He wouldn't be my first choice, but how about will muschamp? He is a great defensive mind and had some success at south carolina before getting canned. If paired with great offensive coordinators could be interesting.

Muschamp 5 million a year contract

Offensive coordinator: Monken or chadwell at 3 million a year. Or someone like Tom herman or Dan mullen

Hate to be a d!(k, but no upward trending head coach (Chadwell) would take an OC position, no matter the place or the salary. Neither would Monken, just doesn’t make any sense.

It’s going to be a coach who has the same agent as Lincoln Riley who is also connected to the search firm Alberts is using

I mean maybe, my guess would be the agency rather than the specific agent… Trace Armstrong is Riley’s agent but works for CAA. CAA reps huge names, mainly through Jimmy Sexton

  3. No reporters know anything, they’ll all be surprised like they were with Riley…. I hate their “I’m hearing” bullshart, they are all clueless my odds are as follows:

    +250 Jamey Chadwell

    +275 Lane Kiffin

    +350 Luke Fickell
+ 420 Matthew “Leaves Us Once Franklin Bounces Out of State College” Rhule

    +500 Mickey
    +575 Matt Campbell’s Tomato Soup

    + “Seven Fitty” Monken

+ 1/2 a Ton Lance “I’d rather have Wisconsin” Leipold

    + Your Mom’s Weight(eleven fitty) ~ Any Stoops

+ 1250 Urban “Grinding on Your Daughters” Meyer

had to edit to fix Wiscy Lance’s odds

    My updated Top 5 List:

1 Lane Kiffin- The best realistic hire we could get. He will run the ball and has a great offensive scheme. He has matured a lot and can coach.

2 Dave Aranda- A realistic option that has made an impact everywhere he has been. Checks all the boxes Trev talks about. The question will be can we outbid BU?

3 Matt Rhule- He has moved up my list lately. I can get behind this hire. NFL success does not equate to CFB success and vice versa. He will bring elite assistants here.

4 Kalen DeBoer- He has only been in Washington for a year. He has Midwest ties and would come here. His teams play hard and smart.

5 Lance Leipold- If you can get Kansas to bowl eligibility, you can coach. Most likely wants to stay but we can pay more for him.

Sleeper- Bill O'Brien- Looking less likely, but wonder how he would do after Saban's school of coaches who don't coach good. Two good examples came from it LK and Sark.

Second Sleeper- Gus Malzahn- Likely staying in the South. I really like his offense and philosophy. He could get us back to relevancy.

Best list I’ve seen and agree completely

All I found on my wife's facebook was a bunch of messages from random dudes. No husker news.

Me too, I made sure to respond very kindly, don’t ever want to ruin a friendship, especially when they are as close as I saw in the messages

    80% chance that it is.

Fell good about 80%, stoked we are getting Aranda at only a million dollar a season raise… especially considering Texas doesn’t have state income tax and we do so he’d make less money here.. hell of deal

just a FYI I’m making fun of the original poster dude not you.

I guess it's still true if Mickey's agent called the front desk at the search firm and sent a screenshot to Sean Callahan

But yeah I tend to agree it's posturing and not legitimate, although he'd be a great fit there.

He would be an incredible fit there, could you imagine the recruits he’d pull?

I think Bielema will be this year's Mel Tucker.

Bret Bielema has a history of success, it just didn’t transfer to Arkansas, not sure why but he seemed to stray from his type of teams (hard-nosed, dominate OL/DL). I would take Bielema over Tucker every day of the week.

Yeah I don’t see it, Aranda and his wife hate cold weather

Aranda is leaving Baylor for Nebraska for a roughly $1 million per season raise?

Baylor could match that and keep him in Texas.

He got an extension/reworked deal after last year, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s already at 7,000,000 per year, since it’s a private school they don’t have to report… Now Fickell at 7.5 makes sense, 2.5 million per year raise.

Is Lane your top choice? It seems that you like him quite a bit.

He is… he’s an offensive whiz, goes after top tiered assistants, could handle our media and feel like he’s not getting the backing he needs at Ole Miss… look at his comments about fan support and his comment about getting outbid by A&M feels like a jab at Ole Miss for not ponying up the cash

    Mark Stoops

    Dave Aranda

    *Mickey Joseph

I’m pretty confident it’ll be one of the three. It’d take a very strong finish for Mickey. I’d love having Jeff Grimes and Eric Mateos here. Stoops is more a of a legitimate possibility than believed.

I honestly think it’s Lane Kiffin, he doesn’t seem happy about support/SEC in general, familiar with Mickey and Nebraska. I agree Aranda is just as likely..

If he leaves now, there's no good coaches available.  Not sure if they'd go a 1 year interim coach or get a coach that's in a booth somewhere.

I’d be terrified if it was Fickell… I know an OSU guy to Michigan isn’t likely, but OSU didn’t give him the shot in 2019.

Plus, there were rumors of a new contract for Fickell but I haven’t seen anything and his buyout is like 3/3.5, which is completely doable.

  13. Honestly with Stepp’s injury history and the issues Yant has had with his weight, it makes sense to me. Take a tank of a kid with no notable injury history who has been through two years of college conditioning/routine and see what happens.

If Yant comes in again weighing 260-270, this is our goal line/short yardage guy.

Not to quote myself... But this guy would be the homerun hire we're looking for. I would be overjoyed to have him- Probably too good to be true. Our only chance of landing him would be that he doesn't want to leave the midwest for USC. But man, one can dream.

    https://soonersports.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/bill-bedenbaugh/580

    • Has established himself as one of the country’s top developers of offensive line talent since joining Oklahoma's staff in 2013.

    • Was named one of Rivals.com’s top 25 recruiters of 2017, ’18 and ’19, and was a finalist in 2017 and a semifinalist in 2018 for the Broyles Award, given to the nation’s top assistant coach.

    • With him on staff over the last eight years, OU ranks first nationally in total offense (521.1 ypg) and pass efficency rating (171.3), second in scoring offense (42.0 ppg) and passing yards per attempt (9.7), third in yards per rush (5.6) and fifth in completion percentage (66.0) and yards per completion (14.6). The Sooners are the only program in the country to rank in the top 10 in rushing offense (10th at 229.8 ypg) and passing offense (ninth at 291.3 ypg) during that span.

Everything I see is he went with Riley to USC…

A name I haven’t seen mentioned is Kyle Flood, OC at Texas. Former head coach at Rutgers.

Would definitely be the first time in recorded history that fans have talked bad about a coach that was leaving...

Didn’t seem to be this same distaste when they were cranking out talent like Jefferson, Chase…
