Back to this kid. Its probably why we have 4 pages of posting about this kid. Why did we create a thread for him and tag him with the other scholarship commits. None of the other walk ons have a thread. Guessing thats why we are all debating him.

The thread was created way before he committed and when he did commit no one was sure if he was a scholarship player or not. But I agree, this conversation should be in a different thread. Talking about Matthias, it's an upside athletic kid that can hopefully at least give good looks in practice, and maybe carve a niche role on the team. If not, hopefully he has a great career in track and he doesn't hit the scholarship number

Not going to lie, if I were an outside receiver recruit, I’d be worried from what I’ve seen with this offense and AM’s ability to get the ball to the outside.

Kids commit to Georgia Tech every year thinking they'll be different

  3. I really like Luke. He can play in two more games and still redshirt, and I'd much rather have him for possibly 4 more years than put him out against Wisconsin and Iowa. I think AM starts if he gets healthy over Vedral

Well there are two things here....You throw the bones holding up the three fingers at the same time when there actually is a three and out. Throw the bones on a good defensive stop without throwing the three fingers up.

I phrased it weird but that's what I'm saying. Everytime we force 4th down some people throw the bones with the three and out sign no matter how many first downs we allowed

Early he mentioned that there is still a lot of football to be played, today and next week.   So I took it as a hint that we have to wait a week for Frost.

He even emphasized coaches playing in conference championships compared to this week games and bowl games. If you're looking to be extra optimistic

It looks like he tries to do too much, backing up to find a lane. That's something you can do in high school but usually turns out bad at higher levels. Watching his film I think he's pretty good athletically but makes questionable decisions.

It had been a while since I looked at Thomas's film, but watching again, here is what I see. Two red flags are that he tries to change direction of the field and carries the ball mostly with his right arm. The dancing will not work at the college level. However, if you watch his film, most plays where he tries to switch directions and move laterally is after he has ran 15-20 yds and is looking to get in the endzone. In college, those plays will end in 15-20 yds, not too bad. No idea how well he does with pass pro or catching (none in highlights). His lateral cuts are good but not elite.

The upsides are he has good size, good short area burst, and can make defenders miss in small spaces. He also makes you miss in the open field with stiff arms, change of pace juking, or simply out running you. He can bounce off hits well and carries multiple defenders for extra yards.

My quick take is he is a punishing running with speed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing the kid off, I've just always preferred backs that drive forward instead of dancing around. I like what I see other than how he was ending some runs. I'm taking the stance that above all else the staff must like him. It's not like this was a stab in the dark after losing out on a series of other backs. Definitely not against the commit.

  7. I'm from Ogallala and really proud to see Brody getting this chance. His brother was briefly recruited a while back and since then his brother has had some law trouble. I'm glad to see Brody getting back into it after everything that went down with his brother.
