I used to live in Colorado and dated my fair share of CU fans and former students (in the early 2000s before they totally fell off the cliff). The bantering and ribbing between our teams made for quality flirting and really good times in the sack. It was only when I met their male friends that it became annoying.
Also, I started the survey above but it looked way too long, so I bailed.

thats the problem with this whole team imo. they get this air of cool confidence about them like they got this, but they dont play with hair on fire. Slowly that confidence turns into urgency. I hate it. Speaking of the entire team, its as if they have a blind faith in the process and the rest will take care of itself. Not to compare anything to the 90's, but those dudes played like it was their last days on earth. The next game didnt matter. The championship didnt matter. They had to obliterate you NOW! Terrorize you every waking second of the right now. f#*k the next play, f#*k the fourth quarter... im gettin on your ass this second or im not wearing this jersey. bo exudes it too...
HELL YEAH! This part of your post had me fired up and ready to break down a wall so I can sit on my couch and watch football (if my couch had a wall in front of it for some reason).
But then this sentence:
sort of describes the head coach that those teams in the 90s had. There must be a different reason for the difference in game day attitudes, perhaps.im not gonna flat out say his calmness is a negative, but sometimes his back and forth pace with his hands behind his back as he chomps his gum and stares blankly at the ground seems a little too calm for comfort imo. -

I can't tell if that's better or worse than the one Mizzou put out a couple years ago:
-
To put it bluntly, the wife has learned to give it up game day morning or it it's all her fault
Good to know that if we lose, I can blame your wife.
Or can we blame Paul?
He ain't doing it right!
If his performance was lacking, then yes, we can blame Paul. I bet that happens more than we would care to know.
Perhaps the scheme is too complicated, and someone with more knowledge needs to be inserted. Speed isn't everything.

I thought I had skimmed some research a couple years ago about overuse injuries relating to younger kids participating in too many sporting activities without rest, but I can't find it. I'll keep looking. If I recall, it suggested limiting numbers of games and practices in order to avoid long-term injuries and complications on growing bodies. But I could be talking out of my ass since I can't find the actual information.
I would think the kids would have enough energy to participate, but the effects down the road would be worse. If it were my kid, I'd probably limit him to one league. But then again, I'm sure this isn't an issue my son will have to face as he gets older considering his weak and scrawny genetics anyway.
Nevermind, I found what I had read before, but it was just a debate; no actual research data on injuries, and it was about scheduling too many ultimate frisbee games in youth tournaments. Not exactly the same situation. The logic of the arguments were about overuse injuries and liability, and how other sports and state athletics associations limit the numbers of games and practices for youth sports.

Can't you adjust your computer settings so all fonts and images are bigger? I would think on most computers, changing the "view" settings would be easier than changing individual fonts, and it would enhance your entire Internet experience.

I have several Husker shirts, none better than the other, but only one pair of Husker socks, so those get worn each Saturday in the fall.
I bought them a few years ago at the Husker store in Estes Park (there are two of them now, but it's the one the Jess Kosch runs, Big Red of the Rockies I think). The store was quiet, with only Jesse in there manning the desk, and he kept saying things like "only 20 days until kickoff" to break the ice, but I really wasn't up for talking much, and it was kind of awkward. He mentioned how he bought the Husker store, but then the previous owners opened up another shop down the street, and he wasn't counting on having competition. I bought the socks out of pity more than anything. But now I wear them for every game.

I don't know who #23 is for the Lions, but that's an NFL DB just sort of lolligagging after a ball carrier, while a DT with 100 extra pounds on him has the closing speed to blast right by him and make the play.
Cut that bum and put Suh at safety.
I could see how you would think that by seeing that gif without actually watching the play.
I make all my judgments about player effort based on gifs alone. If you have a problem with that.... I say good day to you sir. Good day.

Mods... can we delete GM_Tood, imo
All the new members should read this thread. It should probably be bumped once a month or a least once every six months. People need to know about this!
I appreciate it, I just read this for the frist time and was amazed and enthralled!
Fowler seems like reasonable bloke on the board, he had to have just been trolling back then right? Is it possible to be that dense?

As usual, Nebraska beat Nebraska more so than UCLA beat Nebraska.
Really? UCLA's speed and play calling had NOTHING do to with it? C'mon, man.
Bruleif, I'm not sure that you're really going to get much further with this conversation. The Huskers played like crap in last year's game, and UCLA was prepared to take advantage of it. On the field that night, UCLA was the better team, but obviously a lot of fans are still bitter about the loss. Hell, so am I. But you're an opposing fan on HuskerBoard, so there you go.
At least you are attempting a real discussion here. On the Wyoming thread, there were a couple guys talking $h!t who had no rational basis to do so. At least you have scoreboard. I just hope we can beat the crap out of you next month and wash all of this away!

I work in the child protective business and a hell of a lot of resources go towards working with families who cannot afford to provide for their kids. In fact you could say that a typical case includes parents (often a single parent) living in poverty with oodles of kids, often from multiple deadbeat fathers. I and each caseworker in our office have multiple cases with this situation.
It would actually save a ton of tax dollars in the long run in a lot of our cases to pay for a vasectomy for the fathers or tube-tying for the mothers who come into the system as opposed to the millions of dollars that we spend on services, casework, and foster care. In some cases, an un-anesthetized castration would be appropriate as well and would still save lots of money. But that sort of suggestion would only be caught up in legislative debate for years, I guess.
For as terrible as that sounds, I agree with your theories. Some people should have the capability of having kids taken away from them.
I should have mentioned in my earlier post that those are things we joke about in the office. None of us would seriously propose castrating our clients, as much as some of them might deserve it!

Still up, too guys. Unfortunately my 2 year old decided to get up, too, so I had the opportunity to try to soothe her back to sleep. I was making some real progress on some court reports at the moment, too.

Melatonin usually works pretty good for me. And it doesn't make me groggy the next day like sleeping pills do.
I have some natural herbal lozenge things that contain melatonin and are supposed to promote sleep, but they don't help. Benadryl often does the trick for me if I take it early enough. But if I took it now at say, 2:30 a.m., I wouldn't be able to function very well later in the morning when I am actually supposed to be up.
Anyway, I'm up but brought a little bit of work home so can at least be productive.

I recognize that we aren't as relevant as we used to be or want to be, but it does not really bother me either. I hope that doesn't make me a bad fan or anything, but I'm content these days with an entertaining product on the field and having a school I can be proud of. Anything more relevant than that is just gravy to me.

I have to stop watching these because if I see one more player do the palms out hands together glove pose one more time, I am going to drown puppies.
Not only the glove pose, but these overly-dramatic "reveal" videos altogether.
Look! Mediocre State University added a new hue to their color scheme! And new gloves! Cue the strobe lights and shadows!

And one showing the work accomplished in just one year
This has been absolutely amazing. We moved away from Lincoln a year ago and took our first drive around the Haymarket a few weeks ago since being gone, and we couldn't beleive our eyes. The whole area is unrecognizable compared to just a year ago. Lincoln is starting to show signs of vibrancy!

I try to consider myself a "realist," but for this sort of game, the Kool-Aid takes over and I visualize something like a 63-0 game. Huskers to cover and the over!
I also think we're gonna roll UCLA, but I thought the same thing last year as well.

I agree, but it feels like I actually say that every year.
The only interesting off-season that went fairly quickly was 2010 because there was enough conference realignmnet drama to pass the time. Every other year feels like the worst offseason ever. NEED FOOTBALL.
