

I was thinking the same. Deep outside passes are actually relatively safe, provided they aren't underthrown. Not sure how many deep outside passes we've thrown this year. Beck seems to favor the inside seams. Even if it falls incomplete, it will still make MSU second guess committing 7 to the box in 3 WR sets.

Le' Dude and teach I couldn't agree with this more, especially after seeing that gorgeous ball Tommy threw deep to Bell, it could easliy result in six and have Michigan St reeling early, forcing them to respond

  10.

Is Michigan States defense better or even as good as last year? I don't think so. No doubt they are a good defense, well coached, but if iirc, and I think I do, we gashed them pretty good last year in the run game including a 40 or 50+ yarder to the house by Imani Cross in the 3rd qtr. No reason we shouldn't be able to do the same this year with what arguably is an even more potent rushing attack. (Don't know how to attach previous quotes yet and don't care to take the time at the moment, but this is in reply to those who believe the 6,7,8 yard gashes will not be there.) We take care of the ball and the defense steps up we could roll. Expect it to be one hell of a game though.

IMO the MSU defense is worse, and our offense is better. Injuries on our defense worry me.

If with the injuries that we've had I feel just from watching the games so far this year that our defense has improved, our d-line play definitely has. The attitude and possibly most hated word around "swagger" on both sides of the ball has improved greatly from last year to now. Tommy is getting better every game with his reads and his throws. That deep ball he threw to Bell was one of the best looking balls I've seen for a long time...... Saturday is going to be something we've been waiting to see for a long time

  11. Contrary to popular belief, I actually like and respect polo, sd and Carlfense. I'd like to crush brews with y'all.

But there is some suckage in the original post.

This game raises some serious concerns, but I think that we can't throw in the towels just yet.

I agree with ya here, little early to bring out the pitchforks again. I think we were looking forward to games, bit over confident in the previous week's performance and some senseless play calling. But the fact of the matter is we still won the game and yeah maybe we slide out of the top 25, but what does that matter if we are still winning games? I think we should just let it play out, I think this team still has the ability to be special and maybe a close call to McNeese is what we needed to stay focused on the task at hand.

  12. To the ones saying he got off easy, thats not really the case. Lots of people never spend more then a night in jail. Even though this is a felony, even then guys rarely see jail time on a first time felony charge, unless of course it is something extreme, which this is not. I am however happy that he does have to do some jail time, it is the best tool to keep people out of jail/coming back to jail, send them there for a bit.

  13. The thing that worries me a bit about this whole audio situation is that I haven't read a statement for Eichhorst nor Pearlman in support of Pelini after these events just yet. Sipple tweeted something trying to get some answers from Pearlman and it was followed up by this:

    Steven M. Sipple@HuskerExtraSip15h

Just called Harvey Perlman for possible update regarding Pelini. "I know why you're calling, but I'm not saying anything."

Do they owe the fans and media a statement in support of Bo!? I don't know how to really answer that I guess...what's damning is that these two individuals have really been on the down low during this matter. I just started to get worried about Bo's job last night in light of all the stupid ass rumors floating around...I hope Bo keeps his job and rights the ship....have to wait and see.

If Perlman or the Ad hasn't come out in support of Bo yet they are more than likely getting a list of candidates ready. The fact that both of them haven't come out in support of Bo to quash this situation shows you how they probably don't Bo support anymore.

^ This, getting a candidates list ready, preparing a statement and speaking with boosters

  14. Solich is 300 years old and as for Bohl making the jump from a small school to a school like Nebraska is a bit of a stretch, I understand that he was a D-Coordinator at this level but if it comes to getting a new coach don't you think we should get as close to an upgrade as possible. Lets see if our coach even goes anywhere before we throw names out.
