  1. I'd like our chances with TA and Frazier's Oline (assuming Oz is calling the plays).

Well this team isn't the GOAT, and even if the game were played in Lincoln we wouldn't Black Out the stadium by any means. But we would play the role of Nebraskan Assasins and sneak out a win. Then they would probably claim they had the Flu. It's not like their offense has The Cream of the Crop, but Armstrong isn't exactly Tommie Frazier 15 either.

  2. Give him at least 4 full years to bring his guys in and evaluate the direction of the program. If he fails then, so be it. New coach time. I watched for two years wrs and tes running free with a QB who couldn't read a defense.. I want to see their QB guy go through the progressions and make the correct throw. MR better hit those JUCO ranks hard for next year at the DE spot.

  3. Glad Read is gone!

I'm not a fan of Banker but feel he did not have a lot to work with on the Dline. There was hardly any pressure all year from the front 4. I am hoping he will bring the corners up once he gets some guys who can cause chaos in the backfield.

  4.

I see MR recruiting his butt off unlike Bo, who left the cupboard pretty bare. The depth is just not there like with other teams. Its not MR fault.\

    The recruiting rankings say otherwise.

Are we top ten? No way.

    But "bare?"

We've out recruited our division by a fair margin over the last few years (aka, talent on the roster) and the team that beat us today by 30 friggin spots.

So let's stop moving the goalposts.

You can live in fairy world if you want and feel Bo left the cupboards stocked. He did not. This is one of the reasons why the team struggles. He didn't master the number game and had to many that did not pan out. Feel free to put the goal posts in their proper place.

  5. I guess I do not see the great talent in Lincoln right now. 6-8 guys who could play on any team, but then a big drop off. I see a DL that lost 4 guys (2 NFL), an offensive line that has injuries, and a running QB trying to be a throwing QB. I see MR recruiting his butt off unlike Bo, who left the cupboard pretty bare. The depth is just not there like with other teams. Its not MR fault. He's getting NU there. My hope is that next year the coaching staff will be running their system with what they know best. A finesse passing attack with a QB who can make the throws and make the reads. Sitting in the stadium, I have seen guys running wide open but the QB cannot see/doesn't check down/doesnt understand the offense. I have hope that it will get better. I have to believe once they get D1 talent on the Dline that the defense will look better. I have no idea what the secondary is doing under Banker though. Seems like a lot of 12 yards off the ball when they need eight. The special teams coach needs to pack his stuff up and go somewhere far, far away.

I liked Bo but got tired of his act. He was a bad reflection on NU and a PR disaster. I am trying to like MR and willing to give him a 4 year window to start turning things around. Not sure if he can, but talent wise, he will leave the program better than what he inherited it, imho. I seem to remember that MR redshirted a lot of players that will pay dividends down the road.

  6. When they lowered the scholarship level and NU decided it needed to be a finesse passing team instead of being a power football team.

Not sure when the wheels fell off the wagon. Was it the Callahan years that stole their desire? Pelini and his antics? Eichorst? Not the same NU program I grew up with in the 80's and the 90's, for sure.

  7. I tend to think this is the case. The lack of depth from years of poor recruiting exposes NU.

Is it still a zone read if the QB is not an option?

I agree with the EXPN commentator, if NU comes back today it won't be with Armstrong. I wonder if Barney's wrist is worse than we've been told, it seems as though it's TA no matter how horrible it gets. I long for the day when we have a real QB that throws real passes.

  8. I hate seeing teams blitz up the gut and Langsdorf runs directly into it. I would like to see a speed option. On third and one, IMO they need a fullback.

Getting TA on the edge is a win for us, however you also need at least one or two blockers out there with him. When the OL in injured it is hard for them to be mobile enough to get out there and support that effort.

As the OL and Cethan get healthy I would hope to see more of TA on the edge.
