Mind you, even the unvaccinated still have like a 98% survival rate.

Can we please stop with this BS? Certain segments of the population have been crowing about a 98% survival rate for the past year and a half. While factually accurate, this minimizes the fact that a 1 or 2% mortality rate is absolutely horrific.

The flu could kill me, so could a car crash, so could a terrorist attack.

What if I told you that car crashes had a 98% survival rate? Are you opposed to seatbelt laws? Or DUI laws?

At my Planet Fitness today, I saw Margery [a 70ish year old lady], along with her counterpart Donna.  Donna had been coming into the gym over the past few weeks but I hadn't seen Margery.  When I saw her I expressed that it was good to see her.  She said she had been out due to COVID.  As she explained it, she and Donna were going to go on a tour bus trip to Nashville, but Donna couldn't go as you had to have the COVID shot to go.  Donna is one of the stupid and selfish people.  So, that explained why I saw Donna over at the gym with consistency but not Margery.  Margery had went on the bus trip and then returned, but had caught COVID.  Margery said that pretty much the whole tour bus group got COVID; 40 of the 50 caught COVID.  These were all 60 years of age and up women.

I continue to find it fascinating how these stories come to me.  I kinda did a "grilling" of her on my questions.  As I told her, I had another guy tell me about his gathering of 24 for a church event and how the seven [7] who caught COVID were all vaccinated, and when I shared that story on here [Huskerboard] how various folks said I was full of "BS".  Margery then went into more of a defensive posture assuring me that yes, she was vaccinated and yes, 40 of us caught it.  Yes, she said, I wore a mask the whole time.  In fact, she said, one of the ladies died a few days ago, which of course was sad to hear.  As I told her, I'm not questioning you, I'm just fascinated to keep hearing the stories of how the vaccinated are catching COVID and that it is the unvaccinated's fault.

I'm sure there will be plenty of "BS" responses.  That's all well and good.  I think that it's fascinating that you don't hear much about stories like this, and yet, they are happening.  All I can say is I'm waiting my turn to catch COVID.  It looks inevitable.  I still don't comprehend nor understand how me, as an unvaccinated one, is spreading and killing all these folks.   I look to take my lumps when I get it.  Thus far, I still remain more than adamant that I want to catch it and take my chances over using this failed vaccine and what it claims to prevent.

For those who do feel the need to respond to this post ... be forewarned that I am unvaccinated.  Sincerely, I would prefer you to use your mask when you respond and rubber gloves as you type so you are protected from a guy like me.  It appears that to talk and interact with me can lead to COVID and perhaps even death.  Additionally, I'm probably going to be at the OU game.  I am required and will possess a negative PCR COVID test, which I will have.  My seats are with other Husker fans.  Yet, I feel it is important that others know as an unvaccinated person you are fully aware that I am passing on COVID to others.  If you need to know my seat section and number, let me know and I will get you that info so you can avoid catching COVID from me.

What is even more unbelievable than your whimsical anecdotes is that you purport to be a man of faith and even preach about things like grace and mercy, yet you refuse to protect the health and safety of your community (let alone protecting your own health), recklessly and happily put vulnerable people at risk, and mock those of us who are concerned about the well-being of others.

What would Jesus do? Not this. Your post is disgraceful to anyone who actually strives to "love thy neighbor."

  3. Cincy, UCF, and BYU will never have a conference road game that is within a reasonable driving distance (except West Virginia for Cincinnati). That doesn't matter much to the fan bases because UCF and Cincy don't really have fans anyway. But it is going to suck for the athletes who have to travel.

Trev made a great reference to Clemson about how they’ve stuck with Daboo through the hard times and that he’s pretty much kept his entire staff together through the years and look where they are now

ohhh...Dabo has hard some hard times at Clemson, has he?

  5. My favorite MCU movies have been the light-hearted ones (Spiderman, Ant Man, Guardians, Ragnorak), so my only concern is that this trailer makes it look kind of dark and somber. However, the MCU writers and producers have generally done such a good job combining humor and character development into their stories that the foreboding trailer does not really worry me that much.

  6. I was about to say that I too have had a rough couple weeks at work, but when it came time to give a couple training presentations today, I pasted on a smile and turned on the charm anyway, and I would expect Frost to do the same.

However, I didn't see anything that bad in the clip of Frost's presser. We don't really expect to get a lot of useful info from these things do we? Ever? In fact, this one seemed very Osborne-esque in its dryness and boring delivery. The only difference is winning. So let's win some damn games and not worry about the presser.

Riley didn't have that many staunch defenders. Mostly advocates for patience combined with folks hoping to avoid another coaching search.

From the BYU game on, Riley did have plenty of detractors and outright haters who didn't think he could be fired fast enough. Most of those believe Riley's year three was vindication. Despite a worse record and some recruiting/development/transfer portal issues, Scott Frost has had considerably more defenders and blame shifters. They may have a case, but I think we all bought into Scott Frost because you simply couldn't imagine a better choice in December 2017. I still had him pencilled in for another three seasons, but now I'm thinking he needs an inspired and inspiring 2021 to stem this toxic decline.

    This.

Riley was never a good fit, and when he performed poorly, it led to anger. At that point, the fanbase still had hope that the program could stay relevant and become winners again with the right guy in charge (and we pictured Scott Frost as being that guy).

Frost was the perfect fit, so now his poor performance leads to dejection and sadness moreso than anger. Many fans, including myself, are losing hope that we will ever be able to restore our former glory. At this point, I don't think I am alone in willing to be patient with Frost because: 1) I don't know what our other options are, and 2) I find myself not caring as much as I used to.

Students hurting other students (Baylor) is a tough thing to pin on the Baylor admin from a legal stand point for the NCAA.  University admin hurting or putting into harms way students is much easier for the NCAA to go after and win if it was to go to the courts.  In other words, we are low hanging fruit right now compared to the legal nightmare that is the Baylor situation.  AND it hits the current hot topic of our times which is covid.  Going after NU for this covid violation will make them look like a gleaming white knight in the eyes of many.

At Baylor, the coaches and administrators clearly had A LOT of culpability for what happened, and heads rolled because of it. It wasn't just students hurting students: there were multiple failures within the team, coaching staff, and administration that made the problem worse. All of that was clearly realized years ago.

The fact that the NCAA took as long as they did to somehow decide not to hold Baylor accountable from their purview (similar to Penn State), is what makes the NCAA process for these matters such a joke.

  9. I was in Frankfort, KY last week, and as you enter town after exiting the interstate, there is a sign that says: "Home of Wandale Robinson, 2018 Kentucky Mr. Football ." Hope he's getting paid for that.

  10. No teacher or any other responsible adult should tell a child to keep something from their parents. Especially if it is an uncomfortable or complex issue. Thankfully, most teachers will not do this. Granted, there are plenty of bad teachers out there, and the linked article does not share both sides of the story. Further, there are plenty of reasons to be skeptical of the accuracy of this story:

    1. We live in a time in which idiots like to generate faux outrage over anything having to do with race, diversity, or identity.

    2. The story is relying almost entirely on the word of a fourth grader.

    3. The source of this story is a British tabloid.

    4. Redux is making a big deal out of it.

Additionally, fourth graders should certainly be involved in conversations about equity and diversity, but they should be whole-heartedly encouraged to talk to their parents about it. These topics need robust discussions both inside and outside the classroom.

My only kickback is that the price of these movies need to be severely adjusted. We went, as well and saw Black Widow for $12. In comparison, Disney+ is asking $30 for the movie.

I do think we'll continue to see a resurgence in driver in theaters.

We saw Black Widow, too. Good flick. Not worth $12 per ticket. But it's NOT worth it to watch at home for $30, either, I agree.

The Disney+ movies for $30 a pop have been a great deal for our family of four. Avoiding the additional ticket prices, exorbitant concessions, and unclean environment is a no-brainer for a family movie.

I just remember hearing something about wanting diversity in their hire?  I guess all those doors closed quickly.

This is a bad take. We should all value diversity and strive for it at every level. But valuing diversity does not mean a white guy never gets hired.

And no intelligent member of administration would ever publicly say that they are looking for someone of a specific race, ethnicity, or sex for any position.
