  1. Im sorry to hijack the thread that you already hijacked formerfan but I liked what I saw today from the Huskers. The future looks very good for this team and COACHES.

Thats all I have to say about that!

Carry on with your coach bashing formerfan

I agree the team played well today. If they can protect the football and watch the penalties they will have a great rest of the season.

P.S. Formerfan's name pretty much tells all about how he feels about the Huskers.

  2. Does anyone know what ever happened with Spain? I'm not sure of his first name, Terrell, maybe?

He was academically ineligible this semester. He should be with the team in the spring.

  3. I found this article on MSNBC website. The writer breaks down the teams and makes his predictions.

    College Predictions 101

    by John Tamanaha

    TEXAS TECH at NEBRASKA

Needless to say, the Cornhuskers have been waiting nearly a year for this one. Never mind that both teams are 4-0 and ranked in the sometimes-inexplicable Harris Interactive Poll. When Nebraska loses a football game 70-10, circumstances regarding a rematch need not include relevance in the conference standings.

Seeking revenge over Texas Tech for the worst loss in the 114-year history of Huskers football will take center stage in Lincoln on Saturday, but it won’t come easy. The Red Raiders lead the nation in scoring, averaging 57.2 points per game.

Nebraska counters with a defense that is working on a stretch of 10 touchdown-free quarters (all of the Wake Forest and Pitt games, and the first half versus Iowa State) and ranks second in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 9.0 points per game.

Both teams built their undefeated records by playing all four games at home. Nebraska gets to extend its homestand to a fifth game, and since Texas Tech hasn’t played as sharply in recent times away from Lubbock, you shouldn’t expect to see Cody Hodges at his best during his first road start under center, going against a unit of angry Blackshirts.

On the other hand, Cornhuskers quarterback Zac Taylor, who set school records with 36 completions and 431 passing yards in last week’s overtime victory over Iowa State, will get the job done once again for Bill Callahan.

Opening point spread: Texas Tech by 4

    Pick: Nebraska 24-23

  4. He can try and audible all he wants, but with our crowd he will make mistakes, and the Huskers must be prepared to take advantage of them.  GO BIG RED

Like my date on prom night.

Well if she took advantage of you I guess you came out all right! ;)

Unless you're talking about the GO BIG RED part. Then I think a doctor is the place to go.

  5. Would have to agree with you. This guy should end up a Husker after he gets done with his OU and Oklahoma St visits.  I am just glad he rescheduled his visit to NU after he intially cancelled it the first time.  It would be nice having him play along Chris Brooks, Frantz Hardy and David Ausberry (hey it's still possible)

    And Menelik Holt!

thanks, i forgot about my boy Meno

Can you just imagine this line-up.... WOW! Don't know how they would all actually perform, but it definately sounds good.

    Chris Brooks - 6-4/190

    Menelik Holt - 6-4/205

    Tyrell Spain - 6-3/190

    Terrell Reese - 6-4/192

    David Ausberry - 6-4/215

  7. I can't remember if the Huskervision screens have anything that reminds the crowd to stand-up and yell. Some of the pro games I have been to, the screens say things like: "Bring on the Noise", "Lets hear it", and "Louder, Louder, Louder". If not, it might be another way of reminding those "quiet sitting types" to get off of their keesters and get involved. I actually like to do the old fashioned way: get in their faces, tell them to get on their feet, ask them to help the team out a little, and say things like why didn't you just stay home and watch it on TV. I don't think I have ever left Memorial Stadium without having a scratchy throat and needing a glass of water. LET"S GET LOUD PEOPLE!!!!!!!!

    :wasted:clap:clap:horns2:wasted:horns2:clap:wasted:clap:cheers

  8. I agree that Glenn will play more as the year goes on. I tend not to question those (like the Husker coaching staff) who obviously know more than me about why Glenn is playing and why he is not; but that's just me. Sure, there are a lot of players that I would like to see play and/or play more (Beck, Roark, Lucky, L. Jackson, Glenn, etc.), but also feel they should be played at the right time and I trust the coaches to make those decisions. It does not matter if I think that they are right or not, they have more than an opinion to back-up their decisions.

  9. OH!!! I remember.... Taylor set a new record and played a premier role in the Huskers win against ISU. Great job Zac! :thumbs

By the way, a QB ALMOST throwing and INT happens in just about every football game I have ever seen; but in fact, he didn't. Its nice that after a win like this and such a great game for NU, we can all concentrate on the positives (which there were so many) and leave the knitpicking by the wayside; if only for a little bit.

:cheers Cheers to NU football, Zac Taylor, and to a half-full glass.

  10. That is one of my main concerns with this offense, and one of the biggest reasons why they have not scored much.

That's assuming if we run in that situation, we actually get in the endzone.

:yeah If you go back and watch the game, I do believe that NU did try to run the ball in the redzone. They were stopped pretty abruptly.

The first drive ended with three rushes in the redzone: one by Taylor, two by Ross, and then a field goal by Congdon.

The second time in the redzone: incomplete pass to Dane Todd, rush by ross, Taylor rushed pass thrown incomplete

Third time in redzone: Ross rush, Taylor pass incomplete to Mueller, Taylor rush, PENALTY NU delay of game 5 yards

Fourth time in redzone: Taylor pass incomplete to Nunn, Ross rush, Taylor rush and fumble.

I count eight rushes, one broken play rush (was supposed to be a hand-off to Ross), and four passes.

I would say they did rush the ball. Now you can argue that they should have used Glenn, but IMO I would say they wanted to give the ball to their most experience players in important situations.

  11. :thumbs

Okay guys, I haven't been replying lately, but I have been readin'.

I am a high school football coach who has had many successful seasons, but this year, we have a "little" talent and we are gettin' smoked....Consequently, I am geting drug under the bus by guys who "Think" they know football....

Now with that said, I get my shot to question BC ( :smokin )

Knowing that he definately knows a hell of alot more than I

What a great win yesterday !!!!  We couldn't have aksed for a better "improvement" of offensive yardage production..... and the blackshirts did a good job of pressuring Meyer.

Now, I am still not expecting 8-3, 7-4, etc.....

    The jury is still out

    REASONS:

    1.  You need to RUN the ball effectively, regardless of what the defense is giving you.  Yes, it worked yesterday, but if only 1-2 of those key catches hit the ground, the results would be different.

    2.  The blackshirts did a nice job, but remember that ISU didn't have Hicks.  He is a very good player, and that made ISU pretty one-deminsional....What would have happened if the D couldn't pin back their ears and come hard like they did.

    3.  We do not have a consistant kicking game....Yes, Koch is great....but Congdon, although his % is okay, has missed 3 very big FGA..... and This is TWICE in the last two games that we have kicked the damn ball out of bounce after BIG score !!!!!

    4.    I love Ross, but where is Lucky.... will this kid stay around if we are only going to run the ball a "handful" of times..... He can easily see how his hometown Trojans are using

reggie bush (Heisman)....and Lucky could transfer and "redshirt" and not lose eligibiltiy.... only because BC has WASTED his redshirt..... How about Cody Glenn, watsted "shirt".... Insided the 10 a few times...and never see him.....only 3-4 carries this year????

ross didn't leave when he did not get the start as a frosh, so Lucky and Glenn need to be patient. reggie bush and a handful of others are unusual as newcomers to get to start as 1st year guys, adrian petersen another rarity........if these guys are smart (Lucky & Glenn) , they know why Ross starts ahead of them, think about it.......if they gel and play well as soph., juniors and seniors, would they expect a new "kid" to come in and start ahead of them? only if he was damn good and earned it in practice....i am tired of hearing about how all these 1 st year guys should be guaranteed playing time as recruits.......it is like everything should be, you come in and earn your playing time, not be given it! if they walk, let 'em walk......

    hunter

I totally agree! Lucky and Glenn need to understand that, as long as Ross is producing the way that he is, they will see little playing time. Many of these new recruits need understand that when games are this close, they will play sparingly at best. They need to play the best and most reliable players to win games, not play young recruits to keep them from transferring.

  12. I think that the kicking game adds an excitement to the game you may not otherwise get. Sometimes it gets the blood a-pumpin to see a team works its way down field, with seconds left, and kick a field goal to win. The kicking game meant a lot to this game (to NU and ISU). I don't think it would have been as great of a game without it.

  13. 10-3 and we fire a coach for being mediocre. 7-5 and they're bragging about being 12-north champs.

:yeah At least we didn't hire a Northwestern hand-me-down. They have to create as much smoke as they can in order to take the spotlight off their team troubles. All of the crooked sh*t they have done to bring athletes there and thay can't even beat Colorado St.

  14. I Like the 13 to 10 romp over ISU......There are some cracked out Mizzou fans that are actually predicting a close game with Texas...I really don't know what the average Tiger fans thinks of Texas , but I know what to think of the Tigers.......THEY ARE GOIN TO GET ROLLED LIKE A TOURIST IN SOUTHBEACH.....it's goin to be one of those bad days for the Tigers

    Texas 57.....could be 77

    MU 10....

Husker fans need to wake up. You are no longer a legitimate Big 12 team.

Especially this year when the Huskers have to rely on their defense for offense.

Not to say Mizzou doesn't have problems either. Dave Christianson is a disappointing offensive coordinated (although this year they are letting Smith get out of the pocket and run more) and Gary Pinkel has a losing record at Missouri.

However, Missouri is a better football team than Nebraska. Unlike Nebraska, Missouri has a QB, and is not a defense-only football team.

Missouri is going to surprise a lot of people on Saturday. Last year Missouri was close to beating Texas in Texas. This year the game is in Columbia and Missouri will compete.

    11 a.m., J.D. Tuckers, be there...

I'll be in there like swim wear,

    Go Mizzou!!

    :cheers

I will be a Faurot Field.......I'm there every home game and I know when the Tigers are goin to win and when they are goin to lose.........I called the New Mexico debacle and I am calling a serious beating by the Horns.......Hey Tiger, who is goin to stop V Young?....Most of the decent talent along the D-Line are gone and the guys left suck.......The Tigers have no Running back to bruise it between the tackles and they don't have the speed to get to the corner.....Futhermore, The O-line is Horrible....they stink....SO TELL ME HOW THEY WILL COMPETE?

Please don't bring Chase or Brad into this because they can't do it all...Smith with throw 2 or 3 Int's when the Tigers get behind and start to press....Speaking of Behind.....thats what the Horns are goin to spank...PINKLE"S FAT BEHIND! ! ! ! !

    MU 9

UT.....77....it's goin to make the Norman Conquest look like nail biter

    :yeah:yeah:yeah:yeah:yeah

  15. This is nothing more than some bar pushing match between 2 guys that don't want to fight but keep running their mouths anyway - big f'ing deal.

Gee, sorry it does not live up to your standards. I apologize for my descriptives. Maybe you and Jim Everett compare biceps ( that's not a big muscle, look how big mine is). I thought it was a funny clip, pure and simple, but I honestly didn't think someone would post a response about what a real fight is and what is not. No, it is not the ultimate fighting championship, but that really wasn't the point. Give me a break!

You forgot the part where I said, "This video is as hilarious today as was however many years ago" and turned it into a personal attack about me and my biceps  nice.

One thing about email is that you can't inject voice inflections . . or atleast not accurately. Let's keep the personal attacks in the "woodshed".

    :cheers

I have no problem with no personal attacks. Nothing was meant as a personal attack, but more as an critique of your response to a fun-intended post that I made. Just thought your "Big F'n deal" remark was a tad overzealous. I am sorry that you took my reply so personal.
