  1. Wow. The app/stream connection dropped during the TO before the 4th down play by Maryland and didn’t realize until after Huskers ran first play. The connection has been quite poor.

    great stop, I guess

    A good one.

In all seriousness, go grab Aaron Best from Eastern Washington (current HC).

Honest question, Would he have clout to recruit or would this be just as much of a head scratch as Raiola is? If he’s that good then it would be a win-win for both the programs we root for because he’s not hacking it in Cheney while the Montana schools right themselves at Ewoo‘s expense

  3. Do they ever have pre-snap reads where HH could one-step drop to a WR when the DB is playing 7-yards off the man? Can’t recall seeing any of that, maybe I’m wrong though.

Getting just 2-3 yards on something like that would keep the defense a little more honest to setup future plays

  4. I’m sure this is an eye-rolling idea - like lining up the swinging gate for an extra point - but would anyone else line up to onside kick every kickoff just to kick it deep, pooch-it to at least the 25yd line, mix in a squib, or perhaps find a soft space to run down a loose ball?

Hard to build a QB room when you have a true freshman starter that would need to be unseated. As soon as A-Mart happened you had at least 2 years of QB misses. That said, AMart would win the division even with this line.

For as much criticism I held of AM for ball security, I never imagined it could get this bad.

Tcu went to the championship running the 335. The fact you think our defensive coordinator is bad shows how much you truly pay attention or no the game.

Sounded like players gambled, failed their assignments, and lost. MSUs first TD drive sounded like that, at least from the way Benning described what he saw on a couple plays.

  7. Maybe the loss is an opportunity for the coaches to teach the kids a lesson about respecting their opponent.

Seemed like the defense lacked some discipline, like the first half of the NW game. They bought into themselves too much after the Purdue game.

Zero halftime adjustments offensively. It’s easy to simply state how the play calling was questionable, but the players’ skillset and Satterfield’s philosophy are not connecting. Admittedly, they are down to what is essentially 2nd team players, but it lacks commitment to any identity and heavily relies on imperfect skill players executing perfectly.

Satterfield is coaching himself into G5 or QB Coach, unless he’s given cash to go buy a transfer QB in the offseason.

Pet peeve, I’d gamble on the punt going into the end zone vs fair catch at the 5-6

1998 was very much the same as 1996. Cold and wet. 2:30 kickoff that ended in the darkness of the early evening.  Another close, hard fought defensive battle.

That was my first Husker game, it was awesome but just a meh game where the offense couldn’t punch it in - like you’re saying. The pick-6 is really the only exciting play that stood out. I don’t recall it being wet though.

  9. ‘14 Miami - Ameer was an absolute stud. The nastiness and penalties during that game sure did feel like a grudge match. The stadium was rocking, I think my ears were ringing until the next the day.

‘10 @ UW - So many Husker fans invaded Seattle. I think T-Magic went untouched for an 80-yard TD on the first play of the 2nd half(?) and basically ushered out the UW fans. “Go Big Red” chants drowned out the Husky fans. Several UW fans were still talking smack after the game when the team was loading up on the busses

It was probably either heading into year 2 or year 3 of Frost's tenure that he said, referring to what the local beat writers were talking about heading into that season, "I'm sick of talking about culture; just play the damn games."

I think Frost's biggest issue is he wanted the players to set the culture so they owned it, like Tom did, but that only works if you already have a successful culture established. You gotta kick some butts and break people down to mold a losing team into winners before you can let them police themselves.

You see Rhule breaking guys down and building them backup in the preseason clips. Specifically when he sent the first team D off the practice field twice. They knew what he was doing, why he was doing it, and they embrace/learned from it. Now look at them!

I believe Frost went with a win now mode that sacrificed culture of discipline and development. Stuck by players who were immature/baggage (MoWa) and also alienated Riley players (Spielman). He never learned how to undo year-1 and was desperately chasing wins.

Rhule appears to be a coach who means what he says. Was it the halftime speech of the NW game where he talks about taking on a blocker to let the teammate clean up a tackle? I loved that and I believe their discipline is why they have been fun to watch.

I don't know what the conference bylaws are, but in this hypothetical, it would likely be a situation similar to 2012 wherein tOSU won the east but was ineligible to compete in the CCG so Wisconsin took their spot.

The CCG's are lucrative so I feel quite confident they'd have one, even if they had to take the #2 team in the east.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe Wisconsin was third choice after PSU who was also sanctioned

A backup offense going up against a team coming off a bye. Gonna have to create some opportunities offensively, there won’t be be any methodic drives punching it in. And yeah; as others are stating, need a defensive TD

    Gladly eat these words.

    Wow, what a drive!

I remember watching this live thinking, "How did he make that tackle?" That play was set up for a long gain.

Was listening to the game on the radio when this play occurred, Benning was real excited over that effort and “starred” that play as a big moment in the game.

Also, pretty close to a clipping. NW with a clear push in the back. Oh well.
