Why did the Panthers want to hire him and give him $60M to coach if he’s a .500 college coach?

Because he has a track record of fixing dumpster fire teams and making them competitive. The Panthers fit the definition of a dumpster fire.

If Nebraska did decide to pick Campbell would anybody on here still support Nebraska?

I’d rather have him than Frost.
I’d be interested to know how much NIL money ISU is paying out compared to the rest of the conference. I’d guess it’s near the bottom and in this day and age, you need the $$.

  3. He brings higher caliber players to a lower level to play and excels. Wouldn’t happen in the b10 to such a degree imo.

You want a splash hire?  Prime.  A guy who can recruit his a$$ off?  Prime.  Who can get talent ASAP?  Prime.  Who can get NU respectable in year 1?  Prime.  Listening to his interview about his son Sheduer potentially getting the FCS single season passing record. Deion said he doesn't care and doesn't think his son does either. It's  not about individual records.....Dude gets it.  His kids get it.  NU would get it.  The boosters don't like him?  screw them.  They are part of the reason we are in this mess to begin with.

I just don't get why you don't keep him as ST coordinator.  The guy is good.  He's made huge improvements since being here and he loves the Huskers.  He's already here.

So, a new coach is going to come in and then try to go out and find a good ST coordinator to come here and hope he's as good as Busch.

Tell Busch that NU has to return a punt to be considered for the position.

The only reason to name the coach before the end of the regular season is to satisfy the impatience of the Husker fan base.  In the long run, it won't matter one bit if Rhule or some other coach is named Monday between Wisconsin and Iowa or the Sunday after Iowa.  The next coach will be successful or not on his own time.

If the new head coach is named before the Iowa game, then he may show up to the game and be interviewed for about 5 minutes during one drive of the game.  Mike Riley made a short appearance during the Holiday Bowl after he was hired.  Riley also appeared on that coach's broadcast on ESPN during the National Championship game, and NU fans nearly creamed themselves thinking he was so good on there.  Did those appearances have any impact during Riley's tenure at NU?  Did Scott Frost coaching UCF in the Peach Bowl after he was hired, where NU fans were thinking "It will be a 4 hour commercial for Frost taking over at NU" have a positive impact on NU?

When Riley was hired, most of us were like WHAT?! WHY?

We haven't put QBs in the NFL since the 70s, why start expecting to now? The Flexbone is simple, and we could get a lot of guys able to run it. It's actually one of the advantages the service academies have - if the starter goes down, the back-ups can still effectively run the offense because all of the pressure isn't on that position.

Right now we look completely lost without Thompson out there, because this offense requires a guy who is hard to find. And even then, I'm pretty sure Thompson has as many interceptions as he does touchdowns.

We will never get the NFL-bound QBs. We need to focus on what we can recruit. Linemen and bruising running backs.

The fan base wouldn’t be patient enough to get the pieces together to run the offense. I am all for some old school, grind up clock and yards offense. The other problem is they don’t have the strength and conditioning advantage that they use to.
