  1. Petty, and some really stupid, but the "Good luck" one doesn't fall into that category. Meyer truly ought to know better than to contact a recruit like that, and a recruit, not knowing that other coaches hands are tied, could easily think that Meyer is the only coach that cares enough about him to wish him good luck. If it's petty, pull it and let all coaches do it. Otherwise, enforce the rules.

According to Meyer, he was talking to the coach and Spence came up to the coach, he did not seek him out to say good luck.

I didnt say they where strictly for FB. I just used FB examples.

  2. EZ-E, if you're up to it I would like to read your expanded thoughts on the defensive backfield.

Here are my projected starters as it stands:

    Safety - Stafford, PJ Smith

CB - Andrew Green, Mo Seisay

When you look at the size and athletic ability of these guys and a ton of them behind them, one could very easily make the case that we are one of the biggest and most athletic teams in the secondary in the nation no exaggeration.

The competition at CB is absolutely fierce and just got even better with the addition of CJ on campus this week. I am on the Coach Joseph bandwagon as well.

Seisay has future first round draft pick written all over him.

    Lets hope.

  3. I would like to see a stat showing the stats racked up by transfers. Russell Wilson is, off the top of my head, one of the more successful transfers that I can think of. Leaving JUCO totally out of the discussion, it seems to me that the majority of these guys who transfer never see the success they're looking for.

Anyone know where I can find info on that?

Successful transfer QBs, off the top of my head, include Wilson, Scott Frost, Troy Aikman, Zac Taylor, and Jevan Snead (mixed success).

A little bit of digging (http://blogs.houston...football_qb.php) reminds me of Ryan Mallett, Colt Brennan, Jeff Hostetler, and Nick Foles.

Of course there have been many flops too. Mitch Mustain is the biggest one I can recall in recent history. The article above lists Snead and Keller among the biggest busts. I disagree, at least both started, even if we discovered that Keller should not have over Ganz. Really, these guys are just looking for a shot, and most wouldn't have gotten it where they are at. I don't know where Harrison Beck is now, but at least he finally got on the field at North Alabama or wherever he finished playing. The fact that he could only find success in Div 2 says that we were better off freeing up the scholarship or even the locker room space

Then there are the anti-transfers, the ones who stay even though chances of seeing the field look bleak, and they pull success out of it anyway. Bruce Mathieson is a classic, he held the clipboard a number of years in the pros even though he rarely saw game action at Nebraska. Brook Berringer only saw meaningful action after Frazier got hurt and was clearly going to get a shot in the NFL. Matt Cassell stayed on the bench at USC and became an NFL starter. Vinnie Testaverde waited for Kosar to leave (but only because Kosar hinted he'd leave early), and Leinart waited for Palmer to go. This shows that transferring isn't necessarily the right answer.

I didnt know Foles was a transfer.

  4. Couldn't agree with you more, DiB. Some of these rules are just absolutely impossible not to break. Not to mention that they are extremely petty violations too.

I dont even get the tobbaco one it is smokeless and doesnt harm anyone but the user it would be diffrent if it were cigs.

  5. Update 4 Star Kenneth Clark from California is visiting! (Thanks to girlknowsfootball)

He is a 5.6 3 star on Rivals and a 4 star on Scout

Thanks for the info. I have been using scout this whole time for all of these players.

I think he would be better as a CB.

I can't imagine just how much you're going to be posting when school's out.

Lots. It will make your head explode.

  6. This thread is totally out of topic who cares about TCU except Green is going there.

    I care about TCU

    Lies.

My uncle is the head trainer for their football team.

Ohh good for him. Im done talking about TCU

  7. Ohio State self-reported 46 secondary violations to the NCAA over the last 11 months. That's a lot! Almost 50 secondary violations! Most of these are minor but still put a dent into the university.

    Examples:

Assistant coach Mike Vrabel using smokeless tobacco on the sidelines during football games last season, which was noted and reported to Ohio State by a Columbus-area health teacher and was a secondary violation of NCAA rules against using tobacco during games or practice.

Or first-year football coach Urban Meyer, less than three weeks after he was hired, committing a secondary violation by saying "good luck" to recruit Noah Spence (Class of 2012 DE) at a game in December.

Or athletic director Gene Smith committing a secondary violation in April by filming a video message to a football recruit.

Stupid stuff. I really think these should just be taken out. Remember the text book case that happened a few months ago? How we issued the wrong textbooks to kids and broke NCAA rules stupid stuff.
