  1. While A&M presents a challenge in itself, he leaves his Alma mater on his own terms rather than what he perceived to be an upcoming bitter fallout. Tough to swallow, but he leaves to take the reins over an athletic department that needs stability in the most competitive conference with more recent success in nearly every sport.

Pillen comes off like an ex bargaining to maintain a relationship. And at the end of the day, it seems like a good long term result for everyone directly involved.

Their coach directly addressed this after the game in his press conference (fouls called on NU in the second half). Bottom line, they spent the entire second half on the perimeter and didn't attack enough/play through he post like they did that prevented foul opportunities like in the first half.

Then you have a general incompetency of the refs in general.

Hoiberg wasn’t happy either and in the ears of refs quite often. Very slow/delayed whistles.

Dude, if you can leave for free (these guys are not using up their 1 free transfer) you leave and get a nice deal...then you leave again and get another deal.  Then you leave as a grad transfer and get another deal.

Part of me wonders if the Athletic Departments want a players unions or some further regulation so the schools/coaches can eliminate the unforeseen variables. Right now is kind of like the Wild West for the prospects and they should run with it until the grifters leach onto their NIL money.

@Savage Husker He really did take a career risk...with most players leaving town, a black eye on the University, in a state with a hot bed of HS talent, and a place that was starting to feel good winning for once under Briles.

I'm glad you brought this up to show how Rhule can turn around negative things into positive situations.

I saw quite a few of his games and his progress.  Always liked him and was happy with how he flipped Baylor from Shame and Death.... to competing and winning and doing things right.

Was also sad how some folks here at Nebraska turned there nose down at Baylor and continued their disgust even when Rhule was trying to do things right after a terrible situation he signed on for.

Rhule‘s son-of-a-preacher-man background was ripe for a town/school like Baylor. If Rhule is the man, I really hope the culture in Lincoln is strong enough to keep Rhule around through retirement because this state needs another positive uplifting coach, kind of like John Cook. Don’t need the anger of Bo, the knock off version of Mr Rogers, or the immaturity of Frost.

Rhule and his staff will make more mistakes but I have a good feeling he learns from them and adjusts. Outside of winning and winning something big, what else can one ask for.

This could very well set them back 5-8 years. Nuts

Bump. I’m digging for something else, but found this thread and comment particularly interesting and not at your expense either. I think most would have made this statement when it was made - I would have.

Baylor had 1 recruit. Rhule comes in and has them top-10 by Year 3. I swore to myself I’ll not get excited about Husker football until they gave me a reason to, but this is another example giving me a lot of optimism.

  6.  People have some pretty defensive and accusatory justification over simply identifying how the biggest upset of a #1 team, playing the game in your local market, is not easily accessible as flipping to a channel. The streaming service is a disservice to the casual fan, especially when there are dozens of cable stations dedicated to sports alone.

Oh how the times change from when we missed the first 5min of a bowl game because UCONN women *losing* is played on 3-4 ESPN stations.

One more thought, the play by play guy on Peacock (Jac Collinsworth) was terrible.  He's a nepo baby that is also terrible at doing football games.

One of my favorite aspects of last night is simply how this game was Peacock…I mean, of course it takes an additional payment based subscription to watch a local school take down the nations #1 ranked team.

  8. Rebounds, turnovers, and fg’s/% pretty much indicate the better team won by the right margin. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it doesn’t look like a terrible stat line. Appears Wisconsin is just better offensively and NU needs to play a helluva lot better defensively if they going to beat ranked teams.

Does Raiola start immediately? Does he stay 4 years? Is Kaelin going to break into a starter role elsewhere before his first 2-3 seasons? Perhaps some angles NU could pitch if Raiola commits to NU and Kaelin is still interested, be a backup and then have 1-2 years to start. Regardless of where Kaelin ends up every schools job is to recruit above current talent on the roster.

This played out pretty well. Pretty stoked to have two stud QB prospects in the same class. Gotta tip the cap to Rhule for creating competition, that’s the stuff that gets one excited about the direction of the program.

He did.  He just didn't get prosecuted for it.

Nope. The county has an obligation to criminally prosecute domestic violence with physical assault, there’s no evidence he did anything. No way Lancaster County would let a man off the hook for DV

That would be my worry Sunday. Arkansas was probably the fastest team we saw this year, but they didn't have the size or experience to hang. Texas is athletic, tall, and experienced. We definitely have the defense, multiple options on the attack, and coaching to take the title. Going to be a battle on Sunday afternoon, should be a lot of fun.

Asia O’niell has about as much experience as our team combine

and why would Dylan risk his spot with Georgia to do that..??

Im just throwing crap against the wall after reading people question why he would entertain a visit to a dumpster fire program. Not asking this snarky, but do you think UGA would cut him loose for visiting his dad’s alma mater?
