Given how bad our D-line was last year, I agree.  Are any versatile enough where they could move to a different position as well?

Rogers could be a multi position guy, TE, OLB and DE all seem plausible. I think Tannor could be either a DE or OLB. Carson is the only one I see who wouldn’t get a look at a different position.

Well....you have an NFL D lineman and a guy who almost made it to the Olympics......from the same small school.

Yeah, if I had only known at the time. Lol they both hit their distances doing a slide step and then after they qualified for state attempted throws doing the spin, they easily threw past what they did with the slide step but both scratched.

I also remember watching film on them when we were in the playoffs for football. They qualified even after going 3-5, if I remember right Chadron was like #1 or #2 in the state and needed every  bit of luck they could to beat them. We were all pretty happy Cozad didn’t advance lol

Can someone enlighten me how these salaries are decided? In particular, what makes Austin or Dewitt’s pay much higher than a Held or Fisher? Are their positions typically higher paid? Fisher is making less than Donte made, so no?

    Just curious. Thanks.

Well Frost is given a pool (I think his was 5 million) works with the coaches/AD. With the differences in pay imagine is a combo of things, experience I imagine is a big factor in that. Dewitt also holds two hats coaching both outside lb’s and is the special teams coordinator (he’s also a certified genius) plus 16 years + coaching experience, Austin has 7+ years (NFL and Division 1)... Ryan Held was probably happy with the pay raise he got and besides his time as a GA with Nebraska and Tennessee, UCF was his first major college football coaching experience....Travis Fisher also has limited experience at the division one level, though he did play in the NFL(9 seasons), UCF was also his first step into coaching major college football.

Now on the subject of Donte, he was paid a larger amount due to his recruiting abilities and the fact he was leaving a job to join an unknown. I believe guys like Held quickly followed Coach Frost because not only was it a major step up (and in Held’s case his alma mater), but they believe in what Frost is selling. Plus besides Fisher and Walters who both had pretty lucrative NFL careers this is more money then any of these guys have ever made. Plus if you look at Fisher, Held and Duvall all had the largest pay raises percentage wise.

Are we recruiting him at DB.  That is more of a DB stance.

I think this staff has type/build of athlete they covet and if they get them signed then they figure out where they fit best. And though it does look like a DB stance I imagine it was just the best looking image they created.

So are the Nebraska coaches still recruiting at night now that they are in Orlando?  I still wouldn't have minded keeping a guy like Keith Wiiliams who was a solid recruiter and maybe a couple of new non-UCF defensive staff members.  They'd be able to stay on the recruiting trail 24/7.

They’re coaching during the day and recruiting at night, Frost flew across the country to in home with Martinez.

Wants to take up to three visits before signing later this month.

Sounds like both he and his mom are really interested in Nebraska but doesn't sound like we've been in contact yet.

Without posting VIP info from 247 I can say that according to Wiltfong there has been quite a bit of contact.

  7. Some on the doubts surrounding Chinander should be quieted by the fact his defense has played the 2nd, 8th and 16th overall scoring offenses this year but prior to today still managed to be 33rd in scoring defense. I got faith in Scott 100%, we should just be stoked about the events that are unfolding.

    "He's an enormous risk." ???

That is just crazy talk.  He was the Top candidate on every major program needing a coach.

Three years ago, MR was an enormous risk.  Frosty proved at UCF he could take an 0-12 team and turn it into a Top 20 team.  He did this with nothing.  He is not an enormous risk.

Husker fans  ... please get a grip.

I agree, the I’d fire him in three years is not only fiscally irresponsible, but the attitude that it plaguing fan bases such as Tennessee.

I know, right?  I'll reserve judgement till i see, but really reminds me of a Lovie Smith hire for Illinois.  I didnt think that would work well, and so far it really hasn't at all.

But atleast Lovie has ties to the state in which he is coaching. He also was just recently unemployed, Herme hasn’t coached winced 2008. Makes zero sense... at least it’s no us, it Callahan esque

    Why we going to Scottsdale??

Also from that article Frost mentions there are only a few places i'd leave to coach, obviously Nebraska is one of them, I wonder what the others are or if there are others?

What they’re saying is Frost was there visiting the in laws, as that is where his wife is from? I didn’t care to check as that is a little too personal for my taste. Scott did say on the radio today everyone had the whole weekend off, I don’t know.

  11. Well on other boards they’ve been tracking flights. Same plane that took Moos from Lincoln to Penn St has made a couple trips to Scottsdale over the weekend and then to Orlando today. What they’re proposing is they went down and had Frost sign a deal similar to what Schiano had signed which is essentially a binding agreement but not the contract on Sunday and then got it officially signed today. I have no claim to this just relaying stuff I’ve read.
