Remember the Iowa game? PI called on a clear overthrow. Does Bo let it go? No he takes off his hat and hits the official with his hat. 15 yards later, Iowa goes on to win.

As a coach, when I see an opposing player starting to melt down on a call, I know we have got them right where we want them. Today, I told my team to worry about what they can control and let go what they can't including officiating calls.

I knew we lost games because of Bo, and now it's confirmed beyond doubt.

    Good riddance...

He didn't hit the official with his hat.

There's plenty of stuff that Bo actually did to legitimately criticize him for, so there is no need to make stuff up.

I don't know, when I watch the video it appears the ref reacts like the strap hit him somewhere. But if not, he at least covered the refs hands with spit so he deserved the penalty. He was arguing about a PI call he didn't like to get that 15 yarder too, wasn't he.

I'm not defending his actions, nor am I saying the penalty wasn't deserved.

I'm just saying cameras depth of field can affect your perception of distances. So you should stop making things up just to justify your feelings about him. The ref was not hit with the hat strap anywhere. It is very unlikely he got wet either. And please don't use your picture above -- which some may perceive as they were less than 2 feet apart -- to try to justify he did; that is just silly.

Good Post!!! He was probably just an inch or two outside of 2 feet....

I See what you did there. That was a nice way to tweak the stats for your point. Now why don't you include the yards gained scrambling out of the pocket on PASS plays that were counted as RUN plays.

Because a quarterback that scrambles didn't pass for positive yards, he ran for positive yards. A scramble is a run play that occurs after it is obvious that the pass play has failed. A sack is a pass play that fails before the quarterback realizes it failed and has a chance to turn it into a running play.

The best I can give you is adding another passing attempt for each scramble and give it ZERO yards.

    Don't have any hard facts...

    No you don't. :P

A scramble is a result of a pass play - just as a sack is a result of a pass play. Can't have it both ways. Nice effort thou.....

The NFL disagrees, but carry on.

Do you have a link on this. I don't know anyone that would not agree that scrambles and sacks are a result of a pass play being called.

They have averaged 7.6 yards per passing attempt, and 4.7 yards per rushing attempt.

Have sacks been factored in as runs or passes in this math?

Because if one takes the 24 sacks with the -162 yards and count them as pass plays instead of running plays, it looks like 6.22 yards per rushing attempt and 6.77 yards per passing attempt.

Now why don't you include the yards gained scrambling out of the pocket on PASS plays that were counted as RUN plays. Don't have any hard facts, however would guess that Tommy has scrambled for about the same amount of yards that he has been sacked for.... Now we are back to 7+ for passing and 5ish for running.

  5. But, NU is a "win" for a lot of the teams it played while Iowa was a "loss" for all the teams it played.

Making the adjustment for NU being 4-6 and Iowa being 9-0 the opponent win / loss looks like this:

    NU 51-29

    Iowa 43-30

  6. Bad decisions / Bad Breaks / Bad Execution got the momentum headed in the wrong direction - It looks to have turned. We will know better in the next 21 days. Why don't we sit back and support the current situation and see if this turns into something special. I have no say in big decisions and I guess you don't either. I do know that being positive is a lot more fun!!! I'm confident that it won't take 7 years to determine that this was not an experiment.

  7. ColoradoHusk - I get the feeling you do NOT like the results of your own poll here. By the way, I have never heard of an overtime game and a 10 point loss - classified as a "blow-out" espescially by a FAN.....Now a FAN should consider a 70-31 loss or a 70-10 loss as a blow-out.

    Keep preaching thou :(

  8. MoneyBall - you seem like a great husker fan !!! I am afraid somebody is going to see your seats and take them. I would like to be a good friend and keep an eye on your seats so that they don't get used. Can you tell me the section/row/seat# so that I can make sure your request to keep them empty is granted.

Maybe we can get together for the following home game.
