teams to show that fine level of sportmanship to that they have

    down there. )

    at KSU-W

    vs MU-W

    at ISU-W

vs NU-W (CU wins the North, gets humiliated by Texas again)

  2. And I remember when OU was vieing for national championship honors.........

    it sure is funny.......

    HOW THINGS CHANGE...........................

    :woo

As an NU fn for the last 28 years, I concur...Yes it is funny how things change.

  3. Taylor, Beck, and incoming Freeman; finally having options and a choice. All will be competing for time. Taylor will be the obvious starter, but watch for Beck to get much more playing time next year. Unless Taylor gets hurt, I don't think Beck sees the field this year (what would be the point). Yes Beck could get some experience, but why burn a year for a few plays. I look for Freeman to redshirt his first year, while he learns the offense, I think Beck is doing that right know. QB will not be a problem in the distant future, but all would do better with the building of a decent offensive line.

  4. It always has been. Now it's just a good title to an article.

Agree...There would be something really wrong if it is just becoming a priority. Although, it seemed they forgot about that priority against MU. The interior line is doing well, they just need to find someone (anyone...please) to replace Thomas and Evwaraye.

  5. I would say Taylor. He is doing a good job. He would be doing a great job if his OL would step up. I have never seen Beck play, so I could not really say how well he can do.

  6. The problem with the O(this game) was not the receivers, IMO it was the O-Line. You could have WRs that were 6.5 and ran 4 flat and it wouldn't change that Taylor couldn't throw to them while lying on his back.

  7. So getting rid of the 3 man front does what? Give you a 4th DL so the TE can eat us up? Bull rush from the middle only to give Smith the outside lanes to run more? You tell me?

The 3man front was not the whole problem. The problem is that the 3 man front was obviously not working and no change was made. The LBs were over-pursuing and leaving the middle open. A 4man front can clog running lanes and slow a runners momentum, without having to use the LBs to do it. They need some LBs to stay home, but two were in coverage or blitzing the exterior, the other two were used to fill holes in the middle. Once Smith got by the LBs filling holes, oops nobody in the backfield.

  8. I think Cosgrove made great adjustments (disagree with the 2 safety zone blitzes in the 2nd half, though). Overall, though, Cosgrove is doing good, we just don't have enough talent (especially in the secondary) and Brad Smith is too good. I think every team in the country knows how to covert a 3rd and long against us, just throw it up top and wait for a Husker corner to do the rest.

I would give him C- (at best). He had many player overpursuing in the backfield. Many out of position. He failed to put pressure on Smith. Most of the game he had all day to do whatever he wanted. Yes he is a very talented QB, but he does not need more help from us. They scored 41 on us, since when can another team put up 41 on you and have people say the DC did a good job?

  9. How funny some of you are. Just last week 99% of the people were praising Cosgrove. Talk about your shallow fans!!!!!!!!!

So by your coment, do you mean since we praised him at one time, we must continue to praise him no matter what? We are NEVER allowed to be upset with him? Are we supposed to be happy with his coaching this week? :wtf

Yes, I praised him last week and the week before. He ran some good schemes for the last few weeks. It is completely obvious that a 3 man rush was not working, but he kept using it. He obviously was not prepared to defend Smith, he ran VERY questionable schemes, and failed to find change up. I support him, but that does not mean that I cannot get pissed at him when he calls a game this poorly.

  10. I have checked out a couple. One message board I visited was the "The Football War Room". They really did not discuss football though. They mostly insulted Nebraska coaches, players, fans, and the state. There were a couple of NU fans that made posts on there. They were trying to actually make some points and debate a subject. They were met with juvenile remarks and attacks. So if you actually want to read or discuss the subject of football, I would look elsewhere.

  11. its sad ahman doesnt get as many touches as he used to... i hate sherman... i think green is in his last year of his contract if i am right??? i am not sure though. maybe he will go to a team that will use him.

The trouble is not Ahman or the number of touches that he gets. The Packers lost two veteran offensive lineman to free agency in the off season. The other offensive linemen are awful at blocking. They also have only a couple of veteran receivers that are not injured. Bubba Franks, their starting TE is out as well. With lack of experince at TE and WR, Ahman gets poor down-field blocking. Not that it matters much, buecause he can't seem to get a block from his POOR offensive line.

Sherman lost his line and not by his decision. I admit that he has had his problems, but many of the problems you see this year (poor draft picks, injuries, and players lost to free agency) are not his fault and are beyond his control.

  12. I still cannot believe the gap between us and TTech.  I mean after the fumbled interception, it came down to a 4th and long for TT to win.  Props for them making the plays.  But that game was soo close there shouldn't be a 16 place gap between us and tech.  Oh well, at least we're up there.  Not that it really matters.  Well, these are the polls that matter, but it's not gonna matter too much for us, unless we win the north and win the Big 12 game.  It's still possible!  5-1 is still a damn nice change from last year eh?

    GO BIG RED!

Notre Dame is probably saying the same thing about the distance between them and USC. Ratings are like politicians; you never know whether to believe them or not, they are most likely controlled by special interests, and rarely is the #1 spot held by someone that you like.

  13. Doubtless there will be all manner of predictions made on the upcoming game between our Huskers and the Missouri Tigers; some based on tradition others based on trends, statistics, and more in-depth intuitive prognostications.  But I prefer to look at things in a more… unconventional light.  A light that is not necessarily grounded in logical progressions or rational thought, just based purely on the emotional power my Huskers have over me.  They are my heroes, my knights in shining armor that wage war every year against those who wish to cloud the valorous Nebraska legacy.  And while they’re reign over this mythical world of mine is sublime, allow me to give you a glimpse of my Husker heaven and our next game…

When two teams have such a history as the Huskers have with the Tigers and they meet head-to-head on the battlefield, you can throw out the statistics for they are meaningless.  The Tigers will mobilize their whole force for this game as all the other teams who play Nebraska have done and will continue to do.  There is a very simple reason for this and this reason hasn’t changed for the last 40 years.  To defeat the Huskers is to claim a banner that can be held high for the rest of the year, a pennant displaying to the rest of the world the power you wield; the barbarian horde capturing the Roman fascis.  The teams yet to come on the Nebraska schedule face the prospect with a great deal of ambivalence though.  They cannot wait to claim the banner, yet they hesitate when it comes to entering the field and attempting the deed.  That hesitation, that slight moment of doubt that is born in the opposition as they watch the mighty Red & White Army line up against them, that is where the victory lies.  Our foes realize they have been beaten as they take the field, such is OUR power.  Just as the warriors of old defeated forces that may have seemed unconquerable, so too do our Huskers; and just as those heroes emitted an aura of invincibility, so does an air of absolute inviolateness radiate from our team and turns the knees of the enemy to water.  Thus far our heroes have vanquished two ferocious bear dens, a troop of possessed churchmen, a lethal pack of panthers, and raging cyclones.  The next casualty of our hunt will be the savage Tigers.  Fierce creatures you must be wary of, lest they spring and catch you unawares.  But we will take the trophy in the end, for we won before the game started.  And how could a plain farmer in overalls accomplish all this?  Because the farmer is the epitome of the indefatigable.  He can be bent by the forces of nature and not break; he can be hunted by the savage beast and not run.  He is the earth itself, rooted deep in the rock-solid soil of the Nation and secure from within knowing he is unconquerable.  The mighty Red Army will roll my friends, elemental in its strength and utterly implacable in its determination.  Woe to those who seek to check them or keep them from their destiny!  Woe to the conquered!!

    GO BIG RED!!

I am smelling a Humanities Professor here! ;)

Or possibly a one of the record 80 first team Academic All-Americans that have come out of the football program, or one of the 222 Academic All-Americans to come out of UNL athletics.

  14. What they don't show in that picture is the other side of the field where we had another pretty good size patch of red. There was also red scattered randomly throughout the stadium. I was sitting in the mini-sea of red though. Our fans were truly amazing there. I'm so glad that I was lucky enough to be a part of it. I think the players really appreciated it too. Many of them pointed towards us and kept pumping us up throughout the game.

Wish I could have been there. If there was another side of the stadium that was similar to this pic, I stand in awe. Great job!! Gotta love the support the Huskers get in Texas. With all of the D1 schools in Texas, it is amazing the Huskers draw so much support down there. I guess people have good taste everywhere. A true example of Husker Nation.
