I know yet we have a 7 page topic on someone who left Nebraska. I just don't get why we care.

Exactly why waste time here when you can go read 100+ pages about Bo and Riley after they left.

Amazing how often the "joke" about Jurgens being moved from TE is used in reference to other players and then we see signs of what he will do at the position as well as the watch list that he is on.  But still see time and time again the silly stabs at our staff for being so dumb.

The SEC is only testing 3 times per week actually.

good point - i had frost on my mind which would be daily but yes SEC is on a plan that isn't as good as ours.  This is why we should make all 9 games where the SEC could explode.  But either way being tested 3x per week has got to be safer then the average person walking down the street.

If the conference uses 4-team pods and rotates them on a 10 game schedule, teams would play each other more often than they do now.  Everyone would meet every 2 years, home and home every 4 years.

Interesting thought - why wouldn't you just stick with 2 divisions to make a championship game more straight forward.  if you had pods would you just take the best 2 teams out of the 4 pods and let them play for the championship (with a chance that both teams come from same pod)

Or are you saying that 2 pods would be in each division and you would play everybody in your division pod yearly and then rotate the other two pods on a 2 year basis.  The math seams like that would have to be 11 game schedule.

I'm not quite ready to say that he lacks quick decision making. I have to see an offensive line and tight ends that block long enough to give him time to go through his reads without the pocket collapsing.

i hear you and hopefully the OL gives us a chance to see.  I just feel that some answers by the staff about AM have hinted towards great athlete maybe not so much in the mind of what they were hoping for.... No exact quote just a bunch of little snapshots that make it seem real.  Either way hope whoever takes snaps this season gets what they deserve which is a clean pocket more times then not.

  6. I feel like the biggest knock on Martinez may be his lack of quick and multiple sequence thinking.  When we lacked depth it was only a slight factor because we couldn't play fast with the limited players getting tired.  If depth is close to equal for the 2 deep a quick thinker and reactor becomes a better option at QB.

Yep, and I will never understand Nebraska fans who want Nebraska to be part of the elite teams in the country again, but don't recognize that schedule plays a role.  In the Big 8 it was Oklahoma, one of Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma State would rise up from time to time and a whole bunch of tomato cans.  They want to add Texas and Oklahoma to the division already playing Wisconsin every year and one of Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State is on the schedule, and many times two.  I just think if people expect Coach Frost to elevate the program to Devaney, Osborne heights again, adding Kansas to pair with Texas or Oklahoma makes a hell of a lot more sense.   Plus I like another school that would be an easy day game drive for fans.

When and if conference go to 16 or more teams you won't see crossover games or at least less. Back in the days you are discussing most conference were only 2/3 team's deep. Limiting schollies and more tv have made average teams better.

Would you say most of Osborne's great teams were grinders or big play?

    Osborne was a grinder

however when your talent is 3x the guy across from you - grinder plays turn into big plays

Mix in a few designed big plays and they come often

I've often wondered if people that make such simplistic arguments against masking apply it elsewhere to other things:

    1.  "Nebraska only got 1 yard rushing on the last play, so running plays are not the answer." or the related "Nebraska threw an incomplete pass, so passing plays are not the answer."

    2.  "We still have car accidents where people wearing seat belts die, so seat belts are 'no panacea'."

    3.  "A guy choked to death on a piece of broccoli, so eating vegetables is not a good idea."

I have also wondered where people that believe everything that they are told get in life.

I don’t think too many here on HB are celebrating it, but more like poking a little fun at it.   No harm with that.

Correct - how terrible for a fan base to poke fun at a guy that did his share of poking fun at everybody in the state that wasn't listed on the roster.

I get your arguments, but until we get an actual game to discuss I get the other side too. It'll have been 11 months and we didn't even get a spring game.  There is nothing but speculation off of some media interviews and some 2 minute twitter videos to talk about so we fill the time with whatever pops up.

I have no problem discussing any topic - but if your reason is a lack of games for 11 months then why be an advict of something from multiple years.
