TT hasn't won in a month, so he's probably just checked out. Or maybe he didn't like review deciding the final point.

That was a violation that should have been called without the review. Glad to hear Merritt Beason express the sentiment that she preferred they win by kill, serve, block, etc

Another thing, most of the big ten teams are run heavy because you can find lineman and it’s a b!^@h to throw the ball starting in late October and November.  Run heavy teams are never going to fare well in generalized offensive stats that tends to favor points, yards and various stats that are largely ranked off quantity in descending order.

Does Michigan have natural grass?  I remember is HS I had a stable of very fast RBs.  We would show up to other venues and the grass on the field would be about 8" tall and the sideline would be wet and muddy without it having rained.  I could see Jim Harbough pulling s#!t like that

Hah! We had a 1st team all state RB in my class and our quarterfinals opponent hosed down their Astro turf field on game day with temps in the upper 30s / low 40s. We were one win away from playing Leon Jackson for the title.

The investigation came about because two other schools reported the stealing to the NCAA. I'm curious how they figured it out though...

lol ahh, that’s fair. Hedges my statement but still believe the NCAA would take any dirt on  Harbaugh annd investigate until they finally “get” him. I’m not a Harbaugh guy at all, but seems like they have an axe to grind compared to other shady doings. Or maybe Harbaugh really is just a sleaze, dunno.

Because the new AD felt that a Chryst led program had plateaued.  Sure they could win 9 games each year playing in the B1G West.  But in the new division-less B1G (where they would have to play more of the better teams) that wasn’t going to cut it.

It’s something the brass at Iowa has yet to realize.  Kirk-ball works against the horrible B1G West teams, but gets ran over when they play a high level team.

I think it’s going to be a while until we see a legacy B1G West team in the CCG.  There will be no more free passes for being the tallest midget.

Fair points which I don’t argue, but I don’t know if I’d subscribe to that same philosophy - and not saying that you are, either.

Maybe my opinion is skewed by what followed Solich and Pelini and I definitely understand the desire for taking a program to the next level, but I hedge on firing a consistent successful coach. I wouldn’t argue against sticking by K Ferentz, but I’d have a problem with the contracts the AD dolled out and the nepotism with Brian. Similar here by trading Chryst for Fickell.

I’d lean toward incremental changes than completely changing up the staff. Oh well, hoping we can gain from potential mistakes made by our conference foes.

Maybe Satterfield totally sucks. Maybe he's waiting for better pieces to play with.

Maybe it's a Shawn Watson situation. Watson was OC for the last worst Husker offense in 2009, when our defense was actually good enough to make us a spoiler in the National Championship picture. The inside word was that our starting quarterback Zac Lee was totally killing it in practice, but often failed to bring it on Saturday. He just wasn't as good as advertised, but significantly better than back-up Cody Green.

After a really anemic offense all season, Watson had a month to retool for our bowl game against a highly respected Arizona defense. He put Zac Lee into the RPO he wanted to run all along, and the Huskers rolled 33-0. Next season he ran the same offense with Taylor Martinez and the offense took off.

Always wondered what could have been had they started Taylor as a true freshman. I believe the starting defense said he give them fits in practice

Apparently I'm the only one who thinks Marcus Washington's college career was cut short by a dirty play that not only wasn't called a penalty (grabbing a player on either side of the ball by the outside of their shoulder pads and slinging them to the ground like you're steer wrestling is holding), but unless I've missed it, nobody seems to have an issue with.   For all the touch & borderline penalties in football today, players shouldn't get hurt off the ball & away from the play like this.

Was thinking the similar when they showed the replay. The broadcast sure did gloss over that fact too.

  8. Muted the volume at 14-0, did I miss much commentary? It definitely made it less insufferable, even though Huard is one of the more respectful commentators to NU.

Agree with those about NIL. Just open the check book - especially for a WR and multiple OL. Need to at least be a winning team before relying more on developing a program through evaluation and development.

The team looked flat two weeks in a row. UM beat us soundly, but something seems off and hopefully a night game on the road against Illinois can light a little fire and carry momentum into future weeks.

The 4th down shotgun snap up the middle was a really lame call. We really burned a timeout for that?

  9. My dad didn’t think to register me for football in 4th grade because I didn’t meet the minimum weight requirement. I barely made it as a 5th grader and somehow managed to become the starting Halfback and also played Fullback. The following year my dad talked my buddy’s mom into finally letting him play - “if my son can play, your son sure as heck can play.” Welp, he took over at halfback and tore it up, he later went on to earn a scholarship at Washington.

The undersized, slow to develop gene continued through high school. Was reluctant to play sophomore year but went to the first week of practice. I hated it, I remember looking around and thinking to myself how I don’t belong here, but I had made a commitment and stuck out the season. Tail end of the season I was on scout team D playing safety - all 5’4 120lbs. One play was a toss sweep and drifted to my left, but then saw the WR cut toward the backfield and I read the reverse. I redirected and pinned my ears to start my angle of pursuit to the other sideline, however, a 6’4 265lb LT head hunted me and blind side blocked me, he just blew me the fuuuuck up. He lifted me off the ground, mouth piece went flying, and I landed gasping for air as the wind was knocked out of me. I peeled my b!^@h a$$ off the field and told myself I’m never playing football again after the season ends. Completely legal block and turned out to be my lesson about keeping your head on a swivel.

To this day and through rule changes, I still have no remorse over watching someone get crack blocked.

The games after Michigan are winnable, it doesn’t mean that NU will win all of them, or even a majority of them. It just means that the remaining teams on the schedule aren’t very good. But, NU isn’t very good either.

Yup, I agree with that. It was a great performance by the defense in what seemed to be highlight-less. Hopefully they can create more turnovers and put up points of their own.

If they can learn to win against B1G schools next, maybe they get some momentum

    Yep!

After Saturday, it is 7 super winnable games.

I wouldn’t be too surprised we trip up against Illinois on a Friday night after a physical game against Michigan. While Illinois looks its worst since Lovie, I can see NU going out s#!tting the bed and giving the game away in the end.

  12. Team looked off yesterday. Mixture of losing top-2 RBs, not having Lenhardt, and no threat at Wide Out made this team look, at best, no progress from last week.

Depth on this team is 3-4 years away, as long as Rhule and Co. retain the right players and develop. Makes sense why we are looking at 25+ in this recruiting class. A good % of players will be replaced by next Spring and Summer.

I am encouraged for the future, but not for the season. Injury bug has nipped us and key transfers didn’t pan out. I’ll be satisfied with 6 wins, but 5 might be all we get to.

They have an elite QB and great skill positions. It will allow them to beat some of the weaker teams on their schedule. But if you've watched CU football this year you have noticed they get dominated at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. They are not a top 25 team and it will show when they play one. It's not even a dig, they weren't supposed to be great this year and I really don't think they are. It takes time to build the lines even if you are Prime and they are not even close to there yet. They are lucky Shedur rarely if ever makes a mistake. He is a special talent for sure.

CSU shot them selves in the foot several times. The “pick” penalty in 2OT was a weak call.

CSU < WSU/OSU/OU/Usc/UW/UU/UCLA. Those teams will thump Colorado and the love affair will end.

State of Colorado football is dirty, that game last night had to be an officials nightmare.

I didn’t like the all out blitz on third and 10+ when we were still in the game though. That play broke us IMO. We showed all day we could cover their guys. Not sure why that call at that moment

Yeah, that’s fair. I’ll tip the cap to Sanders and WR for breaking our back.

Maybe I’m going to give Sanders or CU OC too much credit, but I believe they recognized the all out blitz and checked to a quick drop and fade route knowing they were in man.

I'm not angry over the outcome of this game like Minnesota. Mostly I'm just deeply disappointed. I haven't given up on Jeff Sims though if Casey Thompson were here, we probably win at least one of those games.

Coach Rhule might've underestimated what he was up against with respect to improving Jeff's play. The important thing is that a correction is made. He's said that he'll do it. Unfortunately, I don't know that our other options would've changed the outcomes.

    Tough times! Tough times indeed...

As for what I learned, not much really. The defense again played pretty much lights out. How much more can one expect of them given how horrible the offense is performing. Their well is going to take even longer than I envisioned. And finally, to pay less attention to coach Sanders. He's an embodiment of narcissism and whatever thoughts I had of him being ethical given his statements of principal was clearly wrong.

Easily 2-0 with Casey Thompson. The final 2/3 final td’s came at the expense of defense having to sellout for a big play - sack/scoop/score - because the offense wasn’t going to get NU back in the game.
