I'm thinking back to the huddle and running designed plays instead of going on the 2-second whims of a flustered guy. For defense, don't be on the field too long and expect maximum pursuit when they are.....young players will get better and more intuitive.
-
I think what's more disconcerting than our play on the field is the amount of fans who don't know that it's Tommie with an -ie, not a -y.
But is it Frazier with a "z" or Frasier with an "s"?
-
The announcers said something to the effect that Martinez' play was like sandlot ball....he was just getting flustered and flinging it out there. The 2nd string Sr. QB should've played. I know that's a lot to ask of Kellogg to step into, but what we saw is unacceptable.
-
It wasn't because of turnovers, it was because of lack of offensive production. Average starting field position plays a huge role and it's how our offense directly affected our defense.unless the Offense does something stupid like turning the ball over on our side of the field. That didn't happen today.
One of our best offenses, possibly of ALL TIME, went scoreless in the second half. Not only that but they didn't get stopped at the other team's 10...no...they couldn't get a first down on our side of the field and gave the ball back at damn near mid-field most of the time.

I call BS.....it looks like we're stocked full of good athletes to me. Evidently Wyoming is getting all the 4 and 5 stars....whatever stars mean?....and our boys are responsible for the girly offensive strategy? We could use a few lock-down corners or something....every team could including Alabama and Notre Dame, that doesn't excuse the bad coaching we've seen on both sides of the ball. In defense of Bo, I liked him when he got here and I still do.....don't ask me why the team keeps going the wrong way. One thing I can see is they sure don't understand momentum or the effort a leader can bring to the team, whether verbally or just by his performance. What we have is key players who instill a sense of impending doom and a coaching staff that rallies around it.

The defense played a solid first half, good enough to have been up even more than 21-10. The offense proceeded to stink for 2.5 quarters. We knew the defense was green and would need some help. We knew Mora would make better adjustments at halftime than Bo.
What was not expected was the complete stinker that the offense threw up in the 2nd half, especially when even one good drive probably keeps us two TDs closer heading into the 4th.
We all know that hiring Bo was a mistake, that has been apparent for a while.
In hindsight we all should find this as no surprise. The biggest problem with this team right now aside from coaching is at the QB position. We have no pocket presence, no option game, and a weak passing game. Did I mention we rushed for -13 yards from the QB position. What did we complete, 6 of our last 17 passes. No, running the ball more was not the answer, we couldn't do that effectively either.
It's been pretty obvious for a while we've seen the ceiling of our current QB strategy, and its not a conference championship or even a bowl win.
Get the option QB in. It's time to stop fooling around and get serious about the future. I am fine with the senior QB playing, but we've got to mix it up. Unfortunately this is not something the coaching staff will pick up soon enough if at all. I guess it has to get uglier.
I put this one more on the offense. We would not get out gained 300 yards to 500 if they did their job. The offense was supposed to be unstoppable like 83 and 95 NU, what a laugh. It starts and ends with QB play. We don't have it. Sadly it sits right there on our bench.
The OC and QB are a tag team.....everything is behind the line and sideways like we're afraid to take on the other team. It's embarrassing. What used to be a relief outlet is now the play. The whole no-huddle idea looks like flag football.

Is Charlie McBride available?
-
It would make sense to get Armstrong going to get a jump on next year, but I think Kellogg III would be the better QB at this point. Of course Bo will stick with Martinez though.
-
What I saw was UCLA players taking the game seriously and giving double effort once they were down 21-3. If we had hit them back just as hard instead of running Beck's sissy offense it might have made a difference. Maybe it's just me but putting Martinez in the pocket to pass or running those option draws from 7 yards behind the line and trying to dance between the defenders is a stupid way to run an offense unless you're playing a team that's half as good as you. I saw E. Carolina running the same offense with the sideways passes and they were awesome against Vandy. Maybe we could schedule Vanderbilt every week? Do these coaches even know how to run the ball?
-
How about hiring Eric Crouch?
-
On the bright side ,the new arena looks awesome and if we lose every basketball game we can always fly it back to the home planet.....and they serve beer.....and there are no communal piss troughs.
-
I wonder how the kind of ball North Dakota plays translates to the BIG? It's one thing to surprise teams and another when they're watching every move.
-
The next poster who thinks the problem was Nebraska abandoning the running game should resign from all future football analysis. Seriously.
Abandoning WHAT running game?

I'd trade for Wyoming's qb in a heartbeat....nuff said.

I'd trade Wyoming for their qb in a heartbeat.

I don't agree that it'll be changes in assistants. I think either Bo gets it together or he goes back to being a fine NFL assistant coach and an experienced coach takes over with a new staff. JMHO
-
That's what it's come to....we have to hope the rest of the teams in the country suck for us to look good. It's probably best that we didn't play a K-State season only to get blown out at the end.
-
No, I would've played Kellogg and if he did a good job I would've kept him in. I'm not sure when playing a different player meant benching the other?
-
Mack Brown is being called the worst coach in football on some of the talk shows. He has his pick of top players and does the least with them of any coach in the country. Some day Texas will figure it out and stop blaming his assistants that are propping up this loser.
-
And for everyone who wanted Taylor to turn into a pocket Qb. You got your wish cause he is now running like a lil girl.
Who wanted that?
-
Okay, we lost a big game. And now HB will have about 40 threads spewing sh#t and calling for Bo's head, calling for Pap's head, calling for Beck's head. Is that really what we need right now? I think we need to realize that we are not a top ten team this year. Not even a top twenty team. But we do have a lot of great young talent. On both sides of the ball. Firing our coaches would set us back another half a decade. Didn't we learn that from the Callahan debacle? Do we really want to go through that again? Wouldn't it be easier to fix what we got?
I have to say NUance, I really admire your optimism, and it never wavered throughout the game.
But right now I don't think a wholesale coaching change would set us back. We do have a lot of talent. I think if someone came in and really simplied things while stressing fundamentals and discipline, they could be succesful right out of the gate.
Sad to say it because I like Bo, but you're right. I'd hire that new d-line coach back too....he seems to be coming along well with the new guys .
-
If we have to lose, I'd rather do it behind someone with some fire in him like Ron Kellogg III....I'm not joking a bit. Our offense looks like a few tricks strung together. The running backs are being wasted.
-
I learned we have good players and we need someone to make them a team.
-
Congratulations, your guys hung in there and played their game.

I'm not calling out players, that's the coaches job. The OC and RB coaches need to be called out.
